Second time to have Pig and Pint. This time it was from their catering food truck. I got the barbecue brisket nachos which I thoroughly enjoyed. There was a nice amount of brisket and it had a great flavor and was very tender. The nachos had a lot of queso on them as well. It was a bit pricy at 12 dollars, but that may have been due to the catering truck being at a special event. Hope to make it back to the restaurant soon to try out the full menu. read more

Disappointed. Came here five years ago and food was fabulous. This time I ordered the pit master: ribs, brisket pulled pork, plus 1/2 lb ea. of both chicken and sausage. Ribs were fine. Sausage was great. Brisket was okay - it was moist, but sliced close to 1/2" thick and I could not detect any smoke flavor or much bark - like someone cooked it in an oven. Listen, y'all, I've been in New England for two years, and I've been dying get back home to Mississippi for some legit BBQ. Becuaee one thing is for certain: Yankees don't know how to work the pit. So you have to trust me when I say I was damn surprised to walk into this joint for a few good reasons: 1.) The Q is flipping phenomenal 2.) The sides are damn good too, and they're creative 3.) The atmosphere is just cool and laid back. For starters, the BBQ here is on point. It's tender as hell, juicy, full of flavor, and the sauce is sweet with a little kick. I had the pulled pork sandwich and some of my cousin's brisket. And I can't say enough how delicious it all was. We also had some fried boudin balls that I've got to talk about. Look, boudin is good. But fry it up in a ball like a hush puppy?!? Good God almighty, I love the South. These things are the best damn appetizer I've had. I mean that in all sincerity. Stopped by for dinner on Saturday evening, this place was a great little find. Their beer selection alone is extremely impressive, and prices are extremely fair. The food was served up quick and hot! We chose an assortment of boudin balls, pork belly corn dogs, and fried green tomatoes. The boudin balls were a bit different than I'm used to, but I think they use some of their barbecue pork in it and stead of houdin sausage, But it's a nice variation. Corn dogs were great, but the fried green tomatoes were a big winner with us. Next time we're in Jackson, we will make sure to stop by again. This is not the best BBQ I've had in Mississippi but it is the best I've had in Jackson. This is a cool spot in a cool neighborhood that seems to be rapidly going through a revival. Fortunately they seem to be working pretty hard to maintain as much of the original charm of the original structures in this area which adds extra bonus points to this neighborhood that has a lot of 1940-60's glitz with a bit of vintage "lived in" aging added on top. The brisket plate and brisket tacos were good and the sides were above average. The 2 sauces were both quite nice with a mustard based sauce and more traditional sweeter sauce which I proceeded to blend into a combination of my own preference. The only real negative I have to bring up is they are a Pepsi products establishment ughhhh I just can't see any self respecting Southern joint using Pesi over Coca-Cola as I'm a Coke man myself and HATE Pepsi. Fortunately I drink mostly unsweet iced tea these days so they do a great job of brewing that. They have a lot of outdoor patio seating and less indoor seating and this is obviously a VERY popular venue in the area as it was packed during a late lunch when I arrived. Overall I would definitely suggest making a stop in here if you find yourself in the area and they also have a fantastic beer selection to enjoy. read more

I'm guilty. I am a barbecue fanatic. And in the last decade I've been to more than 500 barbecue restaurants and shacks across America. On a recent drive from New Orleans to Monroe we decided to detour and head to Downtown Jackson to check out this well rated restaurant. And I have to say it was worth every mile we drove to get here. Having visited Jackson many times I can say that no other barbecue around compares to this. The food here can hold its own against most other barbecue places of the country. We did a pretty good job sampling many items in our mini feast but I'd like to come back and try more. Sausage Plate: This small pieces of sausage were packed with flavor and nearly melted in your mouth. Slapping them inside the crackers with a slice of cheddar cheese was a meal in itself. Pitmaster Sampler Highlights Half Chicken: I knew what I was getting into when my knife made its 1st slice into the bird and juices spewed out all over the place. This chicken was moist, tender and loaded with flavor. Brisket: The chefs did a phenomenal job shedding the fat, but maintaining the brisket's flavor. The brisket was so tender then you didn't even need to use your knife. Ribs: No need to use your fork or knife on these ribs because the meat fell right off the bone and was well seasoned. Potato Salad & French Fries: These sides are slightly better than average, but didn't blow us away. If they were incredible like a few other barbecue places in America then we would have given a 5- star. Banana Foster Pudding: Hands down this desert is one of the best desserts I've ever had. I would drive two hours out of the way again just to eat this. If you've ever been to Dreamland in Alabama imagine a dessert that's better than their banana pudding by a lot. This is what they've achieved here. If you're looking for good barbecue this place must be on your radar. And don't forget to order the dessert. You also find a safe, clean and inviting restaurant with wonderful service. read more

If I could only rate one restaurant in Jackson it would be this one. Hands down my favorite place overall. The atmosphere is so chill, great place for families and groups with the big benches outside. Also really aesthetic lighting outside so it's never too late to sit outside. They even have a trivia night once a week that is a great time. But most Importantly they have the best bbq nachos I've ever had. Big hearty chunks of smoked meat and lots of fresh tasting toppings. They do add a hunk of sour cream so if you don't like that you'll have to let them know. The barbecue sauce is just delicious. They're served on a bed of thick corn chips that don't get soggy and crack under weight so you can take your time. Serving size is enough to share. Absolutely must try. read more

It is rare I give 5 stars, but this place gets them. I bought a rack of ribs, pound of pulled pork, beans, slaw, and potato salad combo. Every thing was perfect and not too spicy, sweet, or salty. On 1/5/24, I stopped at this restaurant for lunch one person has not been there and my & I try to eat at this restaurant when we are passing through Jackson, MS. This BBQ restaurant is by far best around. The food is always good. The people are really nice and very helpful, full of suggestions. The restaurant is in an old service station from many moons ago a very neat place. The day before we ate at Guy Fieri's place in Branson, MO., it does not even come close to the food quality or the value for the buck that The Pig & Pint offers too the customers. Came here today for lunch and it was pretty packed. We were lucky to get inside seating since outside the temp felt like 100+. We ordered the wings with fries (fries were great)!!! Boudin balls, brisket platter with beans and fried green tomatoes, and lastly the bread pudding. My favorite sauce was the mustard BBQ sauce with the brisket. It wasn't as good and moist as I've had in Texas but it was good nonetheless! The beans were ok and the tomatoes were everything! So good with the dipping sauce. We have traveled the world and most of the United States. I am a Meatoligist and if is some form of meat I am gonna want a bite. BBQ is one of my fave types of meat. There are a few places in Texas (Lockhart Smokehouse) and the Jose Andre's Bazaar Meat in Vegas along the with fire grilled meats at Edith's in Cabo. They make my mouth water just thinking about them. The Pig & Pint are right up there. I have tried 5 other BBQ places so far since our move here and this place is King of the meat right now. Been there 4 times now and only one average meal and maybe they were just having a off night as it was slow but our sides were cold and the BBQ wasn't as juicy. Al the other times the food and service have been outstanding. We will try and keep finding every capable Meat slayer in Mississippi to compare to but right now these guys get our vote for number 1. read more
