Random stop during a road trip and I'm so glad we did! The Pier Pub is just that, a pub on a pier. I thought about dropping a star for that. The cheese curds were the highlight of our dinner (sauce could use some seasoning). Chicken strips were quite good too. Perch, I could take it or leave it. Probably just not my thing. Beer menu is limited, but they do have some rotating taps and seasonal taps which was nice. Our server, Clare, was great. When you order a specific salad , with several items in the salad, make sure all item are there. Ordered two of the same salads. Same 4 items missing in both. their excuse was sometimes they run out of some items in the kitchen, and don't tell anybody. No sorry, asked if we were sure if we are missing them, nothing! Hayligh and Kate were so attentive and great to meet and talk to. First time at the Pier Pub so I asked for a recommendation and Hayligh could not have given me a better one! The perch tacos were amazing. Three good size perch filets each on its own for tortilla with homemade pineapple cabbage slaw and a delicious aioli! Wow! We were traveling through the area and wanted to try someplace with views of the lake.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Our visit started out with great service as our waitress gave us great food recommendations. First she recommended popular cocktails and wine. Both were very good. Next she clued us onto the local Ohio favorite of sauerkraut balls. It didn't sound good to us but she said it was an Ohio favorite, so we had to try it. It was very good. A appetizer made of a mixture of finely chopped and drained sauerkraut, cooked meat (often pork sausage or ham), cream cheese, and seasonings, formed into balls a deep fat fried. There is just a hint of sauerkraut in the flavor. Just enough to let you know sauerkraut was part of the recipe but not to much for the non-sauerkraut lovers. For main dishes my wife had the bread preach with french fries. I had the preach tacos with chips. My tacos were out of this world good. Topped with coleslaw mixed with pineapple they were delicious. Overall I would recommend this place to anyone. With a great view of the lake along with great food and friendly service you will not be disappointed. read more

I was up in the Huron area looking for a nice place to get lunch and found the Pier Pub. [[HIGHLIGHT]]What it has is an amzing view of the Lake and inlet which was beautiful.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Inside there is a nice sized bar with a number of tables.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]While the weather was nice it was too windy to set outside on the day of my visit but they have a great outside patio.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The food was quite good and I had to try the fried perch sandwich with coleslaw. Our bartender & server, Ryan was excellent. Knew the menu well, was not shy to tell us what some of his favorites were. I had a hard time deciding between the Salmon BLT and the Perch & Pierogi special. Ryan assured me the pierogis were not frozen and would not disappoint, they did not. We also had the smash burger and it too was great, fresh not frozen with a good bun. Did I mention their fries are fresh cut and really great. We also had an espresso martini, the martini glass was vintage and the drink was great. So many of their items are homemade, we would definitely come back and bring friends. Stopped in for dinner with a group of friends and can't say I'll be back. Food was fine for a sports bar and a great deck off the back, but service was slow and disorganized. We had two different servers for the same table, resulting in food coming at different times, issues with the bill, and confusion. Went here on a recommendation for lunch. Sat on the back patio with a view of the water which was very nice. Our server was also very nice and very accommodating. We ordered 2 sandwiches for lunch. The Blackberry Trio which I had with siracha brussel sprouts. The sandwich as good. Different. Not bad different just not something I would have thought to put together. The bacon was not really Spicey so it didn't offset the sweet like I thought it would. The sandwich is grilled like a panini so the blackberry jam was everywhere so kinda messy too. The siracha brussel sprouts were terrible. The roasted brussel sprouts might have been ok but they were swimming in siracha. Swimming. There was more siracha then brussel sprouts. You don't need to completely douse the vegetable, you can add some spice without drowning and having no taste but siracha. It was very disappointing all around. My partner had the campfire grilled cheese and she liked it as well as the cucumber and tomato salad. The views are great. Plenty of parking. Menu is inventive and not quite average Which is good. Just need to execute better. The ice cream shakes are expensive and look amazing. We did not indulge. I would probably go back and try again. Give them another shot if I am in the area. Absolutely the best food on the water in Huron, Ohio. We enjoyed their lobster artichoke dip with pita...so yummy! They have great flatbread, too. The Three Little Pigs was loaded with toppings and tasted great. Kona beer was a fun option...reminded us of Hawaii. What a great spot to discover in Huron! We come to Huron a few times a year and this is the first time we have seen The Pier Pub, I'm guessing they've only been open for a few months. Indoor and outdoor seating. Live music inside in the afternoon, which is cool because most places don't start their live music until 7 PM. We just ordered drinks, but they do have food, although it does not look like a full menu. Many people were ordering perch sandwiches. Very comfortable patio seating right on the water. And the inside looks newly refurbished. They also have ice cream in the front, so you can stop with the kids without going into the bar area. And they have a dog friendly patio! Update: as we were leaving, I put a beer that I didn't drink much of on the bar. The bartender asked me what was wrong. The beer was just too fruity for me, so she insisted on replacing it. We sat inside and had another drink. We also ordered the chips and salsa; so incredibly fresh and delicious! Love this place. Definitely will be back. read more

Stopped in after a walk on the pier in Huron. A hostess sat us inside as the patio was full. She mentioned someone would be with us or we could order at the ice cream counter. So we studied the menu and waited on someone to come to the table for about 15 minutes. We finally waived the hostess down again and she said we could just order at the counter if we were getting milkshakes. Very confusing, as another table that sat after us had a server. So my fiancé went to counter and ordered milkshakes for our party. They didn't have a dairy free option so I went to the bar and ordered a beverage instead of getting ice cream. My son, his girlfriend and my fiancé all enjoyed their over the top milkshakes. Were they worth $14 each? I don't think we'll be in a rush to come back soon but it was a guilty pleasure for them. read more

If it hadn't been for somebody in our group knowing this restaurant, I would never have known I was in the right place. The outside was very unassuming and not all that inviting. We were here for a special event of about 35 people, but unfortunately there was another event going on at the same time. Trying to get a drink was chaotic and there were very few seats. We couldn't go outside because it was swamped with people from the other party. Our food was set up by the front door, which was awkward. Came for early lunch at 11 am on Sunday & only breakfast menu available. Just a heads up for those of you looking for that caprese sandwich like my dining partner. That being said I had the panini with gouda, bacon & blackberry jam. It was delish! The coffee is pretty fantastic too. They have a fun set up where you pick your own cup. The service was also good. Too bad it was too cold & windy to sit outside. I think it would be worth coming back next summer for that. read more
