Bon tons. A little bit spicy...delish!
    Troy S.

Decent beer tap selection. The Sunday brunch is pretty good. Want an amazing appetizer? The Bon tons! Chicken in a won ton. A little spicy too. During happy hour apps are half price! The Italian nachos are unique and delicious. Great thin crust pizza.

This is a strange pizza joint, as one side is a bar and one side is a family-style dining room, with kids arcade games. Gangsta rap was blaring on the speakers for my 1 and 4 year old the entire time for lunch on a Saturday... See my pics for reference: The menu has pizza (crust was burnt, and the chicken didn't taste fresh), but also a lot of other things (salads, sandwiches, kids menu, burgers, dessert). The kids mac n cheese was a weird combo between fake and real cheese, yet tasted oddly delicious. The food was okay, and would probably go back, due to the proximity to the children's museum. A bit pricey, but things like "free drink and ice cream with kids meals " sort of makes up for it. It just needs to decide if it is a family joint or a bar, so the other group isn't offended/put-out.

    German deep dish!! Super good!
    Nick B.

Great Pizza! We ordered the German pizza with deep dish crust. It was amazing with mozzarella, sausage and sour krout. Sounds gross but it was awesome. It was our first time there so the nice waiter told us about the pizza that a lot of people ordered! We used the buy $20 and get $25 deal so we saved which was nice and went during happy hour for $2 spotted cows on tap!

I love this place. I'm only giving a 4 out of 5 because the service is spotty. I've had wonderful servers, but there's a server who usually works the bar and I'm just amazed that she still has a job. She's come to our table for drink orders and then never come back and we had to find another server. We've called in carry-out pizza orders and she's taken the order, gone in to get it and realized when we got home that we were missing toppings (we usually get 4-5 and were missing 2). Every time we have her, there is some kind of problem. Other waitstaff is pretty good, generally my only complaint is they're pretty lax about refilling drinks and bringing the check. We love the food though. It can be a little busy with kids in there, but we love the Sunday Buffet. There's a large variety, people with food restrictions can find things they can eat. The French toast is great. And even though I don't eat omelets when I'm there, the guy making French toast and omelets (he's like... always there) always manages to say hi and make small talk.

Been waiting an hour for them to restock....

The food used to be so good. What happened to this place? It is so filthy and the food is inedible.

A little less than average. The pizza was greasy and bland. The staff was helpful. Overall, meh.

Fun little bar and with decent food. I frequent when in town as a more economical choice to the hotel for drinks.

Kinda dirty. Burgers were ok.. but not worth $10+. Cheese curds are either cool and solid in the middle or over done and empty.

Doesn't get anymore 80s pizza joint than this place! Food is okay. A solid 3.5-4 stars.

Good selection of craft beers and I liked the taco pizza. It was open mic night and I had a good time.

TLDR: creative cocktail and good menu with a Wisconsin twist…read more I brought my group of 8 family and friends here and everyone loved what they ordered! The menu features a lot of local Wisconsin produce and Wisconsin favorites with a twist, like Baked Cheese Curds (the tomato jam is SO GOOD) and Portobello Poppers with a wild rice and cheddar filling (it was so tasty I couldn't believe it was vegetarian!). Everyone really liked the Chicken Fried Rabbit (obviously, not our veg friend lol). The buttermilk-brined rabbit leg was so juicy and tender. The red cabbage slaw on the side was a perfect pairing. The Candied Pork Belly just melted in my mouth, no joke! And I love that it was seasoned with hoisin sauce and came with some baba ghanoush, which you'd think wouldn't go together--but it so does. For my main, I had the Grilled Ribeye and my bf had the Roasted Lamb. Both were cooked to perfection (medium rare) and both were phenomenal! The chimichurri on the side had some sweet kick to it but the steak didn't even need it bc it was plenty flavorful and tasty. The lamb was so tender and the mint gelee was *chef's kiss*. The Great Lakes Walleye was served on a nice tomato confit brodo and my bf's parents absolutely loved how imaginative it was. We all thought it'd just come out with a side of potatoes or something but the presentation blew us away AND they said it was very lovely. The kids loved their How 'Bout Them Apples pizza, which wouldn't have been my first choice (apples on pizza?!) but it did look tasty! For drinks, I ordered the Seamus (which is basically an old fashioned with Irish whiskey) and my partner ordered the Watermelon Mojito. I couldn't believe he liked the Seamus bc he usually hates old fashioneds but tbf it was a very well balanced cocktail! His Watermelon Mojito was refreshing and yummy (but a little too sweet for me). My bf and our friend both loved it tho! We'll definitely be back again the next time we pass thru Eau Claire!!

Huge thanks to the staff at The Informalist for accommodating a large group with short notice a few…read moreweeks back during our visit to Eau Claire. I think we had approximately 20 people and a couple joined last minute. I know this is not ideal for servers, but it worked out well and again, we so appreciate it! The Informalist was super convenient since many of us were staying at the Lismore Hotel. Since this restaurant is located in the lobby, it was just super easy and the menu has something for everyone. We ordered from both the pizza and regular dinner menu and many of us shared a bit of everything! The truffle fries may have been the biggest hit of all, so don't miss out on those! Pizza is fabulous too. We saw elote fries, a burger, caesar salad, steak and so many other things at our table. My favorite pizza was the Yellow Jacket, which includes red sauce, mozzarella, cheddar cheese, pepperoni, and spicy honey. My least favorite item was the salmon crudo, but the salmon entree was not bad. Ambiance is hip and trendy and feels a bit fancy, but we were all dressed casually. Interesting due to the name of the restaurant, but it works! If back in the area, I'd absolutely return. Enjoy!
