And of course being in the Philippines, the nachos had diced mango. :) The calamari was pretty good and while Kare Kare is not my particular favorite, again, they out did themselves on the presentation. I ordered the shrimp ceviche and again ...gotta love the Filipino twist with diced mango. The portions were bigger than expected so pleasantly surprised. What I also really liked was the drink options. Most places have the traditional banana, pineapple, mango or coconut flavored shakes but Haven Bistro adds a twist with either cilantro, mint or basil. The pineapple basil shake and mango cilantro shake were pretty good. Of course they were fresh with real ingredients. The service was very good. Our order took a little time but no worries when you know it's being freshly made and being in the cool restaurant was a nice break from the heat and humidity outside. A noticeable difference was when they served us water, it actually had ice - a significant difference from just about anywhere else. The service was very polite & courteous - but have to say that is the normal in the Philippines. The tacos were to die for. The location was perfect, only because my room was right above the restaurant. You get alot for what you pay for. Since my room was upstairs and the restaurant was part of the Club Haven (Boracay Haven Resort/Suits), I got free breakfast delivered every morning. I ordered a cheese french toast one morning and it was, again, to die for. Their pancakes were delicious too. The employees were great. Very helpful and always with a smile. At night, the place turns into a buffet. Never got to try it, but the food they were cooking looked equally delicious. The private beachfront right in front of the store is cleared and chairs and tables are set up. Live music is playing and they also provide hookah.

I also tried their Sisig appetizer as a meal but it was a little too oily but good flavors. It was a little on the salty side or that might be their food in the Philippines. We also tried their fried Piri Piri chicken wings. It was all soggy breading than chicken. There was barely any chicken or it was just a small chicken wings with barely any meat. I think the sauce is the only thing I liked. We had their shakes. The mango shake was a good size and taste but the lychee coconut was more lychee flavor than coconut shake. The two drinks cost only around $8 USD / $11 CAD. I could not believe the lack of value to food quality and taste at this restaurant. They should not represent a 4+ star rating on Google reviews. AKLAN ADOBO WINGS: I was really craving fried wings and was hoping that's what these would be, but I guess it makes sense that they weren't since adobo isn't usually deep fried. The sauce was tasty, but for some pieces the meat was a bit dry. GARLIC RICE: Simple but delicious and really helped round out the meal. I dipped them in the garlic butter to remedy the dryness. Lastly, the prawns were excellent. They were large, plump and bursting with flavor from the sauce. The dessert was only okay bc the ice needed to be shaved better, and it was missing flan. Regarding the ambiance, its casual here like all the beachfront restaurants near our hotel.
