Wanted to try something up the coast. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Surprisingly busy for the time of day. It is a nice pub with bar in the center surrounded by tables.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Seated ourselves and our drink order taken by the bartender and our waitress made her way over eventually. Ordered the pretzel and cheese sauce. Pretzel was hot and good while the cheese sauce was a tad runny. Did not really cling to the pretzel as I would have liked. Fish and chips were very flavorful and came with a generous portion of fries. Guinness beef pot pie was flavorful and a good portion. The crust was browned nicely but still slightly under. Chicken pot pie was not as flavorful as the beef pie but others thought it tasted good. The pastry was burnt at one end and raw in the middle. Seems like made fresh but technique needs refinement. The waitress was attentive and made sure our glasses were refilled. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Protip: there is patio sitting unfortunately that is where the smokers go.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Come one, come All. The dream team.... Ashley, Sara, Brian,.. and James making it happen in the kitchen.. Be the ball, make your future and enjoy a fine meal and great libations right here in Cocoa Beach.

It was nice to be able to walk here from our rental. OMG the place was packed on a Saturday before 6pm. There was some sort of party group that took up half the bar/restaurant. I chose the special Winter Salad. Shrimp, goat cheese, and pomegranate seeds made it very good. Nice portion as well. Enough to eat in one sitting without having to take some home which never tastes good. Husband had the fish and chips which was a signature item. It was excellent. Lightly battered fish. Hot crispy fries. Very good. Staff was great, especially given how crazy it was in there. Definitely an English pub vibe. Want to go back and try a pot pie. Looked yummy.

Stopped by with a party of 8. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Friends and family had a great time.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Service was excellent, helpful, with a great attitude. The food was delicious. Prices are good. I'll be back to watch a Manchester United game soon, and to try other menu items.

We had the Guinness Beef pot pie. The service is very nice. The servers were friendly and food is very fresh. First time eating this I find it quite delicious and very affordable. Madelyn was our server and was very helpful, and knowledgeable about the food. Highly recommended

First off pictures of the place do not fully capture this spot. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It's got great curb appeal and the inside is well done very tasteful.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We ordered the fish fingers for appetizer and seafood pie for main. Fish fingers came in a basket with fries. The batter had a nice beer batter type crunch but fish still fresh and moist inside. The seafood pie was excellent, not too rich and not obnoxious with overloaded cheese. The sauce was very well done not just a basic overly rich sauce full of cream. Tons of seafood chunks. Also we went on a Saturday night and my black and tan was $2 off a nice surprise. Overall recommend we hit this place up the night before a cruise and would def return.

This wasn't my first visit, thought I would try again. My friend's meatloaf was tough and dry. Once again I ordered the fish and chips as it had been recommended by another at my table. I was hoping for improvement. The fish was so greasy I had to put 2 napkins under to soak up the grease. Very disappointing. The service was good.

Parking was very easy with tons of space around the building. We were greeted by the Manager and he sat us outside per our request. The patio is lovely with lots of tables, fresh flowers and TVs. We ordered the Bavarian pretzel to start. We got it with cheese sauce and caramel. Holy crap. It was the best pretzel we've ever had!! Get both dips and mix them, you'll thank me. My son got a Reuben and ate the entire thing. He said it had lots of flavor and the french fries were mid. My other son got Philly cheese steak, it was a special, and fries. We also got onion rings. They were just ok. Wouldn't get those again. We got a Shepard pie and a chicken pot pie to share. Chicken pot pie tasted like it was made from scratch, which it likely was. The crust was flaky and buttery and crisp. The flavor was great! The Shepard pie was so authentic tasting. Mashed potatoes were scratch made, chunky and made perfectly. The flavor was so rich! Our waiter was Ted. He was friendly and attentive. We will definitely come back.

Seating is a little old and dated but it's a pub so who cares. With their windows open you can sit outside, they have a very generous patio area. I moved from inside to outside, had a nice glass of wine and enjoyed the atmosphere. It's an incredibly friendly atmosphere lots of fun people and if you want dessert after having one of their giant pretzels there's ice cream next-door. The music was fine, the people were fine and did I mention that they are dog friendly? I got to pet all the puppies! That just made me even happier if it was possible. I hardly ever go anywhere anymore since Covid so this was a wonderful change. I will be back for sure and enjoy the ambience, the wonderful service, and the atmosphere. There is absolutely nothing to dislike about the Village Idiot pub!

**INITIAL REVIEW**…read more Apparently, the Yelp Skynet a.k.a. the AI that green or red flags reviews, doesn't like the actual name of this pub despite the fact it is the pub's name. Ergo, I will use the abbreviation VI for the remainder of this review. Besides that, you really can't go wrong going to any of the pubs in Historic Cocoa Village. VI is one of the pubs on the eastern side of the Village, in between the famous Fat Donkey's Ice Cream and the furthest east pub in the village, Ryan's. Appearance-wise, the outside fits primarily with the building, but there are some minute details that give it its own personality, primarily around its name. There is also a section of the road and sidewalk that have been garrisoned for VI as outdoor seating and games such as bean bag toss. Indoors, it is definitely your kinda pub that many of the patrons are friends. The right side (East) have long tables with many pub and drinking games such as Hook & Ring and Shut The Box. There is a bookshelf filled to the brim with board games in case patrons prefer traditional or childhood classics. The left side (West) is the "Patio," a room that is decorated by numerous plants, neon lighting, widker and a black-and-white checkerboard floor. Finally, the middle of the pub is the actual bar, in the form of an L-shape serving a nice arrangement of beers from many breweries, cideries, distilleries, and meaderies across the United States. I had the Kentucky Vanilla Barrel Cream Ale by Lexington Brewing and Distilling Co. Other beer selections I would recommend include the Pineapple Cider by the famous Carib Brewing Co. and the Mango Cart by Golden Road Brewing. Personal note on the latter: Mango Carts, well for me, only taste good when straight from the tap. Cans are not good. And the food, it is minimal, but boy does VI know how to tug at my heartstrings as everything they have features, or could feature, cheese. They have pretzels with cheese, pickles with cheese, and my personal favorite, grilled cheese sandwiches. And for the more sophisticated patron, they have numerous choices in charcuterie boards, too. I will also state the drink prices are a bit on the high side compared to some other places I been to. And there are two restrooms that are single-serving and gender-specific. I don't believe the latter has to be gender-specific because they are single-serving. The barn doors are an interesting choice because they are not very good at blocking sound. I guess that is why VI blasts the music so nobody can hear the flatulence. Speaking of music, VI does have a small corner stage for small acts, possibly singular, to perform. Unless there is a pull-out large stage for outdoor performances, I don't see big bands, per se in higher number of members, performing here unless they can all jam in that tight-spaced stage. Ultimately, I am going to give VI three-out-of-five stars for this review. They are a solid pub that has all the fixin's of a good bar to go to. Maybe it is safe to say they really don't stand out too much, especially amongst the more unique bars in Historic Cocoa Village. But still, a good place to have a drink with friends with that "Everybody knows your name" kinda vibe.

Man I really wanted to like this place but I just couldn't!!…read more It is a really mundane place over all. The ambiance is that of every other bar, which in itself isn't bad but it is when you don't do anything to really stand out. I ordered the southern burger and their special of deviled eggs. The deviled eggs were really good but only 6 half eggs was $12. Way overpriced in my opinion. The burger looked really good but for $22 for the burger and the fries, it better be top notch. Burger came out over done, with the entire bottom bun completely soaked in juice. It basically fell apart by the end of the meal. I will say the fries were really good but for $45 with a tip FOR ONE PERSON this place is way over priced for what you get. I also thought my service was just okay as well. Wouldn't recommend this place and won't be back.

They had the traditional Irish fare. My friend ordered the Ruben sandwich with sweet potato fries. She commented on how much corned beef in the Sandwich and how delicious the fries were. I ordered the corned beef and cabbage. Only $20.00. I received at least a half pound of very lean corned beef, red potatoes, carrots and steamed cabbage. A very generous serving. The corned beef was really lean , moist, tender, and very flavorful. What a great meal. They had traditional Irish music. Great atmosphere for the holiday. We had a great time.
