We went to the restaurant with a 4:30 pm reservation. We were told we could only have our table for 1 hour. The manager was take or leave it so we left. It's my birthday and my husband had planned this for a nice birthday . Unfortunately it's Christmas Eve and we couldn't get in anywhere else. We would never go back to Phoenix kitchen with their poor attitude. They shouldn't have overbooked. read more

I liked this restaurant. I really enjoyed the atmosphere, the seating, and the way the restaurant was layed out. The bartender was amazing...our drink order rocked! Our server also was very attentive. The food was really good, came out piping hot, and looked very appetizing. We sat inside and thought the restaurant was really loud. We had trouble hearing each other (4 of us). We came for Valentine's Day and had a spectacular experience. We didn't know there would be a pre-fixe menu instead of the regular menu, but totally makes sense given how busy it was. The options offered for each course all sounded delicious and it was hard to choose. Every single one of our courses were so tasty! It was a little loud given how packed the space was, but we could still hold a conversation and the music provided a clubby/modern vibe. we don't come here that often and I don't know why because every time we come we are just blown away by how good the food and service is. Sat at the bar my wife, she ordered the special which was a peach glazed wood grilled pork chop with smash loaded potatoes and chard brussels sprouts . I had the smoked chicken then they deep fry it......stupid good...it comes with a white barbecue sauce. I got the sauce on the side, not knowing if I would like it or not, but it was good. The chicken was outstanding. Came with coleslaw, which was delicious.. had a couple of their specialty cocktails which are always good. Service was fantastic. This place is a hidden Homer gem. The ambience gives you a very Chicago upscale vibe. Staff greets you right went you walk in. Music is also great! The drinks are delicious. Awesome bourbon list. Food selection is top notch for the suburbs. The pricing is a bit on the high side (understandably so) this place is nice. Honestly, if the prices were adjusted a little better if possible I'd give a 4.5 star review. If you live in the area, it's worth checking out but expect to drop some money if your going to do it right (app, two entrees, drinks, dessert). Dined at this restaurant for the first time and was very disappointed with the food! My fish, Australian Bass was disgusting! A very thin, overcooked portion not much bigger than a blue gill! only a portion of the fish was edible. A friend ordered the smoked prime rib and it looked like it was cooked on a waffle iron. Her baked potato was not cooked and hard! After complaining the manager offered a free desert which was charged and then given as part of a discount. She took $20.00 off the ticket. 1st experience at The Phoenix Kitchen was TERRIFIC. We enjoyed the grilled octopus and the lamb meatballs a lot. Their bread is also an item that we'll order again. The salad was big enough to share, as we did. The KILLER dish was the Rib Eye Steak, served in an iron skillet but also char-broiled on top of asparagus spears. It was EXCELLENT! We finished off with 2 deserts we shared amongst the 4 of us. They, too were way above average! They recently added some outdoor sitting but we stayed inside to avoid possible rain. The only slightly negative item would be that it was quite loud in the dining room. A few more soft items would help this. The bar was BIG and the drinks were very good. I want to start off by saying I've had some very good meals here. The restaurant has a nice ambiance and the staff is amazing, but won't be gong back. I met with a few friends last weekend and I was super disappointed. They had a DJ and there was a major party gathering in the bar area. It was so loud , between the music playing at a high decibel level and partygoers actually yelling over one another to be heard, we struggled to carry on a conversation. On top of that, the meals were substandard, my mahi mahi was dry and cold. Maybe you would benefit from closing off an area for parties in the future, getting some sound proofing, asking the Dj to consider other diners. read more

My husband and I have been looking for a restaurant in the suburbs with a city vibe and we have finally found one. We had our dinner in the wine cellar and each course was better than the last. The octopus was cooked to perfection and mahi was very flavorful. The pasta course was unique, but not my personal favorite. I did appreciate however that they used homemade noodles. The cocktails reminded me of the cocktails you can get downtown at a swanky bar. The only thing that could be improved was the espresso martini. Food outstanding! Everything was so good from appetizers to desserts. Brandy Manhattan was perfect. Hats off to the chef!

First off, I really wanted to rate this restaurant 4 or 5 stars especially because there are limited options in the area and they are just so so close to getting it right, but I am rating it 3 stars in hopes management reads this review (and some of the others with similar complaints) and makes changes. We will definitely be coming back at some point due to few restaurants in the area and I'd love to be able to revise my review then. Second, impression of the decor: the space is good for the area. Excited to see the new patio once it's completed, just in time for summer! My husband and I sat at the bar area, which was solid. The dining area looked OK, but the tables felt too spread out and the lighting was a bit bright for my liking. That said, we would come back and just sit at the bar or at a table in the bar area with a larger group anyway. And finally, onto the drinks and food. The general experience we had was good, but in general something was just "missing" from everything we had. Drinks: I had the spicy margarita, which really just tasted like a regular margarita (a bit on the sweet side) with cut up jalapeños on top. There was also no salt or anything on the rim. Suggestion: use a jalapeño infused tequila or have the bar tender muddle jalapeños to actually make it spicy. Also would suggest giving customers the option of salt or tajin on the rim. My husband had the smoked old fashioned. It wasn't his cup of tea, but he said there was nothing "wrong" with it. He just didn't personally like the cherry wood smoke and he ended up ordering a regular old fashioned afterwards which tasted quite good. I tasted both and no issues from my perspective with his drinks. Food: Cast iron baked bread: presentation was great. It came in a cast iron pan with a butter candle. That said, I realize it is a sourdough bread, but it was just extremely dense, plain, and dry. Suggestion: put a little something on top of the bread like sprinkled Parmesan or rosemary or garlic butter or truffle butter or a bit of honey butter. Just something. I realize the rolls are sitting in a pan of butter but there was just something missing. Beet medley: this had the worst presentation of anything we tried. I've had many beet salads and have never seen anything like this. I was expecting a beautiful beet spread with some greenery, dots of goat cheese, etc. and what we got was a heaped plate of beets with dressing zig zagged all over it like a fast food restaurant. The beets were also apparently on a bed of goat cheese spread onto the plate like cream cheese which I discovered later. I was expecting something that looked like the picture on their Instagram account on Nov 5, 2021 and what we got is depicted in the attached photo. I did eat some of it, and it didn't taste bad, but it was just overall kind of bizarre and not appetizing. Suggestion: serve something that looks like the 11/5/21 Instagram photo. Baja sopes: These were pretty good. The Al pastor and mango salsa filling was overall tasty, could have been a bit more flavorful - seemed to be missing something, cilantro maybe? - but overall quite good. The sopes were too... tall and thick? They also had a corn bread-ness to them. We left some of the sopes and ate the Al pastor and mango filling. Suggestion: make the sopes significantly thinner or perhaps consider making this dish a taco instead. Spicy lettuce wraps: these were quite good also, but have so much more potential. First off, there were only 4 pieces of lettuce, which did align with the amount of filling served but it just felt uneventful. Second, there wasn't enough vegetables relative to the meat. Third, the meat was cut into quite large pieces and was kind of tough to chew in the wrap. Suggestions: add more pieces of lettuce on the plate (perhaps consider using Boston lettuce instead of romaine so each wrap is handheld), add 3x the vegetables, and cut the meat into smaller pieces so it's easier to make and eat the wraps. Four cheese flat bread: this was overall good. Crust tasted a bit 'plain', so did the sauce. Again, seemed to just be missing something - onions, garlic? Not sure. The pizza was also served with little random pieces of lettuce on it which seemed like a strange choice. Maybe it was chicory, still seemed strange. Suggest putting no bits of lettuce at all, or instead using a bit of parsley, basil, or ground pepper instead. The photo in your Instagram account on Jan 20, 2022 appears to use some other kind of garnish that looks significantly better than the random scraps of lettuce that we got. read more

This is now the second time I came to this restaurant. It's really hit or miss. The Korean wraps were good but a bit overdone, the Baja sopes were completely tasteless, don't waste your money on this appetizer. My entree was delicious! The pork was tender and the cherry sauce was the icing on the cake! My husbands dish, the craw daddy was also very good, it was evident that the pasta was fresh but it was also missing a main ingredient:sausage. When this was brought up to our waiter, he replied that he will let the chef know,really?I was expecting them to bring the missing ingredient by the manager, something, but nothing! It was our anniversary and they did give us a complimentary chocolate dessert that was very good. All in all pretty good not wonderful for such prices. read more

If you are looking for an amazing meal, this is your hands down best choice around. Amazing quality food, stellar service and the perfect atmosphere. I can't say enough about the menu, the clean food and the skills of the chef. We had about 10 dishes off the menu, each bite better than the last. The chef, staff and owner are to be commended. This will be our go to spot from now on, no contest. Pork belly bites were the best we have ever had. Soups, salads, entrees, desserts and drinks were all truly exceptional. An unexpected surprise. We found the Phoenix by accident and what a pleasant experience. From the moment you walk in and see the fresh grown herbs you know you are in for a treat! Everything was amazing. We did several apps - I can't pick a favorite because they were all uniquely amazing. My husband had the manicotti and he's pretty picky. It came out in a iron skillet on a wood plank! From atmosphere to presentation to the amazing food-to fantastic service. A++++. We begged them to open one in Downers Grove. Either way we will be back. And back again! Oh and did I mention the desserts. We were treated to two amazing desserts (without ordering them). Holy cow!
