Pork banh mi and egg rolls is my go to! Great place to snag some warm, tasty food after some drinks at Eastside.

Really love this place! Just found out it existed last week and was thrilled to know there was such a healthy option so close to campus when I have very little time in between classes. First time I tried the pork bahn mi. DELICIOUS. Bread was just right, pork was perfectly cooked and tender, veggies were very fresh, and the sauce was oh-so-good. This week I tried the chicken salad, which is basically lettuce + the meat of your choice + all the toppings that come on a bahn mi. I loved this Customer service is friendly, they do a stamp card reward program, they donate tips to community services, and you can text your order to them so it's ready and waiting for you (awesome!). I give TPC a solid 4.5 stars. - 1/2 star for the price. $8.00 is quite a bit for a salad and $7.00 is just a little overpriced on the sandwich IMO, but it doesn't stop me from going every week. I like the way they run this place, I like the food, and I value how fresh it is, so I keep going back. read more

I enjoy going to the Austin St. Truck stop, and The pickled carrot was one of the first trucks I tried. I was not disappointed. The pork bahn mi was delicious, along with the sides they give you. I also had the egg rolls but was only able to eat 1 of the 3 because my wife ate the other 2 while I wasn't looking :( read more

Had a chance to try the Pork and Chicken Banh Mi sandwiches at the Denton Food Truck Festival to celebrate the new train schedule a few weeks back. Have to say the Pork was the best of the two. Had been trying to catch them at their daytime location for the week or so prior and believe it would have been a better first time experience. However they have a great baguette roll that I understand they bake themselves and the sandwiches are really good. Will find them again soon and have another to confirm my suspicion that this is a real winner. read more

May I just say that their cucumber limeade is amazing, especially on hot summer days like these? It was probably the most refreshing drink I've had in a while. The Pickled Carrot is for sure a place I want to return to again. While it is a little bit pricy for a single sandwich, their banh mi is one of the best I have ever had. I had the pork banh mi, and when it came out I was served with energy and a big smile. Service is great! He was probably smiling because he knew it tastes fantastic. The meat is nice and sweet with a spicy, creamy sauce that I've never had in banh mi before. The pickled veggies match perfectly with all of the ingredients. Not too sour, not too sweet. Just right. The ingredients used in the sandwich have the perfect marriage with the cucumber limeade, so I suggest you go try them both together! read more

I was at the Farmers Market and these two guys had their food truck parked there. I wanted something different and so "Vietnamese Sandwich" sounded just right. I had the pork Banh Mi and it was completely awesome! Flavor profile was terrific and the crunch from the carrots was perfect. Crusty bread that soaked up the awesome sauce (pun intended) just made this one heck of a good sandwich. Next time I see them, I'm trying the noodle bowl. Incredible pork banh mi - fresh and crunchy cukes, tangy pickled carrot (their namesake, well chosen), sweet, sour, n seared pork, and the softest, warmest, crispiest baguette. Got dam. V fries are great bar food that I never would have thought to eat. Noodle bowl has a great balance of sweet and sour fish sauce. Tacos are also a solid choice. They're not the fastest - it's usually just one guy manning the truck- but they're always very nice and clearly working hard. I appreciate this place so much. read more

I am addicted to the Pickled Carrot. My only complaint is that they are never open when I am able to get over there! My favorite thing is the chicken banh mi. As other reviewers say, it's HUGE so if you have a smaller appetite, you might consider sharing. The noodle bowls and salads are tasty, too. They can do no wrong in my opinion. It's a food truck, so you have to stalk them on their Facebook to catch them. You can text an order and pick it up so that you don't have to stand around. The entrees are a flat $8 across the board, so no guessing. It's a bit pricey but it's so worth it. Just be warned- you will get hooked. read more

I cannot find any Banh Mi like this anywhere. They have exceptional sauce with unique recipe that makes them so special. The truck usually parks near East Side so you can grab a beer or two and chill. And next to it is Recycled Book Store. I always pay around 4-5 bucks for a Banh Mi but well, their is so good and worth that $8 to try. read more

Great sandwiches! I've only had the pork and chicken bahn mi but they are consistently delicious. The bahn mi bread is what makes the sandwich and they nail it every time by toasting it perfectly. Savory grilled meat and all the fresh veggies in it which include pickled carrot, cucumber, cilantro and sliced jalapeno make this my favorite sandwich of all time. It's spicy but the heat doesn't kill the flavor. This is the best part of getting lunch from Pickled Carrot is that you can text your order and Whitney will have it ready for you in about 10 minutes! It's the best lunch when you have a sleeping toddler in the back seat and you are starving but couldn't bear the thought of going through a drive-thru. read more

Their bahn mi sandwich is amazing! The first time I ordered I got a pork bahn mi, and just can't tear myself away from that original order. I've gotten half the people in my office obsessed with them too. The meat (pork) is flavorful and not fatty. The bread is amazing, and although they don't make it themselves, they should be commended for finding such a wonderful supplier. It's crunchy on the outside, and soft and perfect on the inside. Even better is the service. I frequently pick mine up for a lunch, and can text them my order before I ever leave my office (which is nice on cold, rainy, or hot days). They greet me by name and are very accommodating to special requests. Although I can't speak for it, I've heard great things about the tofu, and will bring myself to abandon my pork one day to try it. read more

Food is good, but customer service is not always great. Usually wait anywhere from 7-10min just order if there's no line. Last time I was there I waited at the window for about 10 min for the guy to finally open the window to tell me he was no longer taking orders. read more

This place was suggested to me by Yelp. It was exactly what I wanted. This place is a food truck stop. Think there were three other trucks plus a barber truck to get a shave??!! Odd but ok. Plenty of tables to hang out at. Eastside is right next to it so you could also grab some beer. We ordered the egg rolls which were delicious, piping hot (temp), and had an amazing crunch. We also ordered the pork noodle bowl and pork sandwich. We put extra meat on both. Noodle bowl had a ton of flavor plus a little spicy kick. It was a nice size. Not super filling. The banh mi was airy and flaky. The pickled carrots were an excellent addition to the sandwich. We ended up putting some of the leftover dressing from the noodle bowl on the sandwich. They did not have any of the specialty drinks so that was a bummer. read more

I adore the pickled carrot. I am halfway through my second punch card. The pork bahn mi is amazing and the v fries are splendid. If I'm out having drinks and pickled carrot is at Austin truck stop best believe I'm getting some good food before I leave. I've tried other places for a bahn mi that will just hold me over until I can get out there with no luck thus far! Definitely recommend to anyone wanting some good food. read more

I ordered the noodle bowl since the bread here does contain butter. Props to the employees for knowing what 'Vegan' means! That doesn't happen often. If you're not a fan of too much spice, order the noodle bowl with tofu, sans sriracha and jalapeños, with the soy vinaigrette! The flavors are really amazing and can't be described in a review. I've been a fan of The Pickled Carrot for a few years now. I stumbled across them at the community market one Saturday and had my first bahn mi ever, it was life changing. My husband and I loved them so much and visited them so often over the next few months to a year that we had them cater our rehearsal dinner. It was a huge hit! We had quite a few people that were less adventurous than my husband and I, and some even verbalized their worry that people wouldn't like it, but we were in wedding plan mode and didn't really care what everyone else thought at that point. :) And surprised! Everyone LOVED it! My personal favorite is the tofu sandwich (and no cilantro for me), my husband loves every type they have with meat. It's the perfect combination of flavors and textures. Three stars because the food is truly really good, but whoever was at the counter last night was very rude. I understand that they were swamped because it was really busy with the concert going on at harvest house, but our buzzer didn't go off for our food (we waited literally an hour to get it) so we went to check on it, and they just gave us cold food (not even lukewarm- cold). We went back to ask for a replacement, not really too upset about it-stuff happens, I get it, I've worked in food service- but when we went back to get our replacement, the person was all like "just so you know, I don't usually replace orders for people like this, because the buzzer definitely went off, but I'm doing it this time." Frankly, like I said, I have worked in food service, and that is not how you talk to customers. I get the sarcasm and element of rudeness if we were being rude to him to begin with, but all we did was go up and say "hey this food is cold-" and he took the food without a word, until he gave us a new buzzer and just said "come back when it buzzes." read more

Update: I LOVE the tofu banh mi.... However I recently became vegan and sadly the tofu banh mi is NOT vegan because apparently they use butter on all of their bread. It would be awesome if they would set some un-buttered bread aside for vegan customers. I would give them five stars if this change was made. I'm really sad that I can't eat the banh mi anymore :( read more
