Shortly after arriving, it became clear that this is not a plus-size friendly studio and I will never be back. During the class, Mindy, the instructor, told me to move to the back of the room, loud enough for the other participants to hear. Another woman approached me after class to let me know how inappropriate she thought it was and to ask if I was OK. Additionally, I modified a pose we were instructed to do because of an ongoing knee injury, and care that I need to take with my neck after a former surgery. The instructor approached me and said in a very nasty tone that I shouldn't "get creative" if I were unable to do them. This was a medical need that I was advised to do by my physicians, not "getting creative". I left prior to the end of the group - I was not providing this joke any more of my time. Mindy approached me again, insisting that she shouldn't "allow" me to leave, although she provided no reason. I am not a novice when it comes to Yoga, and in fact just this previous weekend I went to a Yoga retreat in upstate New York. I intended to use this studio to continue the great feeling I had when I left my retreat. The only thing I had to retreat from is this studio, and this miserable person who isn't qualified to do busy work, let alone energy work. I hope no other person with curves and dignity has to experience the anger that I had. We are not people to be judged, we are working on our health the same as anyone else and the owner should be ashamed to act like this, or if she isn't the owner, employ somebody who does, under a business in their name. What needs to come full circle are their practices. STEER CLEAR. There are much better, kinder options to spend your money and energy with.

In a beginner class of 5 that spent most of the hour doing downward dog and plank, she not once corrected my daughter who was definitely not in the proper position. When I tried to get her attention, she shushed.When she saw me sitting there because the 2 positions do cannot do were the entire class she ignored me, even when after 30 minutes of sitting I raised my hand for help. She was very focused on the video camera for the remote people. Of all the classes I've been to in 20 years and 5 states, this was the worst. It didn't even feel like yoga. Worst part is it was a mother daughter experience and she saw her mom ignored and humiliated. She will never do yoga again

And wow has it helped! As a yogi I've worked, taught and taken yoga classes from so many places in the USA and this one is by far one of the most empowering! It is by far the best bang for your buck in the area! After taking her class 1x week consistently for 3 months I tried out some other studios closer to my home when I had a schedule change and NOTHING compared. Driving an extra 20 mins is well worth the guarantee of a great workout no class of hers is ever the same! She kicks total butt! The studio is kept clean, the lady at the front desk always knows my name even though I don't know hers and is always glad I came! I've never practiced yoga before but my daughters and I have been very happy with the experience so far. Phoenix is very sensitive to physical, and intellectual difficulties and adapts the class to our needs, breaking down the instructions so we can keep up and get the most out of our time with her. Our last session was a restorative practice which left us all feeling relaxed and de-stressed. It's a great, healthy way to spend time with my girls and we're so glad we found this studio! The atmosphere is calming and peaceful and fees very reasonable. As I said I'm no expert but I would definitely recommend Phoenix!

It really is special.  I would consider myself somewhat of a "yogi nomad" never really finding that studio that resonated with me...however I've found my home. Seymour & the Valley is blessed to have this offering to it's community. The teachers are loving, personable, knowledgeable,and compassionate. They provide caring instructions accompanied by healing words to guide you through your practice, meditation, self awareness, and spiritual journey. I've taken classes with Phoenix, Charles & Rebecca and each has uniquely elevated my practice. The studio is warm and very inviting with a max capacity of roughly 12 in studio 1 . I felt very comfortable the moment I walked in the door. (Btw please remove your shoes when you walk in.) I very much enjoyed the creativity and personal touch each teacher brings to the mat and appreciate the fine balance of personal attention the teachers offer up. The decor is very simplistic and the bay windows shine in just enough to cover the floor in natural light. The pricing is more than reasonable compared to other studios in Fairfield County and the caliber of teachers far surpass any instructor I've experienced at the Edge, LA Fitness or Planet Fitness. Additionally, I wanted to mention the music. Two thumbs way up on the music selections the teachers are bringing into the classes....eclectic, soothing and up lifting. If your a guy who has been considering yoga to improve your flexibility, mental health or physical strength and is apprehensive to step into a studio for whatever reason....this is the spot for you. Getting in shape before Pilates was always tiring, painful and monotonous. Pilates with Marta is just the opposite. The studio is such an inviting space. It is filled with light, providing an attractive, peaceful place to workout. It is also utterly immaculate. All the equipment necessary for a full Pure Pilates workout is available. For me it is a perfect environment. The heart of the Pilates studio is the teacher, Marta Ostro. She was taught by Joseph Pilates' protege Romana and her daughter Sari in NYC. Pilates is her calling and she is an extraordinary instructor. Marta's knowledge of Pilates as well as her understanding of the human body and how it works is remarkable. She is a patient and compassionate teacher. She is determined to teach you the skills that are needed for a healthier, stronger life. Marta's love for her vocation makes each lesson a calming and enjoyable experience. She has a wonderful energy and positivity that are infused into all her lessons. I first came to Marta 15 years ago after bilateral hip replacements. I couldn't walk without a limp or discomfort and I had zero energy. I was miserable. After training with Marta for a relatively short time, the limp and discomfort were nonexistent and my energy was back. As I continue my training with Marta I see changes in my whole body. Muscles are more defined, both my upper and lower body are toned, and my energy level is high. Pilates is a complete body workout. Marta continues to fine tune my skills and take me deeper into the techniques of Pilates . When I finish each session with Marta I feel great both mentally and physically. Marta makes exercise fun. Pilates makes my body happy.
