My honey used to go to this place 25 years ago. He kept talking about their potato soup. We decided to drive there. We didn't have a problem with parking as the meter didn't work lol. When you walk in, you definitely feel like you are in a pub in Ireland. The bartender, Danny (boy) was working the bar and running good. He was awesome to talk to. We did get that potato soup which was absolutely delicious!!! My honey had a few Irish Ales and I had a few Blue Moons. We decided to get the caramel Toffee pudding for desert. Holy moldy! Don't get me wrong, I like this place. The bartender was great, and the drinks and beers were good. The atmosphere is always ok. The problem that I have is with their Reuben sandwich. I'm sorry, but this is the saddest Reuben I have ever seen. The bread is dry (possibly stale), and the Reuben is made out of pastrami, not corned beef - but that isn't necessarily the bad part. I didn't see the sandwich being prepared, but I bet I can tell you their process: toast some bread, no butter, just dry. Now take some pastrami out of the cooler and put it on the bread. Now run that through a toaster oven/salamander oven to heat it (this dries the meat and curls it up), then add some sauerkraut (which had zero flavor) and top it with some form of Thousand Island dressing (again, no flavor). Now, toss that top piece of bread on the sandwich, put it on a plate, and send it out to the customer. If you are expecting a NY Deli-style Reuben sandwich, you are in for a letdown. The Ruben should be served with bread that has been liberally buttered and then cooked in a frying pan (preferably cast iron), which gives the bread a nice crunch. That hot, crunchy bread is now a delicious outer layer to the juicy, tasty corned beef with tangy sauerkraut and fresh Russian or Thousand Island dressing. That's not what you'll get at this place - so move on to something else on the menu. And, almost forgot: no cheese! A Reuben should have Swiss cheese. If you are going to deviate so much from what a Reuben should be, don't call it "Ped's Reuben," call it "Ped's Dry Meat Sandwich on Dry Toasted Bread" - because it ain't a Reuben. Hey Peddler's: you're better than this - try harder, because your Reuben kinda sucks. My wife always gets the fish and chips. She is particular when we go out to eat, but she always likes your fish and chips. So overall: I like this place... but the Reuben... don't order it if you really know what a Reuben can/should be - you will be disappointed. It's a throwback, but the best Reuben sandwich I've had outside of NYC was back in the 1990's at a place called the Dili Dali Deli on Rt 38 in Tewksbury, MA (just about in Lowell). That place was great! Wherever those people who ran that place are today, you should know that I judge all Reubens based on your version of this classic sandwich. So far, no one has come close to the quality you prepared at that little deli, which typically had a counter 3-4 people deep at lunchtime - and you cranked out SO MUCH DELICIOUS FOOD, all with smiles on your faces! We went there for trivia. The place was actually bigger than I thought it was. The building looks small from the outside, but I drove all the way there to eat and be with family. I ordered a side of broccoli with cheese and they did it was awesome. They had a really big bar which I liked, but I did not sit at it. Never crossed my mind to visit the Peddler's daughter for brunch until word of mouth inspired me. This trendy Irish pub has been a Nashua staple for years, and is located in the historic downtown. Started off with Irish iced coffees, which were the perfect blend of booze and caffeine needed to start the day. Brunch menu was stacked and had quite a few gluten-free choices. My party ordered the corned beef and Irish nachos. I went with eggs and home fried potatoes because I filled up on iced coffee. It was that delicious. This place was a last minute decision and one we are glad we made. Gem of a find can wait to go next time we are in town. The atmosphere was very pub like loved it. 1/2 bench 1/2 seat tables all along the walls a small water front patio (gonna try and sit there next time) my husband and I went with our daughter and her husband. We decided to try the Scotch Egg (sausage wrapped around and egg basically) we all loved it and were surprise how yummy it was, my husband had new paper wrapped fish and chip my husband says the tarter sauce is the best he has ever had it's pretty good homemade obviously same with the ketchup which came out slightly chunky different but good. Our son in law had a burger, my daughter the Cottage Pie and myself Buffalo chicken tenders with blue cheese that was amazing. We even had some bread pudding for dessert and it was dang good. We wish we would have found this place earlier in our trip would have definitely gone more than once. Oh they also have DownEast unfiltered Cider on draft super good cider a must try. I had the Buffalo chicken salad. It was very good. We got there at 6:00 on a Saturday. We met family there to catch up. The only downside was that there was some kind of radio show or something broadcasting from there that started after we had been there a bit. Brutally noisy. Not really our thing but I'm giving 5 stars because the service and food were wonderful and I was here once before and it was excellent that time too. Incredibly nasty and unpleasant manager I don't know her name, but she was awful. Very rude to my friend and I. there was no one in there just last Friday and she made a big deal about a little water on the menus which were laminated. She was sullen and nasty from the start treating us as if we came in just to get waters, even though we ate food, had drinks and we were one of the few patrons that day. The woman should be or reprimanded At the very least. My Papa (81, visiting from Florida) has a heart problem and they added stuff to his meal that he didn't ask for! It's all the server's fault. We came here for brunch after a long night of drunken debauchery. Outdoor seating is available that overlooks the river with a great view. Inside is decorated very well and really plays into the Irish pub theme as much as it can without being overwhelming. The menu was solid with an appropriate spread of brunch options. The food is above average, but nothing spectacular. We got a pitcher of mimosa because we're degenerates haha I'm curious to see what this place is like at peak bar hours. This place is fantastic!! It definitely a cool feel inside with old trinkets around the bar. There are little areas inside where groups can feel more secluded and the whole feel of the bar is comfortable and cozy. The beer list is pretty average but they definitely have Irish beers on tap which is great, since I have been to Irish bars with only Guinness on tap. As for the food- the fried pickles are probably some of the best I have ever had, and I'm from Texas, the land of fried food, so that says a lot. We also tried the onion rings which were very good and the nachos which were on the thin and crispy homemade potato chips (I'm not a homemade chip person so this was just okay to me). This place has homemade mayo, ketchup and tarter sauce- all of which are excellent. The ketchup is exactly as you would expect homemade to be: more vinegar and flavors, way less sugar than the prepackaged stuff. I ordered the Cottage Pie, which was very good and extremely filling. I was starving and barely was able to eat half. It was made fresh and I was satisfied with my order. Several people in our party had the fish and chips and oh my gawd!!! Hands down the best I've ever had! The fish was so juicy and not super greasy and lightly fried so the breading wasn't overwhelming like most places with fried fish do it. The tater tots are crispy and fresh and the sweet potato fries are amazing as well. I am so happy we stopped here (it was a large group of about 10 people with ages from late 20s to 70s). There were food and drink choices for everyone's taste and the atmosphere was perfect as was the waitstaff. I can't say how much more awesome it gets at night, but I'd love to try it next time I'm in town! read more
