Kevin and Reed are honest, their prices are fair, and they always take the time to explain what's going on without making me feel like I'm asking dumb questions. Reed was just here, and after explaining everything to my husband, he took the time to explain it all again to me. He absolutely didn't have to do that, but that's the kind of service you can expect from them. If something is outside their wheelhouse or a project is bigger than what they do, they'll tell you and recommend someone they trust instead of trying to sell you on something you don't need. Their scheduler is awesome too. She's so easy to reach by phone or text and always makes scheduling easy. And Kevin always has a funny story, so somehow we end up laughing during a plumbing appointment. They've helped us with all kinds of things since we bought our house, and they're honestly the only company I don't dread calling. Since the labor was at a very reasonable 1 hour set price he had some time to check out my toilet, which was leaky. Charged me great prices for replacement of two small parts in there. Had a fantastic experience with Kevin today! My tub faucet had terrible water pressure after the city turned off the water last week to fix a main line and then turned it back on. I changed the cartridge myself but there was no difference. I called them in the morning and he was able to come by this afternoon! He took a thorough look at everything and was able to pull out the check valve assembly/base of the cartridge, which was very stuck in there. When I took out the old cartridge I tried to see if I could take the base out, but it wouldn't budge so I didn't want to risk anything. Glad that we gave him a call so he could get it out! Turns out that where all the sediment/rocks were hiding! He took it apart and took his time to make sure he got all the rocks out before putting it back in, and the water pressure went back to normal. He confirmed everything was working well and put it all back together. He was in and out within an hour so it was a flat $150, which was much more reasonable than other places we had called earlier. I had the misfortune of needing a toilet repaired fairly quickly and not knowing any local plumbers, I called a local company that I know I can trust for a referral. Ed Niziolek at GMS Heating and Cooling in Morton Grove referred me to The Plumber Smith in Glenview. I called them and Tim in their office hooked me up immediately. The next day the tech, the Brother of the owner, was out and found the problem; the floor flange had broken. Since my house is older and a DIY guy had done major "improvements" previously, the broken flange turned out to be an odd size and was at an odd depth in the floor. Bottom line, he needed to find the right part and he said he would need to come back. He set up an appointment for first thing the next morning to make the repair. He came again, as promised and on time, and was done in an hour. Since I had no idea how long this type or repair would take or how much it might cost, I asked his thoughts. I gave a number and "Will it be about this?" He laughed and said not even close. It turned out to be about 40% of my guess. He could've charged me anything up to and including my guess, but he didn't. He was super quick, wry professional, very fair, very neat and knew exactly what he was doing. He was in and out in an hour and the total cost far less than I could've imagined. As a result, I highly recommend The Plumber Smith. Competent, capable, honest and affordable. We had a leak occur on our irrigation pump that we couldn't find a way to fix. We initially called another plumber who scheduled an appointment 3 hours out only to tell us once arriving that they do not service irrigation pumps since they are not connected to drinking water or sewage (untrue, as they are connected for our home). We reached out to a number of plumbers before Kevin answered and was able to come by in less than 30 minutes. He was extremely helpful, fixed our issue, and stopped the leak in our basement in less than an hour. His price was very reasonable and he was courteous. At midnight, I noticed my sump pump had failed. One call and what seemed like maybe 20 minutes later, Kevin Smith was at my house and saved the day (or more appropriately, the night). This was our first experience with The Plumbing Smith, and we will definitely be using them again for our plumbing needs. We were awakened by our ejector pump alarm at 4am on a Sunday morning. We waited until 7:30am to call and Kevin immediately picked up. He was able to diagnose the issue over the phone, and he said he could come by at noon to replace the ejector pump (our house is 20 years old now). He texted at 11am, and said his schedule freed up and he could come by earlier. From our first meeting, I can tell Kevin is a really good guy and is very willing to help his customer base even at odd hours. charged $150 for an evaluation. a week later plumber arrived used a rod to try and fix the drain. after he put in a wax ring. place the toilet. then the toilet just flooded the floor. he looked at it and said He would not be able to fix it. I asked why did he charge $150 for an evaluation and now saying he can't fix it, on top of the $460 charge of supposedly fixing it? my experience with them has been horrible. no solution has been resolved through them. just a run a round. be careful where you spend your hard working money. they have not done honest work. they will give you all smiles. remember at the end they will try to juice you as much as they can with out being completely honest. read more

This was my first time using Plumbing Smith. Reid, Kevin's brother, came out after I called just a few hours before. He tried to repair some very old bathroom fixtures and thoroughly explained what was necessary. One fixture wasn't worth the repair, although he tried, and he had to get a part for the other one, but overall the price was fair and Reid seemed very competent. As he left, I asked him to take a look at a toilet that I was told to replace by another plumber and Kohler as well. He fixed it in 30 minutes! My new favorite plumber! Awesomeis an understatement! Reid came out and did what another company didn't do. I had a really tough clog that a other company (inexperienced person) couldn't handle, telling me that the pipes under the tub needed to be redone.
