I am giving 2 stars just because I love pizza. However, the pizza was 1 - sorry to say :( The last time I tried Pizza Box was about 4-6mo before they sold. It was really heartbreaking to here the news. But I guess all good things must come to an end. I still regret not stopping by and ordering an Uncle Sam as a final send off. But, after trying it today, I am regretting it even more so. The pizza today is extremely different. The flavor of the ingredients seemed lackluster to me and to my fellow homies. We found ourselves staring at each other with the classic "WTF" look. The pizza was more dough than pizza - if that makes any sense. I understand we could have ordered "thin-cust", but with the OG Pizza Box, that was not necessary. The old Pizza Box knew exactly how my friends and I wanted it. And that mean old lady delivered something fierce - a deliciously amazing pizza! The cheese was meh, the sauce was meh, and the pepperonis seemed to have lost their "pep" so to speak. There were other ingredients but without much taste, so yeah.... Its a shame I will never be able to experience the mean old lady serving me up some of the best damn pizza I have ever had in my life as a native Milpician again. But like I said, all good things must come to an end :( read more

So it's a hefty pizza. Now back to the service here. I've only been here twice, and I've had nothing but pleasant service. And yes, it was an Asian lady helping me out. So I don't what to make of all the crazy comments. I swear just about everyone I know that likes this place always prefaces it with making a comment on the owner first. read more

Ok- the 4 stars is strictly for the size and taste of the pizza. My Daughter and I were at Golfland so we trekked over to the next plaza to get this place off of my bookmarks. The place is small, not recommended to dine in but unfortunately we did because my Daughter was hungry. There are about 4 tables, a jukebox sort of thing, and a 3 old school arcade games... The tables- not clean, no napkin dispenser, no cheese/pepper shaker Cons: - the Asian lady (I want to assume Vietnamese but not sure) is not welcoming nor friendly.. she was the only one there (taking orders, taking phone orders, making the pizzas, and cashiering) so I'm not too confident on the overall cleanliness being enforced here (ServSafe). - the wait is 15 minutes so do call ahead (no matter if it's a slice or 2 or a whole pie.. you've been warned) - the small joint is like an oven so my Daughter and I were roasting as we were waiting and as we were eating our pizzas - $15 minimum for the usage of Visa/MC - when our order was up, she did not ask if we needed napkins or cheese/pepper - the shakers are located behind the jukebox - no napkins whatsoever so I managed to grab just 2 (there was only 2) napkins Pros: - huge ass slices (1 is good, 2 will have you rolling out the place) - the dough was good.. Cant get enough of Pizza Box. The ingredients are always fresh. My favs are double pepperoni, Margarita, and combination. New manager, Marina, is amazing!!! Better than most slices in NY. This place has been around more than 25 years (Uncle Sam Box with drawing is original). My first NY slice ever was this tiny place around the corner of my house over 20 years ago. Giant droopy slices, so hot that it burned the roof of your mouth. But she channeled that anger into the best tasting pizza in the Bay Area. At the time, the Pizza Box was he only place you can get an authentic New York pizza by the slice. It was run by a mean old Asian woman. I would always catch her picking her nose, she would yell at us for teasing her or giving her flack, but we never cared cuz the pizza was amazing. The place is dingy, but now that I live in NY, I can appreciate it's charm. It really looks like a NY slice shop. I still crave the original pizza box even though there are similar options here in NY. So sad that it sold and the asian woman retired. She was what gave the place it's unique charm. From the reviews here we are not sure we will be switching from Little Ceasar's for a cheap pizza. The online price menu looks like the basic cheese 14 inch pizza (formerly a medium) is priced at $20. Under the former owners the price was $11. Now each topping ordered is $1. So a 14" Hawaiian pizza will set us back about $25. That is just about par for any other pizza place in Milpitas. But the 14" Hawaiian at Little Ceasar's is $8. A 14" combo at Pizza Box could be over $26 (depending on what toppings you order) but is only $10 at Little Ceasar's. Maybe the New Pizza Box will blow us away with superior taste that justifies the higher price. We'll give the new Pizza Box a test run in a few weeks after they have had a reasonable chance to sort out the problems but with their prices being double those of Little Ceasars we don't hold out much hope of being won back. read more

I was super excited to try this place out, but it was really nothing special. Pizza was overpriced for its quality and amount of toppings. I'd rather have round table down the street than eat here. It got a two stars just because I've had worst. My wife and I got the "Papa Juan" (chorizo, jalapeño, onion, corn and cilantro). The only thing we can taste was the corn and cilantro. The jalapeño wasn't spicy and chorizo was very limited on our pizza. We also ordered the garlic knots and there was nothing garlic about it. It wasn't even buttered. I feel like I was better off buying the garlic knots from Walmart. The last thing we ordered was a personal pizza for our kids to share a cheese pizza. It wasn't anything special. My daughter wasn't a fan and ended up making her Mac and cheese. My daughter usually eats pizza and has no issues eating Costco pizza or anywhere else. This is a family own pizza place in Milpitas! my family and I always order the large combo pizza with no olives and bell peppers and add garlic instead. It's super yummy and there are a lot of toppings! Sometimes the toppings are too heavy for the pizza but it's always plentiful. What is cool about this place is that pizzas come in so many different sizes:small,medium, large, XL, king Kong, and US which are larger than 24". We had to check out the Pizza Box as we had heard the place had sold. Happy to say the place still has the character and charm of the original neighborhood pizza place. We had stopped going to the original Pizza Box because it seemed a bit dirty and we were not greeted properly. Loved the pizza but vibe was not great. The new staff were friendly and started our order right away. We noticed the prices had increased some but seemed about right compared to other places. Our pick was the new East meats West and All Veggied Out. Both pizza were delicious and worth every penny! The place still makes the best pizza and still has the old school decor I remember from my high school days. We will definitely be back not only for the pizza but place also has the old retro video games as well. A nice place to have lunch or dinner with family and friends. read more

Really love this place for good quality simple pizza. Reminds me of a dollar slice in NY and I love their customer service. Absolutely fantastic at accommodating my special requests. Also, they have a rewards program which is awesome. Their weekly deals are great for families, and their wings are the best. They aren't bbq and they aren't Buffalo but a nice spicy saucy in between. I've been eating here for nearly 15 years since I moved to Milpitas. When I moved to LA I didn't find pizza that was as good as the pizza here. Since I moved back to Milpitas I've been hitting this place up alot. The store recently got purchased and changed ownership. While the pizza is actually still pretty good my one complaint is it comes out sometimes not piping hot. I can't say for sure what they do now, but the lady that used to own it would have frozen slices premade and cook/reheat in the oven, but it would still always be killer good. I think the new owners may need to cook/reheat the pizza in the oven longer because the inside of the pizza (and the center part of the crust) is often not hot when I pick it up. My solution has been to buy my slice as a take home slice and then stick it in the toaster oven at 325 for about 8 minutes. Then it cooks through and is piping hot. read more

The crust has great flavor, the sauce is always perfect-I'm a stickler for the sauce. Gotta be right, or it ain't gonna happen. Love the pepperoni. I don't like it so thick it curls, or too spicy my face is on fire. Its perfect with the yummy cheese!! The sausage is crumbly perfection-those little balls of sage-y love are heavenly. The shrooms...FRESH! And they cover everything-YES!!!!! how it should be! Ambiance isn't a deal-I'm there to pick up a pizza. The tables aren't there for you to have a five-star restaurant experience, they are there so ya don't have to stand while your waiting. The asian lady that catches so much flack from the 1-star raters... ? She calls my Hubs "honey" when he calls in an order....so maybe its YOU and your piss-poor attitude. This place has good pizza but the restaurant itself is a few years behind in maintenance, it seems. This isn't far from Golfland and it's just off I-680, to the east, just before the stop light. There are a mishmash of businesses in the strip mall. When I entered, I couldn't decide whether it was better or worse than the location with the same name in San Jose. There are plenty of video games, but none seemed to be operational. There was also a jukebox, which was not operational. The staff can barely see you from the kitchen, and only if you're at the left hand side of the counter, near the cash register. There is no alarm on the door to let them know people are entering or leaving. I wondered if I might have to call them to get their attention. They had the same $4.75 combo slice that the SJ location has. The drink selection was just as unusual--RC Cola? I ended up with A&W Root beer, which is good, but really wanted Mountain Dew because I don't drink cola any longer. The person who took my order told me that my slice was ready and I walked to the other side of the counter to get it. I had to ask for napkins. The pizza was very good, something I don't expect from a slice. Usually, they tend to be old and dry and this one was fresh with good flavor and the ingredients made it even better. It's always nice to find a place where everything is good, but I'll take good food and a worn dining room over bad or mediocre food and a stylish, up-to-date dining room. read more

This is the place to go if you just want to buy one pizza for a large sum of people. The Uncle Sam is 26 inches in diameter! That's the largest pizza size I've ever seen. Taste wise, it's pretty good, but I still prefer Costco pizza. With Costco's pizza, I can't resist their crust, but here, it's kinda meh. The actual pizza part is pretty good tho. There's a huge variety of meats to choose from, probably like 10 different kinds. I don't think I've seen any other pizza place that offers chorizo as a topping so that's pretty neat about this place. Ordered an Uncle Sam (26" pizza) of Half Combo and Hawaiian. The pizzaeria is located off by 680 Jacklin exit in Milpitas. (Next to Golfl-and for those who are local.) The pizzaeria is near the corner of the shopping plaza, some what seclusive. The first thing you notice about the pizzaeria is that it's a bit outdated, but has that old school charm of juke box , candy machine and arcade machine. Remind you of the good old days. Place an order over the phone ahead of time if you are ordering a big pizza is a must, it takes 30 mins to bake an Uncle Sam. The lady who worked there aren't very "jolly" as many have stated, but she knows her stuff around the order of pizza in and out. She seems to eager to return to work rather than chit chatting with customer. The pizza is delicious. It isn't greasy. The pizza is cut into sizable square sizes to serve for party. The pizzaeria did not skim on the ingrediants like some of the big pizza chains. The combo consist of olive, onion, sausage, pepperoni, green pepper diced up, cheese and tomato sauce. The Hawaiian is ham, pineapple, and cheese...the usual. The total was $43 for a gigantic pizza, size-able amount of food, good for any events. Portion of the food for Uncle Sam is enough for 10+ adult. *Ample parking **Impressive portion and ingrediants ***Quick services **** Delicious pizza of half Combo and half Hawaiian ***** Flexibility of mix and match in according to your order. At 24 inches, this pizza fed a group of 4. The pizza itself was loaded with toppings, and often times the sausages/mushrooms would droop off the pizza! As far as the taste goes, it was slightly better than a Costco pizza. In other words, it was adequate. The real thrill of coming here, though, was coming face to face with the Asian pizza lady. After reading reviews of the 'Pizza Nazi,' I was expecting far worse. I probably wouldn't wanna sit down over a cup of tea and have a gUrL tAlK with her, but at the same time I wouldn't mind ordering pizza from her again.
