In town for a game, looking for a random affordable spot we stumbled here. The theme and name was unique. The inside decor was even more unique. A little uncertain but the service and welcoming nature made it seem like we were ok. Then the small open view kitchen made us feel comfortable. And then there was the taste.... These were some of the best burgers I have ever had that I had to go back and try other stuff. Each time I'm there the owner comes out and talks to the kids. I tried moose burgers the other day with my cousin . The atmosphere is nice it was a bit confusing trying to figure out how to get inside. They have a deck outside and had music starting a little after we were leaving. I ordered the mushrooms and raw onion my burger was saturated in whatever the mushrooms were cooked in I could not eat the roll at all . Then I ordered the hot Mexican street corn . It was very bland and cold . . My coding had a basic burger it was better but definitely Didn't taste homemade.it cam with fries it was fair . Quaint restaurant off the highway in Meriden Connecticut we were looking for a place to grab a burger quick and Moose certainly did not disappoint. The atmosphere is a mix between a north east New Hampshire log cabin and a Montana mom and Pop lodge/store. The wait staff was very friendly very helpful. Even when there was a delay in our food, they provided us with complementary fries and popcorn, family, friendly environment, seating outside on a patio as well as indoors.. Newbie Alert.. I have ridden by this placw hundreds of times and I decided to check it out. Not at all what I expected.. in a good way. So different and a breath of fresh air. Lots of goodies to check out and buy on addition to what's on the menu. Menu was ok, I am sure you can find something to your liking. Portions are large for the price. The food was good not great but good. Service was great.. I was seated snd served within 5 minutes of walking in the door. I was in the general area and discovered Moose's via Yelp search. It's located near the Merritt and 91 intersection. They have creative burgers, dogs, chicken sandwiches and some mains. It's located in a house-like structure with a nice patio. I didn't spend much time inside, but I think there was a small dining area. I ate on the patio. Service was friendly. I ordered a Black and Blu Burger and thin cut fries. The crispy fries were a highlight. The 1/3 pound burger was topped with bacon, Gorgonzola and Black Garlic Mayo. The burger was in between a smash burger size and a bigger restaurant style of patty. It was good, but didn't pop in terms of juiciness or flavor like the best burgers. Certain bites were a bit too salty in effect because of the bacon and Gorgonzola. But the Black Garlic Mayo was sweeter and helped balance the flavors. The brioche bun was fresh. Stopped here randomly driving back to Jersey from Maine. I tried the Huckleberry Goat and my boyfriend got the Mickey D one which the waitress said was popular. We made it back. It's still frighteningly small as seemed more noticeable by the live music. I liked the music and the guy playing. I was hoping to play a tune or two myself. It was a hard decision for the side, but I went traditional and ordered the regular fries. The fries were crispy and lightly salted. My friend ordered the Bacon Jam and Cream Cheese Burger and a side of super cheesy mac. After watching her enjoy her meal, I think this will be what I try next. Even though I only finished half of my burger and some of my fries, we left room for dessert. I chose the warmed apple crisp. A greatly enjoyed indulgence. The perfect portion size and nothing short of amazing...but, maybe I'll add ice cream next time. My friend had the chocolate peanut butter pie. She said it was very good. If eating in, drinks are sold by the bottle and brought to your table. Silverware is provided if your meal requires it (or you can ask for it). I ordered takeout last Saturday for dinner. The food was ready pretty quickly. Food ordered: the huckleberry burger, hot dog, Mac and cheese, huckleberry cheesecake and apple crisp. I enjoyed my burger - there was lots of sauce and goat cheese. The hot dog was nicely dressed. The Mac and cheese tasted homemade - it even had some burnt edges - my favorite! I didn't try the apple crisp, but the other person loved it. I had half of the cheesecake - it was very rich. There was some seating indoors and the ambiance was casual and a little cozy. I think this place is fairly new. We went on a Sunday lunch time. I was hoping for a buffalo chicken salad but they were out of the chicken so i opted for a burger no big deal it's still a new place, I'll skip that fault. The burger was really good. I had a cheese burger with everything on it which included grilled onions, which I liked! They served fresh homemade style popcorn that was also very good! (I'd go back just for more popcorn!) The place itself was a bit run down or just that they didn't put much into the look of the place... (it was some type of restaurant before) which can make a person wonder if they don't do the little details on the front end what are they missing on the back end? I went there last week had a hamburger double patty with cheese with curly fries. It was excellent. I went back today, which is the September 5. I thought I ordered the hamburger but evidently I got one Patti no cheese was all right. I would never get that again, and the fries were saturated and oil the curly fries.
