It has been 2 years since I met these folks at a Club event where I enjoyed their entertaining knowledge of spirits and cigars.  Walking in I was simply stunned at the variety of cigars, pipes, loose tobacco and of course the Pints and wines available.  The hospitality I received was wonderful.  While they were out of the sought-after Opus X, I was introduced to a new cigar with similar properties----I am saving that for my graduate degree. So happy I stopped in.  I will attempt to recreate a pipe tobacco mix that I have a small bag left from 30 years.  This is the place to recreate memories.  Thank you for the quality and craftsmanship you have displayed. read more

This is my go to spot for a cigar. They have a really nice lounge where you will meet a lot of nice folks who are interesting if you can spark a conversation. The owners are very friendly, very patient and trust me when I say this very knowledgable. They offer a wide selection of cigars, wines and beers. My choice here is the Padron if I am on a tight budget, if I have some extra dollars to spend I will definitely go for the Julius Caesar. This place is my choice because of the outdoor seating area, nothing beats a warm sunny day and a nice cigar. Whenever you feel like treating yourself to a nice afternoon I would recommend this establishment. read more

As a female who smokes cigars I've gone into several cigar shops and have been ignored and got the feeling as if it was a male only club and I didn't belong. If you need a good cigar and/or a tasty, fancy beer, this is the place to go in Greensboro. While there are places in Greensboro with a larger beer selection, Pipe & Pint focuses on quality rather than quantity. Still a good sized selection and you know it's gong to be good because Larry and Pete are only going to sell what they themselves enjoy. And that is what makes this place so great, Larry and Pete. I tried to find a particular wine in Virginia and North Carolina, no one could help. Then I called Pipe and Pint. The Pipe and Pint does indeed have a huge selection of cigars and fantastic pipes. What pleasantly surprised me, however, was the selection of mead! Considering the size of the shop, the presence of at least ten different varieties of mead astounded me and made me wish for a fatter wallet. It's too bad they close so early. A person who works weekdays is limited very rushed (or Saturday) visits. The four stars could increase to five with time. I simply haven't had a chance to adequately explore the varieties of beer, or the lounge. Pros: -Fantastic Selection -Lounge -Mead! -Very helpful and friendly staff. Cons: -I understand they recently moved to the current location, but it still feels like the shop is overcrowded. I'm terrified of knocking something down whenever I turn around. (Everything is quite neatly displayed, however.) -Location is a little out of my way. read more

I consider myself a decently knowledgeable cigar smoker, and I can say without doubt that Pipe and Pint is by far my favorite place to buy a cigar and have a smoke. I like the place so much, that I'm willing to make the drive from Chapel Hill. In general, there is an excellent variety of cigars (all strengths and price ranges). I think there is an especially nice selection of "boutique" cigars and there are always new products coming out. However, while the walk-in humidor and selection is nice, what really makes the experience are the owners Larry and Pete. Larry is a little more soft spoken, but both are ultra knowledgeable and ultra friendly/ helpful. Whether I'm stopping in for a single cigar, or looking to restock my entire humidor, they always take the time to chat. I already had a good idea of the kind of cigars I liked (full bodied). However, Pete has taught me a fair amount about cigars in general, and has helped me to refine my palate a good bit. I have enjoyed 90% of the smokes that he has recommended to me. One of the most enjoyable afternoons that I'll have is when me and a few friends make the drive to Greensboro to shoot the breeze with Pete or Larry. I truly can't imagine a more hospitable business owner in all of North Carolina. In terms of alcohol, I am not much of a wine drinker. However, it's fair to say that my brother in law is a wine snob. That being said, I have bought a couple different bottles of wine for him on the recommendation of Larry, and he has never been disappointed. In fact, he liked one bottle so much that he was ready to move it into his "top five all time" list. So while I can't comment from direct personal experience, it seems like the wine quality is every bit as good as the cigars. They have a nice selection of micro-brews as well, but again, not my area of expertise. Bottom line- whether you're a hard core cigar smoker or a newbie looking to pick up your first few sticks, you can't go wrong with Pipe and Pint. read more
