Valentino's Pizza truck is not as good as a neighborhood place, but a heck of a lot better than the national chains; even the one who recognized their pizza sucked and started from scratch. It is also amazing that they carry 2 full ovens capable of 700 degree heat on the truck and turned out a decent slice in about 5 minutes. I ordered a slice of the Portobello for $4.75, and while there wasn't enough cheese to suit me (there seldom is), it had a sweet tangy sauce, a perfectly done crust that didn't have that twice baked texture so common when you buy a slice. They serve it in a rectangle which is subdivided into 6 square slices. Only 2 of the 6 slices have crust to grip onto, so eating it is a bit awkward; but it is good. The owner John, also comped me a small sample of his "Chocolate Pizza", which is his crust coated with Nutella instead of tomato sauce. I can see that becoming the signature item; especially if he works the bars at night. It was awesome. I wondered if the trick was owned by the same folks who owned Valentino's Pizza and John told me it wasn't. All told this is a wobbler between 3 and 4 stars; John being a nice guy and the Chocolate Pizza earned them a bump up to 4. Tino's, or Valentino's Pizza on the other hand.. is a whole different beast. In fact, I think they show that you can actually do pizza from a food truck and do it with both authentically good taste as well as adding that food fusion spice that the gourmet food trucks have been doing to everything they touch. I tried a couple of their stuff. The Italian Sausage was pretty good and did hit the spot in the craving for a slice of heaven. The difference between this Pizza food truck and the previous other one I have tried in the past that... well, were pretty much no SLICE of cake is that this one takes the classic pizzas and actually makes them good, but also plays around with them as well. Take for example their Chocolate pizza. They give you a dessert pizza that comes with Nutella. The Hazelnut delicious treat known the world around.. though oddly enough it seems to really be getting more attention in the states just recently. I have to admit, this sucker is good.. very much good. I'm not even much of a chocolate person and this one does hit the spot. The prices on the truck are pretty much average for the mobile food industry and you really can't go wrong with it. Let's just say that your wallet will not hate you like it will on some other food trucks that have been making their rounds. This food truck, it hits your eye with it's nice pizza pie. Robert P and Mary R invited me to one of their epic family fiestas recently and they had it catered by Tacos Antonio, as I hear they always do. I can see why. I had carnitas and intestine tacos. The intestine wasn't as gross as it sounds and had the appearance and texture of calamari rings. With all of the awesome homemade salsa I slathered on they all tasted great. Highly recommended for your next party. I have no idea what the cost is but give em a call and I'm sure it will be reasonable. We were happily greeted by the shop owner, Kate. Kate walked us through the menu, which all looked delicious, suggested some things and before we knew it, we had purchased lunch and dinner for later. Light lunch was great -- I had a chicken breast and husband had blackened salmon and we split a waldorf salad. Chicken and salmon were great (and I don't like salmon) and the salad is my new favorite thing. I'm obsessed! Oh and we also got 2 mac and cheese bites which were also heavenly! For dinner we purchased a pepperoni pizza pack that we cooked on the grill later that night. That turned out really nicely (see the photo I uploaded of before and after). All that and they were super friendly and welcoming to our dog. Can't wait to go back!
