We have heard there's a waiting list and believe it as it does get crowded at times but not super crowded. I have been to several other Lifetime properties in the Chicagoland area and this is in my top 5 locations. The staff is great as well as the trainers that work there. You can tell business is good when you rarely see a trainer solo. Instead they are working with clients, training away. I do find it strange that the GM trains some people as he's taking away from his other trainers. The folks at the Cafe are wonderful and friendly as well. Let's not forget about the workers at the Daycare! Doreen, Wilma and their crew all work their tail off taking care of the babies, toddlers and kids. God bless em. I rode my bike across the state of Iowa in a recreational bike ride now for the past two years and have trained for and completed multiple Chicago marathons. I exercise at the local YMCA 3-4 times a week and go to hot yoga classes at least three times a week in addition to running and biking every chance I get....With all that said, NONE of this prepared me for what I experienced when I met Brian and walked into Techny Fitness! I was naively skeptical that Brian could teach this aging old dog new tricks. But Brian is a fitness guru and has showed me exercises I never knew existed. I've worked muscles I never knew I had. After five sessions at Techny Fitness I feel like I've accomplished more than five months solo at the YMCA. He's always got a new piece of equipment to show me or a new routine that completely blows my mind and exhausts my body. Brian has over ten years experience as a personal trainer, and has an endless wealth of knowledge when it comes the human anatomy, diet and of course training the body. The facility is located in a racket ball court with forty foot ceilings in a cool, dry basement. Well lit, always clean, perfect conditions for a big dude like myself who sweats constantly during rigorous workouts. I love his circuit style of training. He isolates muscles at times and completely mixes it up other times. He has taught me the key to seeing results is confusing the body and not letting it get used to a routine of always doing the same things. He trains men and woman ten years younger than me and also folks who are 10-20 years older than me. Each person is different and I see that he takes the time to understand each individuals goals and caters the exercise routine accordingly. It's small enough that clients receive personal attention/help during group circuit training. The guidance and tips from trainers Goran & Mia absolutely improved my somewhat marginal positioning during various exercises. And they constantly watch out for people so they don't overdo. But be clear, if they know you can do a few more reps, they will cheer you on to squeeze a few more in. Goran says once it starts to feel like you are getting tired from the reps, try to do 5 more because those last 5 are the ones that really count to tax your muscles so they will strengthen. Everyone is encouraging and kind and truly wants to see you improve and get stronger. And in my first several weeks of going (1 hr 3x week), I meet some wonderful people who have been going to Premier Fitness for many years, even decades! That should tell you something right there!

My friend invited me to brunch at Midtown Athletic Club (they are a member). The public can't just…read morewalk in, there are gates in the lobby and I had to scan a code (and fill out my info) before entering. I visited Midtown before as a prospective member so I know that guests can only enter a limited number of times. We went upstairs past the cardio machines (they are plentiful) and the weight area to the cafe. There are tables and booths that overlook the outdoor pool area (closed for season). It wasn't a large brunch but we had some made-to-order omelets, bacon/sausage and fruit. There was also some potatoes and pastry. When I sat down to eat I received a text from Midtown about a membership. The brunch was bottomless although one omelet was enough for me. I also had two emails from Midtown when I got home, one a waiver of liability and the other a membership offer. I didn't join as a member on my previous visit and I am not going to join now. I already have a Pilates membership that includes three studios with classes from 6am-8pm. Midtown has a Pilates studio but none of the class times work for me. They also have some reformers in the middle of the cardio area reserved for private lessons. If I have a private lesson I would prefer to be in a secluded area, not in the middle for all to see. The facility has many machines, a boxing area, a cycling studio, a theatre, a spa, a cafe, courts, pool, etc and this is a great place for those who need this. There are families who spend the morning at lessons, classes, workouts, then join up in the cafe. This is great for those who are looking for this but it doesn't fit my needs right now.

The atmosphere is calm and focused, not overcrowded or chaotic like many other gyms. One of the biggest advantages is that the equipment is always available. I have never had to stand around waiting for a machine or change my workout because something was taken. Everything runs smoothly and the environment makes it easy to stay consistent with training. If someone is looking for a gym that is clean, quiet, organized, and actually allows you to complete your workout without delays, this is definitely the place to go.

I rented a ton of Power…read moreWheels for my 7 year old's bday party and needed to find a local gym that would let us bring in a dozen Power Wheels and forty 7 year old boys. I reached out to all the local park districts and found their facilities supervisor, Shawn, to be by far the most responsive and very easy to work with. I paid for the bday party before event seeing the space, but was so impressed with the beautiful gym, track and party room when we got there. They also have a workout room that looks pretty nice. It ended up being the perfect spot for our party and I wouldn't hesitate to book it again in the future. I even suggested it to a friend planning a basketball themed bar-mitzvah, but unfortunately they don't allow alcohol in the space. I've been back recently with my son for basketball open gym since it's one of the few local gyms currently offering times. Thanks to the pickleball craze it's becoming harder to find open gym time for basketball, but they have it here at TPAC and the times (located online) are pretty convenient.
