Forget the bad reviews. This place is legit. Good southern BBQ. I was not to sure about the brisket from previous reviews, but I seen him slicing this bark crusted juicy slab of meat and went for it. I have the combo Rib, Brisket & homemade sausage all very good. Sides were Cole Slaw & beans, father in law had Potato salad, all three sides were amazing. Great selection of beer too. BBQ was something that I was craving all week, so what better place than Mississippi! We stayed in Jackson for the weekend, so this was one place we decided to try! I got the bbq chicken sandwich w/ a side of smoked Mac and cheese while my boyfriend got the smoked wings with the same side. We were satisfied with everything! I've been here a couple of times - food is consistent and delicious. It's always hot and the service is stellar. Stopped in here by accident while in Jackson for medical appointment. Wanted to go to place down the street but no parking. It was straight up 11 and plenty of parking. So happy we did. I ordered the fried green tomato BLT and my husband ordered the bacon melt which had brisket and pork belly. My BLT was made fresh. It was delicious. I had the greens for a side but it proved too much to eat so I had to prioritize! My husband scarfed down every bite of his sandwich and his Mac n cheese. We would definitely recommend the place. Ok, so my first experience was "Meh", and after being contacting by the owner I vowed to give them another shot! ... Thinking, maybe it was a fluke. Well, tonight was the night for "Take 2!" I saw that The P&P was having "BBQ, Bingo, & Beer" night so I signed the family up for a re-visit. It was unanimous. We all agreed that this visit was definitely better than the first. We ordered the Que Platter (with fried green tomatoes and potato salad), Pulled pork nachos, and the sausage and cheese platter. Although we still weren't thrilled with the flavor of the sides, the main entrees were pretty good! The brisket and pulled pork nachos were tonight's favorites. I even tasted the meat without BBQ sauce, just to be sure it was on point. This visit definitely made up for our mediocre first impression. To celebrate the BB&B event, I decided that we should also have a beer. (Actually, I'm more of a cider girl.) I was initially bummed that they don't carry Angry Orchard, my favorite, but Stella Cidre is a decent runner up. So I grabbed a Cidre and a Henry's Hard Orange Soda for the table. Great prices and a friendly bartender. Tonight's bingo host was awesome as well. Although we didn't win, we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and stayed for about 4 rounds of bingo! Great BBQ - GREAT beer selection - fantastic meal! Came into the P&P after a long day of work. It had been on my radar since before arriving to Jackson, so I am glad I made it out here during my trip. The staff was super friendly - and helpful with navigating the menu. I got a 1/2 rack of Pepsi-Cola Glazed BaBy Back Ribs. I literally ate them with my fork - they fell of the bone! They have various sauces on the table - and I slathered some of that on top as well....delicious. I got a side of pork rinds - these were good - for what they were....but as a Cuban, I would much rather the chicharon variety. STILL...these were a nice side. You order your beer separate - from the other side of the restaurant that's facing all of the tables. I chatted up the bartender a bit - she was awesome. Had some really good stories and although her beer knowledge wasn't the best - she could explain what each beer was. I went with some local and localish brews - there was a coffee porter that was incredible....forgot the name of the brewery! Believe the hype. This is a true bbq joint. This is the most perfect BBQ place I've ever been to. The brisket and pulled pork were perfect. The many beers on tap were stellar. I have always enjoyed Pig & Pint, but this is my first time to come with an allergy. They were very aware and DO have a gluten free menu. They pulled out the menu, photos attached, when i said i had a gluten allergy; but it is possible that they have other allergy menus. My husband and I split the brisket plate. He did get the fries and toast just in a separate container. I got the comeback coleslaw, which is gf. The coleslaw was very mild, not much flavor. The brisket was tender and pulled apart easily. I am in town because a family member passed away (RIP). Just looked on yelp to see who had the best BBQ in Jackson and The Pig & Pint popped up. Well, I decided to give them a try since I LOVE BBQ!!! I didn't put the name together to mean "pig" = BBQ and "pint" = bar. I didn't realize that until I walked in. Nice concept! Nice bar, too, with a wide selection of beers. My type of bar! Now for the food... The green beans and cole slaw was tasteless. Same for the brisket that had a different look to what I was accustom to and was chewy. The sausage was good, but I get the sense that it wasn't smoked and if it was I wish it was smoked longer. The ribs are not going to fall of the bone, a dense meat that was chewy and pink inside! The bread was very good. Sauce was just ok and the NC mustard style BBQ was excellent. Service was above and beyond excellent and helpful. I just noticed my plate looked nothing like Jason D.'s pics. Or better yet Al P. 's! Skimped on my portions, didn't we Pig and Pint??? Wow, dude. I went with family and everybody raved over their food (The ONLY reason why they get 3 stars). I had ribs, pulled pork, and sausage, cole slaw and beans. The big disappointment was the ribs. They were dry and had very little meat. The ribs I remember had the bones literally falling off the bones. The pulled pork was dry and nothing special. The sausage was good, but how do you mess up sausage? When I returned home to Jackson for a visit, I asked two friends for a recommendation for good barbecue place. Considering they had grown up in Jackson, I was a bit shocked at how long it took them to come up with a suggestion. And another friend told me to go to The Pig & Pint. Excellent recommendation! I ordered some nachos with cheese that did not have the consistency of ballgame Velveeta cheese. The nachos had pop in the flavour as a result. The winners were the barbecue chicken tacos and the brisket tacos. I was quite satisfied. The Pig & Pint is on my slideshow list for when I go back home to visit. read more
