After TPG dropped the ball on getting us initiated in the system, they were able to recover with getting a M&G scheduled. This makes me feel a bit more at ease with going with them while we are away over the Thanksgiving Break. Constantly updating us with very detailed report cards and photos! The app is amazing and super easy to use! I'm so happy we found them! This review is long overdue as I have been a client of The Pet Gal for almost two years now! I used to own a pet sitting and dog walking business of my own so this review is written by someone who used to be "in the biz!" Since moving to a regular 9-5 non-business owner, I wanted pet care for our dogs during the day. I also wanted in-home pet sitting and overnight care for our dogs so as not to disrupt their routine of having us in the home. I love, love, love Susan and Dan (the owners) and their entire scheduling staff as well as their "Pet Gals and Pet Guys". When our baby was due, Susan and the entire Pet Gal team went ABOVE AND BEYOND to help us plan for her arrival. There is nothing like feeling relieved that your home and pets will be well taken care of during one of the biggest life events. They really did go way above and beyond for us, adjusting to an ever changing situation as well as helping to make sure we had coverage in case something didn't go to plan. They even sent us a wonderful, thoughtful welcome home gift when we arrived home with our new human addition. I can't say enough good things about this company. Our favorite sitters are Jason and Claudia - my dogs LOVE them. They also leave the most wonderful updates and our home is always left better than when we left it. Pre-pandemic we counted on them to care for our pets during the day, and post-vaccine, they are able to care for them during travel time. Went thru their online scheduling as a new client and didn't hear from them after 4 days of waiting. I then filled out another scheduling request a couple days ago and still no response. Guess they must have enough clients. Update: it doesn't make sense that you would include a process on your website for new clients that asks for date of service, name, and address but doesn't get the info to you. Then you reply to this review worried more about that I did a bad review and not how to fix the problem and get the situation straightened out. Great response. read more

We love the Pet Gals! D'Lynn and Debbie have taken care of our two dogs: a 5 year old and a (then) 4 month old, both GSD-mixes. The pups loved them both! Their "reports" sent after each visit are thorough and include lots of pictures. My pups were definitely having a good time playing with them, and each other. Everyone is very responsive, friendly, and thorough. I was initially a tad nervous having someone come into our home, but that went away fast because this team are all professionals. We have used them twice now, once for a week's worth of dog walks while my work-from-home husband was out of town (I don't work close to home), and another time for a full day of walks when we had to take a long day trip. In August, we had The Pet Gal folks take care of our two guinea pigs, Donner & Blitzen. This consisted of 15 min morning visits and 30 min evening visits. In the morning, they gave our guys their liquid vitamin C by syringe and refreshed the hay pile. In the evenings, they cleaned up all the beans, refreshed the hay, checked the water and bedding, and let the boys out for a bit of floor exercise and bell pepper hunts. Clare and Allan's communication was stellar! Via the Time for Pet app, I was updated at every visit with lots of text and pics of our boys. It was so great to have that daily connection and even my extended family started asking to see the updates. They were super flexible on the fly when we realized that we didn't put our trash out and when Amazon delivered a package earlier than expected. From our first pet meet 'n greet with Clare, we knew it would be a great fit. She was so attentive in learning their routine and never made us feel silly for giving our guinea pigs this level of care. Guinea pigs are not "set it and forget it" pets. We used The Pet Gal for the first time this week. We needed someone to stay with our three dogs overnight. We had a meet and greet with Devin and Claudia prior to THE BIG NIGHT. We have a unique situation over here, where our big girl needs to be separated from my two little ones, as she can be dog aggressive. I laid all my crazy anxiety cards on the table. Showed them all the security measures I take to ensure that everyone is safe. They completely understood, and were reassuring that they would do everything to keep the pups safe....and separated. It was the first time we hadn't boarded them, and I was beyond nervous and anxious about the whole thing... Devin notified me when she arrived, took pics, and texted me updates. It was so nice to see my pups at home....happy. Having Devin there overnight was wonderful! My dogs were able to be home in their space, put me at ease while I was away. We have two cats and we went out of town for a few days recently. We used boarding in the past, but with two pets, the cost doubles. We were also worried our cats would be confined to a small space, and they would be very stressed out when not at home. We have been interested about pet sitting service, and decided to give it a try. We saw good reviews of Pet Gal on Yelp, and it turned out to be a very positive experience. We had our "Meet and Greet" meeting with Pet Gal Susan. She was very professional and made us feel comfortable our cats would be well taken care of. We received frequent communication through email and text messages from Susan and Kathleen to guide us through the set up process. They have an excellent mobile app and web site. When we were away, we got detailed text messages each day with pictures to let us see how our cats were doing. Our cats are shy, but both of them warmed up to Susan. I thought they would be hiding when Susan came to refresh they food and water bowls. The pictures gave us peace of mind. We would not have to worry about our cats next time when we go out of town, knowing they would be in good hands. I would use Pet Gal's pet sitting service again. Highly recommended. read more

Wow, The Pet Gal is AMAZING! I used them for the first time a few weeks ago and was completely impressed. Laura was our Pet Gal, and she came for a thorough meet and greet where she had me feed the cats and had me talk a little bit about their personalities. She spent time listening and understanding and the cats immediately seemed comfortable with her--she had a great vibe about her. My favorite part of the care my 3-cats received was the updates and pictures. When you are away from your animals, you always worry if they are ok, getting enough attention, getting fed, etc but with the updates, you just don't worry at all becuase you know someone will send you a text/email after every visit with the pictures. My last experience wasn't so great. I hate writing bad reviews -- and this isn't horrible, just a little disappointing. I came home from our vacay, and my dog, who never ever goes in the house, had left about 5 accidents (#1 and #2) in the front bedroom of the house.He doesn't potty in the house. I've had him 8.5 years and he's only had accidents a couple times. We go on trips often and he's never done this. So,, my conclusions were: 1) they weren't letting him out, 2) they were not giving him time to finish up 3) they were leaving him inside too long. Owner offered to pay a cleaning service, but it was tile and an area rug so we'd already cleaned it ourselves rather than sleep through the night with the stink. She then offered money off our next service, but I'm hesistant. I got multiple email forwards from the owner which showed email replies from the 3 girls who'd been sitting, explaining things like: they did let him out, they didn't notice the mess, and if they'd have known he was accident-prone they'd have checked the room (of course I replied that he is not accident prone and the room was wide open...we have a small house, you could smell it). I do appreciate that she investigated the situation, but I'm not in the mood for explanations. What happened still happened. I paid over 400 and came home to that mess and knowing my dog wasn't properly cared for. I saw my neighbor shortly after the trip and she'd asked why so many people had been coming and going. I explained we had a pet sitter. She said she was wondering because one car would pull up for a few minutes then leave, then another would come. I told her there were 3 sitters, then I told her about the mess... she said she wasn't surprised because she saw one come for the afternoon shift then the evening shift would pull up right after the afternoon shift left. It was one time, but gives me an idea of why this happened...because the next shift wouldn't come until much much later then he'd be left alone for so long. read more

Susan comes through again! We've acquired a new member of the family: a complicated but sweet little fourteen year old dauchsund. What a cutie she is but she's got a bit of an incontinence problem and certainly has her own mind about things. So I was out of town again and we decided to just have someone come in around lunchtime while Mr. Man was at work. As usual we got the text photos, which always make me happy. I'm not sure what she did but now the complicated, but much loved, dauchsund goes into her crate willingly and happily. Well, when she's not trying to go into one of the other girls' crates but that's just part of her persnickety personality. She's a complicated ol gal to be sure. Now she understands that crate = good for the most part! This was something I had been unable or hadn't had the patience to teach her yet. I can guess that it was treats because that's truly the way to a hound dog's heart. All I know is it was genius and I have a crate trained (ish) elderly dauchsund now. read more

Joy was absolutely fantastic as our wedding pet attendant! She took wonderful care of my pets on the day of the wedding. They were extremely energetic but it did not phase her- she dealt with them with such grace! Only a week before the wedding I asked if I could add my cat onto the service and she was so understanding and completely happy to do it. Before the event the communication was thorough, she met the pets about a month in advance, and on the day she was prompt and professional. While we were away, Pet Gal Joy came in to check on our two kitties a total of three times (3 visits, 15 mins each). I was impressed by Joy when I met her, and despite a small billing issue that was resolved, today, after speaking with Susan, I was ultimately impressed. A few things to note: 1) The Yelp deal was spectacular. If you're considering using The Pet Gal, be sure to purchase it, as it'll save you close to half off! 2) Be prepared for this service to work EXTRA hard to keep you happy. That is-- be prepared for them to offer services over and above that of "just" sitting your pet. ;) They will bring in your mail, take in packages, take out garbage, clean the litter boxes, etc. Incredibly impressive.. 3) The billing console was a little clunky, and definitely helped create troubles as far as the gratuity I left our pet sitter. I like to leave cash in a service business, but the console charged me 20% that was charged to my credit card, making it appear as though I'd been overcharged (at least that's how I felt). The Pet Gal's Susan worked super fast to correct this situation, though, suggesting a new portal would be available in the future, and offered to send us a check for the overage. We opted to leave it on the account for the future. 4) I'd received numerous email bounces from both their appointments@ and susan/joy@ thepetgal.com domain. It's a server side issue that I hope the service will soon be resolved. Never fear, though, it appears they get the email without any trouble. All in all, we were really happy with the service our Pet Gal, Joy, delivered, and the boys were unscathed upon our return. ;) Still as attention-starved as had I left them alone, unfortunately, but... that's totally on them. ;) With any luck, we'll be using Joy in the future! read more

I have used The Pet Gal on three occasions. It's easy schedule, the pet sitters seem great, and provide lots of updates. However, because all the scheduling and administration is done through an online system, it is extremely difficult to actually get in contact with someone when needed. They say they will get back to you within two hours, but that is not my experience. Given all types of situations can arise with pets, this is not acceptable to me, and I would not recommend them. read more

Thank goodness for the Pet Gals!!! We were just a few days away from leaving to go out of the country for over two weeks when our pet sitter (a family member) unexpectedly fell through. After making a few desperate calls, The Pet Gals were recommended. Luckily they could take on our 14 year old kitty cat at the last minute. I was pretty nervous about the last minute change of plans, but my kitty seemed to warm right up to Pet Gal Ashe when she stopped by for the meet and greet. Since we were out of the country I couldn't get texts, but I received great emails almost every day (often with pictures) and it really helped ease my mind while away. The last pet sitter we had used did not follow my instructions, and my kitty was pretty upset after a short weekend away. But the Pet Gals seemed to really listen to our routine with our cat, and followed it closely. My kitty was happy to have us back, but definitely seemed very well taken care of while we were gone. It was also nice to know that someone was stopping by our house daily - offering a bit more security when we were out of town for so long. I would NOT hesitate to use them again!! I figured that it's time to update my review since I have somebody new caring for my dogs. If I recall correctly, Pet Gal Chrissy moved her hours to weekends only so I have a new Pet Gal, Jen, visiting my dogs when I need somebody to stop in. Jen is equally wonderful! She is easy to reach if I have questions or concerns and if I make a small change I can send a message and know that I'll get it. Of course, she sends a small blurb and pictures after her visit. The pictures are so great, they make my day, and my dogs always look so happy! She even offered to stop in on a day that she wasn't scheduled because a large storm was coming in and she remembered that one of my dogs has a strong fear of storms. I definitely feel like my dogs are in good hands with her. The company as a whole is great. They seem to go above and beyond for their customers. I appreciate how they aim to have the same "Pet Gal" visiting every time - this means that my dogs know who is coming into the house and I definitely feel better knowing that my door is not revolving every single employee in-and-out - I like the sense of familiarity. Sometimes I've had to change plans at the last minute and this has never been an issue. Susan is always quick to respond to any questions or the rare concern that I may have. I know that their prices are raising soon (if they haven't already) but this should definitely not be a deterrent - the service is definitely worth it. read more

I've been using the Pet Gals to check on my cat, Hunter, while I am out of town for about 9-10 months. I've used their services about 6-8 times. Usually Pet Gal Meaghen checks in on my furry baby, and she is great! Upon first meeting her I knew she would be very good and Hunter immediately warmed up to her, that in and of itself takes a little stress off of my mind while I am away. She always sends pictures or videos, she takes care of Hunter like he is her own while she is there. This last time I went out of town Meaghen was not available so Pet Gal Sheila checked in on Hunter. Again she sent texts and photos updating me about how he was doing. The second day there was an issue with my lock box and Sheila couldn't get into my house. She texted to let me know and after some "figuring out" Pet Gal Owner Susan went over to my house to figure out the lock box issue. She was able to get my key out of the box and check on Hunter and send me an update. This is the owner, who went to my house on a Friday night during the holiday season! The dedication of this company/staff to make sure your pets are safe and doing well while you are gone really makes leaving them a little easier. We were so happy with the Pet Gal, specifically Pet Gal Tracy. She spent the nights at our home with our 3 dogs and 1 cat, and also visited them periodically throughout the day. It was clear from the pictures and notes she texted that the pets were happy and well cared for. When we got home, there were little notes on each pet clearly showing that Tracy had spend enough time with them to get to know them. Not only that, but the house was perfectly clean and she had even picked up the poo from the back yard which was above and beyond. Tracy is the best! I also really like their online reservation system. It's a little clunky to use when booking multiple days, pets, and services, but it's great to have everything stored online and confirmed in writing. read more

Pet Gal Pet Sitters are the best pet sitters in Austin. We fell in love with Tracy, our pet sitter, when she stayed at our home with our 3 Cavalier King Charles Spaniels and our cat. Tracy went above and beyond in every way. She cared for our pets, sent us lots of texts with photos showing the dogs playing, and she even gave them some meds that we said were optional (eye drops) because we didn't want her to have to hassle with them. Our pets loved her and our house was cleaner when we got home than when we left it! She even trimmed the dead leaves off our houseplants and cleaned up dog poop in our backyard....we would never have asked her to do either of those things! We would have been happy if Tracy had simply cared for the pets and spent the night in the house but she did a fabulous job of going the extra mile. We will hire Tracy and Pet Gals again for sure. Used Pet Gal for the first time this week and I highly recommend! I had a last minute trip and they were able to accommodate with no issues. I initially met with Tabitha who came to my house to meet the pups/cats and walk me through any questions. They have several options which I liked. Unfortunately I had to cancel last minute and they were understanding then my flight was cancelled and I was stuck in a different city for the night, again they were extremely accommodating and able to get to my house with short notice.
