I moved to Connecticut about 6 months ago and after two years of getting my Masters and a whole lot of sitting around, I knew I had to do something! I like nearby The Pilates Centre, read some reviews, and saw that they offered a free intro class. I had never done Pilates before (used to do Yoga quite a bit), but really wanted to try something new. Even though I felt intimidated by what I saw others doing and the machines in the room, I felt welcomed in and supported. After the trial session, I signed up for a 10 pack and haven't looked back. I am nearing session #22 with the owner, Jen, and have already seen changes in my body. I am sold on Pilates and will be remaining a loyal customer of The Pilates Centre. I always feel confident that Jen really knows what she is doing and is supportive of whatever stage I am in with my fitness. She has been incredibly motivational with getting my fitness back on track. I haven't tried any of the classes yet, but once I feel more confident I could see myself mixing class sessions in with the personal sessions. I highly recommend coming in for a trial session - you've got nothing to lose whether you are a beginner or an expert Pilates practitioner!

I am now back in town visiting friends for the holidays and I made it a priority to schedule in time again on the Power Plate with Pilates. I have not found a substitute near my new residence and my body is really missing these workouts. Although I've had pleasant conversations with all the staff, Erik has been my trainer for over a year now. He's not only helped make me noticeably stronger, but also helped me to lose over fifty pounds. He's an excellent trainer and PTP is lucky to have him. PTP isn't cheap; it's not some half-assed gym with pushy rude staff and dirty showers. But it's worth every penny. I recommend PTP to anyone who asks me where I go to workout.

I work from home on Fridays and don't have the most flexible situation which means often times having to take Heathers' class. Exercising is meant to be a release from stress - not additive to stress. As silly as this sounds, I actually got scolded and then lectured for using 5 pound weights instead of 3 as its apparently liability and a rule. I would actually like to see the rule book here bc I have never seen one. I also got scolded for not holding the weights "Heathers' way" - I have been an athlete my whole life including college so I am pretty sure I know how to hold weights. Do yourself a favor and find another studio to do Pilates.
