The Pig Rig BBQ satisfied my summer BBQ craving that hits at the start of the season. I stopped in and got a two meat combo with pulled pork, brisket, and a side of cowboy beans and cornbread. At first, I thought that there was a mistake in my order because the serving of meat all looked the same, but it turns out that the brisket is pulled, not sliced, so it looks a lot like the pulled pork. I liked the flavor of the brisket better than the pork, which tasted a bit off, and I think might have been a bit freezer burned. The meats were tender and juicy, though, and the sauces were very good, with a nice variety to choose from in serve-yourself fashion. Manager tells us that they are going to be expanding soon. Considering the food I've got to say that they are going to need the room. I got the burnt ends platter. The meat itself was perfect. We were visiting the area and found this little place thanks to Yelp. (Thank you, Yelp! ) Although it is tricky to find ( use the Google machine ) it was well worth it. We had pulled pork sandwiches that were great, on par with some of the best we have eaten. The sauces in the bottles on the table were fabulous, addictive. The smoked mac and cheese was very tasty, just the right amount of smoke and very cheesy. We were there at lunchtime on a weekday, and there were plenty of seats in the spacious dining room. Ribs: excellent, smoked perfectly, nice smoke ring, sauced nicely, but a little cold. Brisket: I prefer sliced instead of chopped so I was disappointed, it was almost as if it was left over from the day before, it just tasted reheated, and my portion was mostly hard barky pieces. Mac and cheese, soggy, and flavorless. Tasting off the BF's plate, the pulled pork was okay had a nice smoke flavor, beans were good too. Our total for 2 combo's with 2 meats and no drink was $36 ($20 was the internet coupon I purchased for $10) so in reality for $26 out of pocket. To be honest, I was a bit skeptical pulling into the strip mall, but wow! Very impressed! Got a combo so tried the brisket, pulled pork and chicken all were delicious and moist and crispy on the edges. Also, the Mac and cheese was surprisingly good, normally Mac and cheese at bbq joints are to me pretty mediocre, but this even had some smoke taste and the coleslaw was crispy and yummy. Been here a couple times in a couple weeks because its right down the street from my new office. That's a problem because the food is so good but not the most healthy. The ribs tend to be just shy of falling off the bone, the sauce is thick and rich, and they're the right amount of messy. Sides are great. Usually they're what make a good BBQ joint, and Pig Rig does not disappoint. Every kind of mac & cheese hits the spot. The beans are crazy good. Haven't tried the ones with hot dog in them, but ice heard good things from my coworkers. The coleslaw was a little too cabbage for me, but still delicious. The servings are pretty large and filling, but that's to be expected. Go here on an empty stomach and plan to leave full. My wife had a two meat platter (beef brisket and chicken), which was more food than she could eat. The meat was very good. She also raved about the coleslaw - crunchy and nicely spiced. Just come here and eat already. We were traveling from NYC back to Boston and needed to grab lunch quickly off the highway. Could not have made a better choice. The food was unbelievable, the best barbecue I've had north of North Carolina. It was ready and waiting for us. I got the pulled pork with Mac and cheese on top, and the side of collard greens made you forget you were eating vegetables (they were that good). The owner, Dan, greeted everyone like they were old friends and clearly enjoys talking to his customers. Everyone in the place seemed to really like him, and it's obvious why- the man has a great personality and boy, can he and his team cook great barbecue. If you like BBQ at all you NEED to eat there. I had the Two Meat Platter with Pulled Pork and Beef Brisket and a side of the Diesel Beans. The flavor of the Pulled Pork was outstanding. The Brisket was very good too but I felt the Pork was even better. I got the Cinnamon Sweet Potato bread too (yummy). Right now the eat-in area is cozy but there are some nice outside seats. They are going to expand into the space next door to really enlarge the seating capacity (manager mentioned to me). The Manager and Cook were Super friendly and very easy to talk to. Took the wife here because she wanted a brisket sandwich, and I can always go for some ribs. We were both hungry walking in, and full walking out. My wife loved the brisket, and commented to me about how there was so much meat on it, which is what you want with a BBQ place. The ribs were just about as perfect as you can get. Flavorful, meaty, and BIG. Couldn't even finish the half rack, but I can't wait to eat the rest later! The pulled pork mac and cheese was really good too. We stopped here for lunch while halfway through a four hour drive to visit relatives - thanks to Yelp reviews! The reviews of this place are spot on. The food is really good, service is pretty quick, prices are right, and the menu has a ton to choose from. My boyfriend and I each got different combo meals and tried different sides so all in all we tried six different menu items - he really liked the sweet potato loaf and I though the mac and cheese was delicious, but everything was really good. We almost stopped here on our drive back as well, but opted to try a different restaurant instead. This place was better. Good BBQ. Meat was done great and sides were good. I would suggest they wet brine the chicken to make it a bit juicer. All in all worth the drive and worth what we paid. The barbecue in this place is just so-so. The ribs were very meaty and they were very tender they didn't fall off the bone but with a little bite they came right off which is exactly how I like them but the flavor on the ribs was very lacking. not a lot of smoke flavor and without the barbecue sauce it really didn't seem like they'll be any flavor at all. the burnt ends were way overpriced for what you got the corn bread although very tasty does constantly fall part very tough to eat it without just using a fork on it. Tried Pig Rig for the first this evening drove a way (30 miles) to sample....I ordered dinners with brisket, chicken, ribs, BBQ beans, Mac and cheese and cornbread. The BBQ beans were 4 star.....Mac & cheese - 3.5 star Brisket - 4 star........chicken - 3 star.......pork ribs - 5 star ........ Cornbread - can't rate it cause it wasn't cornbread......some type of cornbread shaped imposter that tastes like lemon-vanilla muffin. My dogs enjoyed it. I would go back for the ribs, beans, Mac & cheese.....hopefully next time the cornbread will be the real stuff. Can't go BBQ without cornbread. The guys at the counter were really nice and they highly recommended the burnt ends. My friend and I split a full rack of ribs, burnt ends, mac and cheese, cole slaw and sweet potato bread. Everything was amazing. The meat was tender and tasty. There are a ton of sauces to choose from for dipping and I could not decide which one was my favorite. GIven that I am a big mac-n-cheese fanatic, I was really disappointed with the pulled pork mac-n-cheese. The consistency and cheese felt like instant mac and had very little taste. I was impressed with the amount of meat that came with my brisket and for the price, this is not bad. I think the most important thing that this place can do to improve its food is the sauce. It seems very salty and has too much of a ketchupy-flavor to it. If the BBQ sauce can be changed, I think this could dramatically improve the flavor profile, which directly affects the other BBQ menu items, since it is incorporated in most everything! read more

The service here was unparalleled. Workers learn your name and continue you to call you by it (or "sir" if they forget) throughout the duration of your meal. There's nothing there that isn't smoked to perfection or slow cooked until tender and juicy. I have been wanting to try this place for a long time upon hearing it actually moved to a storefront. It was well worth the wait! We were greeted by the owner, Dan, who was great at leading the way for putting together a meal that best displayed the variety of what this place offered. We ended up ordering two different platters....one was the half rack of ribs, red cabbage cole slaw, and the cinnamon bread. The other platter was two meats....brisket and pulled pork, with baked beans and corn bread. Just to be a glutton for punishment, I added a bbq chicken thigh. Needless to say, we gobbled up the food in record time, but it was too much! Leftovers will be welcome tomorrow. Small storefront with only three small hightops and a side counter. Your food is served with plastic utensils(too cheap to properly cut with), all in styrofoam containers. Personally, it would have been better served on hard plastic plates and better utensils, if they dont want to start with glass. That is my only criticism. The menu variety is very plentiful as are the portions. Seems like they do a brisk take out business. Parking is beyond plentiful since it is in a large shopping center.
