Our dog goes here for daycare every week. She loves it, and she is tired when she is home as she plays a few times a day. The place is cleaned and they let us get in to the back anytime. We don't do boarding though because they don't have anyone onsite overnight. All the staffs we encountered are nice. read more

I wanted to post an update to my review following my conversation with Dr. Bowen, Firehouse Pet Resort's Medical Director. First, I appreciate the staff taking the time to read my original review and reach out to discuss my concerns. Dr. Bowen was very receptive and stressed willingness to improve customer service. Regarding my original takeaways, clarification was made on items that are free of charge, like the Probiotic, however, it is added/removed on the estimate to show that it is complimentary, which can be confusing with no explanation ahead of time. In my case, I know what it is, but other clients may not or why it's being given to their pet in the first place. Dr. Bowen also explained that Firehouse doesn't post pricing on their website because items vary too greatly and would require constant updating - understandable. To that point, I mentioned their POLICIES could be posted with a disclaimer based on the situation, even if pricing could not. The former shouldn't change all that much. I mentioned that the scheduling staff should have explained that there may be pricing differences, to which he agreed. To me these are key items to improve if the business wants to remain transparent. I was told this all would be taken under advisement for the future. Regarding those same policies, we did have a disagreement on the order in which my pet's medical records were reviewed, and I explained that I was told by the reviewing doctor that, "I should have reviewed the records before determining level of care pricing", whereas Dr. Bowen indicated that he was told the opposite and sided with the other doctor. I also explained the appearance it gives when a client receives one quote, questions it, and then receives a lesser quote. He agreed that this might come across with unintended perception, but it was only done after reviewing my pet's records and the lesser level of monitoring was deemed appropriate. No mention was made regarding discounts for pets from the same household boarding together. In closing, I at no point was questioning Firehouse's medical opinion; I was simply calling out the way that the staff went about conveying changes to boarding pricing based on said opinion, hence, my comments about transparency and how things could be done better. Overall, I do trust the Firehouse Vets with my pet's medical care, and while I didn't choose to board with them this time around, I would likely consider the Pet Resort in the future now that things are little clearer. read more

My little sweetie stayed for about 4 days. Saki was so happy when I picked her up. I could tell she had been taken care of. The staff was very friendly and we even got a nice going home package. They asked questions when I dropped her off and they showed care. I will bring her back anytime we have to go out of town. Reasonably priced as well. Thank you Firehouse staff. read more

I can not say enough about this kennel, they are AMAZING! We have lived in the area for 3yrs now and we have used PetSmart & Pet Suites, neither come close to the care and love given to our two dogs while at Firehouse!! We have a 120lb Dogo Argentino & a 10lb Mauxie. Each time we leave we receive text messages about their status, photo updates, and the dogs are genuinely cared for! I've been looking for a good boarding place for my dog chancho for a while now and I've always been disappointed with everyplace I've taken him to. I had to leave last minute to go out of town and firehouse was the only place in austin that had a spot open on such short notice and I was hesitant to bring him here because of the one bad review. But I have to say I'm so happy I did. I will from now on only be bringing my dogs here.1. They took the time to ask questions about his diet, activity level, behavior. The other places never asked about his diet and did "evaluations" on him to give me a quote. 2. They are soooo affordable compared to the other boarding places and don't up charge you so your dog can have an extra potty break. And it's a flat fee 3. They have a vets office, so if anything happens your pet will be taken care of. They also follow up a few days later to check up on your pet which I thought was so sweet. I'm not one to leave reviews but after seeing how one bad review can really sway people away from a place like this I just had to let y'all know that I recommend this place 100% and I'm a hover dog mom. read more

I called Firehouse after closing and we were able to drop off our dog to be seen the following morning. He was seen within an hour. We started using Firehouse Pet Resort while my daughter was moving to a new house. Our Truvy was just a baby then and she loved it so much that she is now a regular on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. The staff is wonderful and they give Truvy so much love and attention! Truvy is so happy to drive into the parking lot every morning. They are simply the best! read more

If you love your pet as much as we love ours DON'T LEAVE THEM HERE!!! We left Muffin (our 1 year old Yorkie) on July 12 at approx 4pm. I picked her up on Saturday July 17th at approx 9:15am. We left her at the "Pet Resort" with her calming bed (she loves it), 6 zip lock bags of Royal Canin-Yorkie food (1/2 cup per bag), 2 small Greenies dental treats, a small zip lock bag with milk bone minis , her small blanket, and three small toys, her purple harness and her pink leash. When we picked her up the following items were returned. Her calming bed (covered with dried vomit --multiple areas covering every side of the bed!!!!) ,her blanket (with feces on it) , 1 small Greenie dental treat, the entire bag of milk bone treats, 2 small toys, her harness and leash. None of the food was returned ( we sent extra for her). I'm assuming the other toy was either to covered with vomit , feces or both to be returned to us. Now as to Muffin...Her butt and back of her legs were covered in DRY feces!!! She actually had dried poop hanging on the back of leg. Her chin and lower neck had dried vomit stuck to her hair. She cried and whimpered on the drive home. I was so concerned I immediately called Leander Firehouse vet-- our vet is there. They said to bring her in. The wonderful staff there washed her - they expressed shock when they saw her. She stayed there until around noon so they could examine her. When we left Muffin at the Round Rock "Pet Resort" she weighed 6 pounds. When we picked her up she weighed in at 5 lbs 2 oz. (they weighed her at Leander when we took her in). The "report card" from you said she ate a normal amount of food.... HA! No way!!! It it your normal routine to leave a small dog like Muffin locked in a kennel for days with vomit and feces covering their small bodies. Did you feed her at all? I made a point to come and tour prior to leaving our very adorable little Muffin with you. I even read past reviews but at that time no bad ones appeared --now there are several that sound very similar to my experience I actually paid $230 to you so that you could neglect and totally disregard the care of my little Muffin. I trusted you!!! I thank God our trip wasn't longer. I'm not sure Muffin would have survived. I hope that someone there will care enough to investigate this situation. I know that I will never return to your "Pet Resort". Your name certainly doesn't reflect the care that you provided to my poor little Muffin. You should be ashamed !!! July 20 update: Haley from Round Rock Pet Resort contacted me today. She will be taking over the management of the Resort and will now oversee the operation. She was so very sorry for what happened to Muffin during her stay there. She has promised that changes will be made. She apologized for the treatment that Muffin received. I sincerely hope that they can turn things around at the resort as having a vet attached to the resort is such a wonderful asset. That was our main reason for using them. We will be watching the reviews closely. I'm hoping she is successful. read more
