Tired and needed some dinner and the person at our hotel referred us to the pizza place as recently being remodeled with good food. Upon arriving at a late hour they seemed to still be experiencing a dinner rush (a good sign), but we got waited on at the desk fairly soon. The pizza came quickly, and was loaded with toppings and flavor. Yum!!! The gal serving wine and beer was pleasant and efficient. Overall a very pleasant experience. A hidden gem! Stopped on our way from Mount Rushmore to Denver. It's deceiving from the outside but the inside is clean, uncluttered, and huge! Breadsticks with garlic butter dipping sauce were wonderful. Pepperoni pizza was delicious! Food was served hot! Grab menus from cashier area and seat yourself. We stopped here after leaving Denver 3hrs ago enroute to Rapids City SD. Not many places to stop in the Wyoming portion of the trip but this eatery is a real find. We had a great lumch, split a veggie and cheese sub and a salad. We missed out on the pizza but let me assure you that it's undoubtedly fantastic. Stopped in after seeing this highly rated place was on my route on July 16, 2013. I was in just before 4 pm on a Tuesday so there were only a few customers. Got a very good side salad with Dorothy Lynch salad dressing (new to me) that was very tasty and included a bread stick. I got a pizza with pepperoni and onion pizza. While not the best I have had on the East Coast it was definitely the best I have had in the West. I asked the manager her secret. She says they use fresh ingredients and good water, and have learned to deal with the higher alitidude. Sauce was tasty and the crust was done almost to perfection. If your travels take you through Lusk then The Pizza Place is definitely worth a stop. read more

The whole experience was the most awkward pizza I have ever had. First these people need to have you sit down and take your order, or your staff does not get good tips. Literally watched several people sit down and wait and no one comes to help them. They expect you to stand in the entrance and look over a menu then order at the front and give a name. Had to go back and get my drinks as they did not even look interested in bringing them to us. Then they walk all over the restaurant with your food and no real direction of who it goes to. These owners need to go to a real restaurant and eat, come back and revamp their investment. The restaurant is nice inside and the staff look like they could do good work with some leadership. The oven is nice and the pizza crust (pan) was good. The sauce has no flavor but cheese is not bad. Man would I love to help this place be a star out in nowhere Wyoming. Again not saying the staff did anything wrong just seems like it has never been given a good direction to go. read more

I definitely don't agree with the reviewer than said their pizza was just okay. This place is just genuinely good and it would be so in any city. They have a lot of different interesting pizza choices (I got the Southwestern/Mexican one a few times), and their sides are all above-average as well. The service was always great and the atmosphere has a good rural feel to it. Tables, floors, and walls seem very solid. If I recall correctly, the price wasn't bad at all. Probably even considerably below what you'd expect elsewhere. Basically, there are like three restaurants in Lusk. I don't remember their names, but the one at the south end of the single mile-long main road was not that good. The one in the middle by the hotel was okay. This one, at the north end of the road, is worth the five stars many people are giving it. read more

We had driven all afternoon from Denver, on our way to the Black Hills, it was raining and cold and the Silver Dollar was decidedly not family friendly (we wanted a steak, not pizza) so we stopped in. How high are your expectations driving through the middle of Wyoming? I mean, really? Five stars because your expectations are low, and The Pizza Place supersedes them. We had a hot sub sandwich and a lightly garlic-sauce-glazed calzone. Both were constructed with homemade crust and dough which is flakey and soft and perfect. Bonus love for serving microbrews on tap, a wood-fire smell coming from the kitchen, and the massive atlases, Harley-Davidson books, and National Geographics ready to read as you're standing at the counter. If you're driving through Lusk (en route to Mount Rushmore, no doubt), really, you should stop. read more

My wife and I were driving through Wyoming on our road trip and this was the ONLY populated street we drove through so we stopped for dinner. We walked in and grabbed a menu and ordered the medium size meat lovers pizza and some breadsticks. We took a seat and waited. The pizza took a little while, and it would have been nice to get the breadsticks first, but it was worth it! The pizza was delicious and the breadsticks were also very good. The size of the medium was about what you'd get at most chain stores large! And the prices were very good! It was a nice surprise to find such a good pizza place in the middle of nowhere, haha. read more

On the final leg of our 18 day vacation and we found this listed on Yelp. We decided to stop and I'm so glad! The interior is gorgeous exposed brick and ductwork, with light finished wood tables and booths. It is counter service, but they have salads, calzones, sandwiches and amazing pizza. The dough is made from scratch which makes the crust delicious! Your choice of hand-tossed or Sicilian deep dish. We ordered their Meateaters Pie and it was so yummy! Loaded with pepperoni, sausage, ham, bacon, and beef. While there wasn't a consistent distribution of each type of topping, the pie had a crisped crust, just the right amount of sauce and a load of Muenster and mozzarella cheeses. The night we were there, there was a large birthday party group. They were unorganized and held up the line but the staff was AWESOME and turned out pies in less than 15 minutes. So my husband and I are driving through Wyoming, starving to death since there is nothing for miles!! Suddenly, we happen about the "city" (Isn't there a population minimum to count as city or something?) of Lusk and the single most populated street we've seen in several hours. HALLELUJAH!!! Upon seeing The Pizza Place, we immediately parked and headed in. Let me tell, this pizza place smelled like holy heaven after hours of hunger. We ordered a medium-size meat lovers pizza and a side of breadsticks- I had to convince my husband that we did not need a large- even starving, I know when my eyes are being bigger than my stomach :P but I did compromise on some breadsticks. The breadsticks were warm and fluffy, though I would have liked it if they were more garlic-y (but that's just my preference). The pizza was surprisingly great! These guys have a pretty good crust recipe. The pizza had the right amount of sauce to cheese to toppings ratios too. Mind you, this pizza wasn't the best I've ever had or really that spectacular. But it was still good, and I did enjoy it :) Overall, if you are in Wyoming and hungry, I highly recommend stopping here- you probably will not find better food, or any food for that matter, if you don't stop here :P read more

My sister and I stopped off here on a cross-country drive last summer. Let me just say that we are native New Yorkers and, therefore, real pizza afficionados. And this place is great! We were shocked to find such good pizza in Wyoming, of all places. The crust is homemade and perfect. And you can even get Sicilian pizza, which is hard to find even on the East Coast.
