Sharon and crew are the best! I've been coming near weekly since 2021 when I was on the mend from a knee injury and their classes have really changed my life. I started out attending private classes with Sharon mid-pandemic and eventually progressed to group classes. Now my weekly favorites are tower class with Sharon and barre class with Andrea. You really get the feeling that teaching is their calling and they love what they do. They have a way of making "hard work" fun and really can read - and if necessary - adjust your posture or poses to maximize the impact on a muscle group. It's almost like Sharon has a sixth sense for those things! Any time I go to a class it boosts my energy and spirits -- and any time I miss a class, I feel like there's been a loss to my general well being. After years of my sisters pushing me to try pilates I finally did. I have been running outdoors for decades and I cannot do squats or lunges and I sometimes collapse on my left knee if I do try that. I decided to take some one on one lessons with Sharon to learn about Pilates; how to keep the back flat, how to breathe, etc. so that I could see if I could benefit. I tried the Jump class on the reformers and I tried the TRX Bodhi class on the tower. At first I could not do some of the movements because of my runner's knee. I did not want to continue but I did for one reason. I found that the class was hitting every muscle in my body, not just one isolated area like when I have been trained at the gym. Over time I did everything and now I realize that I have built up the muscles around my knee and I have no issues at all going into a deep squat or back lunge. I am being supported by the correct form and by my own body and I feel incredibly strong! I am one of the older women in the classes but I feel amazing! A one hour class is worth a week of workouts at the gym. We work very hard and we sweat! What you put into it is what you get out of it. Sharon makes sure to correct me on the tiniest thing that truly makes a difference in the overall workout. I cannot imagine a week now without my tower class. My muscles feel hard and strong and I can do the parts I struggled with easily now! I dreaded the plank series and now I look forward to that part!! I cannot say enough about Sharon and her enthusiasm and care for all of us to really benefit from the workouts. read more

I started at The Pilates Barre over 10 years ago and it remains my favorite place to workout. I started on the reformer as a gymnast in order to strengthen my core to help alleviate back pain; not only was it fun, but challenging as well. Now, as a retired athlete, I've gotten into some of the other classes offered (barre, bodhi, and the pilates tower). The instructors are very knowledgeable and lead dynamic and engaging classes - their playlists are an added bonus too! I highly recommend for a fun workout that produces results. read more

I'm addicted! Sharon and Natasha are amazing! They take time to explain the reason for certain moves and make sure your form is correct to avoid injury. I've always wanted to try pilates and Bodhi and I couldn't be happier. I started with private pilates lessons with Sharon and tried Bodhi with Natasha...both classes really show you no matter what workout you were doing before you will find muscles you didn't know were there! If I could give six stars I would. I started here about 10 months ago, and could not be more pleased with the progress I have made in my physical condition. The trainers here are very attuned to the individuals physical condition, designing exercises that insure you don't get hurt while you are building strength. It would be hard for me to describe how much better I am physically. I can do activities now that I had problems doing before Pilates. The new studios are beautiful, and make it easy to book both classes and private instruction. I started with private instruction as the trainers worked on basic strengthening of my body, and acquainting me with the reformer and the mat techniques. Slowly I have moved to one private and two group classes a week. I love this place, and cannot recommend it enough. read more

The Pilates Barre is one of the best things that happened in my life in the last three years. I started with private reformer sessions and after some months I changed to pilates barre classes. Now that I am moving out of Connecticut I know it will not be easy to find another place like Sharon's. She is a wonderful professional and her place is always impeccable.
