While these servers are some of the hardest workers and the concept is good, it just doesn't work! Great playlist, ok decor, but let them sing... Dancing around, lip syncing and cutting the songs off half way through, just doesn't cut it. Let them sing or at least let them Karaoke !!! Salad dressing was very good, Chicken Parm was mediocre and the Beef Tortellini, which is Cheese Tortellini with ground beef on top, why? What a nice Surprise to dine at The Playlist on the 4th of July! The servers are singers and performers and it was really fun to watch them sing and lip sync to my favorite 80s tunes and to see that my teenagers could sing along! What a surprising find! Been to Chattanooga several times over the last two years and randomly decided to try it as we've seen it on this unassuming corner. My husband and I went to Playlist for a great night out on the town. We did not get that. The evening started, we were seated and someone dropped off the salad at our table. They did introduce themselves or ask what we like to drink or if we needed waters. We finished our salad. The bartender dropped off the garlic knots. We seat for 10-15 minutes and had the wave someone down to get drinks and order. I ordered the chicken marsala and husband ordered the gnocchi. The pasta was over sauced and very heavy on the garlic. The gnocchi was better than the chicken marsala. Did not even comp our drinks for the bad serve. I would have had a better experience if I would have ordered take out from Biba's and watched videos on Amazon music. It would have been less expensive too. I was expecting the lip sinking because the advertising on the building says the server's sing. This is the new chucky cheese. But chucky cheese is a better value. We will not be going back because it is too expensive for what it is. Not a good value. read more

We were on our way to the Tennessee Aquarium when someone handed us a coupon for The Playlist. After finishing up at the Aquarium, we figured, "what the heck" and ended up stumbling into one of the most unexpectedly fun and memorable dining experiences I've ever had. At The Playlist, guests pick the songs, and the servers put on full-blown lip sync performances with an energy level that was seriously unmatched. And beyond their incredible performances, the service was incredible. Our server was attentive, friendly, and genuinely seemed to love what they were doing. I ordered the fettuccine Alfredo, which turned out to be the crowd favorite at our table. I also appreciated that soft drinks were included with the ticket--nice touch. Even the manager was out helping clear tables and serve food, which says a lot about the team. Yes, the whole thing is a bit silly--but in the absolute best way. It was way overpriced. The food options were limited and not that great. The garlic knots were hot and crispy but the rest of the food seemed like an afterthought. I ordered the chicken parm and the breading was not crispy like I would expect good Italian food to be. I'm not one to typically write reviews but, I straight up couldn't walk away from this place without saying something. We came in from out of town and decided to book a table for dinner. I should've known something heinous was about to be revealed when we walked in and there were plastic roses strung up around the sign, but we already paid for the table so why not? The second warning sign should've been seeing that it was dead as a graveyard on a Saturday night, but that's my bad for going in with high hopes. You're sat at a booth, somewhere within a bizarre layout that could be pulled right from a sadist's idea of a funhouse. The stage was snatched from your old middle school theater play, and with the feeling of getting slapped over the head with a lead pipe, you realize your servers--kind, welcoming, enthusiastic--are the ones performing on set. All this could be fine if it weren't for the lip syncing. The performance is just lip syncing. God bless the servers for putting their all into it, but sweet Jesus, what a night. Topped off with food that tastes and feels delicately microwaved, and drinks that wouldn't give a toddler a buzz, my friend aptly put that it was "someone's version of Hell". The garlic bread was delightful though! I appreciated the hard work and dedication of the servers. They were the highlight of the experience in their attentive attitudes and warm personalities. I wish them nothing but the best of luck and an escape to an environment that can treat them with dignity and respect--there are incredible burlesque dinner and show experiences that this place has the potential to be. The staff members were absolutely incredible. One minute, they're taking your order, but then they'd jump on stage for a performance. Then, they're stopping back to drop off refills. They were incredibly attentive & great entertainers. Our evening was fun. Our group featured a few that got up on stage & fun was had by all. Before you continue reading, I want to be very clear that we had a lot of fun. That being said, we also went with very low expectations because it is a new and different idea. So, if you keep reading, the next few points that I need to make are not "great", but I hope that the ownership team will read them because I would really like to see this place thrive: The food...well, it was "meh"....at best. I cannot imagine anybody going there exclusively for the food. It wasn't bad food, but it just didn't have much to offer. I "get it" that there needs to be food to justify the costs to run this place; however, the food did not deliver any value. Personally, I think that this a fun, "concept restaurant" that has a lot of opportunity; however, a lot of additional work and imagination still needs to occur if they want to create a stream of REPEAT visitors. I feel like, in the present form, this is a "one and done" place because the food was pretty lacking. Another reason that I'm a little concerned about the longevity of The Playlist is that I think that the song selection needs to be A LOT larger. We each scrolled thru the song options to try to find something that we wanted to perform, but it's a pretty short list. I would have to imagine that the music industry charges for every song that you want to offer as options...and those fees can probably become cost prohibitive depending on the song's popularity. However, there definitely needs to be more songs because the current "playlist" was too limited. Again, I believe that this place has A LOT of potential. It is better than a karaoke place because you don't have to have a great voice. You can get on stage and perform even if you can't carry a tune. However, it also might add additional value if a few of the performers were singing instead of only lip synching. Finally - I think that a great way for The Playlist to generate revenue would be to host kids' parties during the day. We had two kids with us that were under 10 years age and their eyes were absolutely GLUED to the stage. They were extremely engaged and very entertained. Also - what about catering to semi-private parties? I'm thinking that a girls' night out at The Playlist would be pretty epic...or a bachelorette party? I mean, I know a lot of folks who LOVE to get on stage - so I cannot think of a better venue than this place! So - my keys to ongoing success are: * different menu * more song selections (can you list them on the website?) * hire a few singers to mix it up * kids' parties * bachelorette & girls' night out parties I wish this establishment nothing but success! read more
