Oh, Club Pilates. It is the most expensive out of all the places I go, or have tried, but I cannot…read morequit this place. I just love it here way too much. I like to work out alone and not do anything team related, and this spot gives me that. The reformers are so spread out you feel like you're on your own island. The bins to hold your belongings are right next to you so it is really your own space. They keep the lights low, the blue lights glowing, the music is thumping in a quiet way, and the instructors talk in that perfect soft Pilates/yoga voice. I like to get here a few minutes before class so I can stretch a little on my own before we get started. Another comforting part is the work outs are about that same each time. You know you will start with leg presses, but you don't know which version, and when you think you have done every move you can on a reformer then the instructors mix it up. You will never be bored. You will also get lots of stretching between muscle groups. Then at the end of class when you make it to feet in straps you know you are in the home stretch - and you literally get to stretch those worked-out legs. I can think back to that first class I took in Feb 2023 uncertain where I would go with Pilates, and I am so happy I decided to give it a try. My muscles are more toned, my balance is better. I can do the flow 1.5 (from flow 1) with not much difficulty (on most days). I still have a ways to go to be tip top to make it to flow 2. The ultimate goal is getting to that flow 2.5. For now I enjoy the journey and getting my body better. This is one of the few places I know that have a 5:30am class so I can take it and make it to work on time. All the instructors are amazing and helpful. When you come in you check in at the front desk and pick your reformer. Write your name on the card on the mirror and get ready for the work out. Like most Pilates places - use the app to book and don't forget your grip socks!

THINGS I WISH I WOULD HAVE KNOWN BEFORE: They are very…read morewelcoming and invite you free of charge to an "Intro" class. After the class, they mention that they are waiving the application fee. You are excited to try something new!! They set you up in their system as they handle you 2 pages of stuff with a punch card. In conversation and meanwhile another person adjacent to you is signing someone else up, they mention that it is a 3 month commitment. However, they FAIL TO MENTION a long list of stipulations ex. A) 30 day written notice to cancel B) there will be one final monthly membership charge after notice is received. In addition, every class is on an app. 1) there are very few classes offered by "level" 2) Level 1.5 is highly over booked. For the most part, you get on a "Waiting list" and must wait until very close to the time of class to see if you are fortunate enough to get "Booked". Each class is a credit and if it books you regardless of how much time you have to get there, you must attend class or lose the credit. Attached please find the "paperwork" so you can make your own decision before stopping in. At first I was so excited to join and now I must look out for email notifications. For me, working out needs to be fun, easy and carefree. NOW, I have to spend my time checking email notifications. Ugh

I sighed up for the free introductory class and attended one night after work. The process to check in was easy and the young girls working gave me the lowdown on the place and sent me off to workout. I did the classic Pilates class with Diane. She knew I was a newbie so she showed me how to adjust the reformer and tips for the class and she checked on me often to see if I was hanging in. The workout was pretty fast paced and I hung for most of it and took small breaks when needed. I haven't had a good workout like that in a long time. Flash forward to a month later and I am a member. Surprisingly this uptown location is cheaper than my place in Lakewood. You can book all your classes on the app. I haven't tried anything other than the classic, but will definitely branch out. There is free parking in the parking garage to the left of Pilates. Pay attention or you'll miss it. It's confusing too because there is an apartment attached to the garage so you may get stuck on a floor where you'll end up walking up a ramp. That would only happen to me I'm sure though. Otherwise find street parking! When you walk in you will check in to class on the iPad. Then set your belongings in the cubbies. Bring your grip socks and be prepared to crush it (at your own speed) for 50 minutes.

Lots of spaces to park. Gym lighting is a lot darker than the one in downtown, which I actually like dig. Bathroom was clean. Machines were ok. Not as good (new) as downtown location. What really made my workout miserable was how hot and humid it is inside compare to downtown location. My God I was POURING sweat! I had to take deep breathes pretty often to not to pass out. And because it is hot in there, people also didn't smell good in there. I had to skip a machine because a guy right by that machine smelled so bad. The combination of dimly lit environment + high humidity + high temperature + tons of people smelled bad = I almost passed out. Anyway, I'm gonna skip this one and just use the one in downtown. It is way more cooler and drier. And it smells better too. And I'm NOW ok with the $50 extra a month for parking. I'll just pretend it was paid towards the AC. Holy shit I suffered at this gym today.
