He was professional, fun, engaging, and truly saved the evening for us. We couldn't have asked for more from him. There were a few hiccups around the last-minute change and some initial miscommunication, but Fleur ultimately worked with us to resolve everything fairly and provided an appropriate refund for the part of the experience that couldn't be delivered as originally booked. In the end, everything was resolved on a positive note. Most importantly, Glen made the night an absolute success. We had so much fun and would highly recommend him!

Dropped by for a sip and sew class on a Sunday evening. This place was relatively easy to find…read more Located on the 9th floor. The class was 2 hours long and overall a very fun learning experience to make a tote bag. Not easy imo, but you are taught in a way with demonstrations first prior to attempting to do it on your own, a few steps at a time. I thought the hardest parts were the beginning prior to actually sewing - putting the thread in the machine and setting it up. But I'm sure with experience it becomes second nature. You're given the basics of the machine from the buttons to the different parts and the pedal. Then comes the fun part of actually putting together the tote bag. From sewing the sides to sewing the handles, the instructors were very knowledgeable and helpful! Very delighted to have taken this class, and looking forward to taking more in the future. As someone forever petite (unfortunately), I spend so much time getting clothing altered. Would love to learn more about altering my own clothes.

I took the Sewing bootcamp 101 class with Emily as the lead instructor. It ran from 10AM-6PM with a…read more1 hour lunch break at 12:30, I spent $310. We received a run down on how the machine works, learned how to thread the machine and how to fill the bobbins. Then we made a denim tote bag. This was super easy and really fast. After lunch break is the 2nd project. If you don't have your fabric, the school can sell you fabric directly inside for $16 a yard. I bought my fabric elsewhere and brought it in. I honestly recommend doing this instead of buying it from them. Because you have to wash your fabric like how you wash your laundry regularly since it shrinks naturally. We picked our patterns and I made a skirt since a skirt is faster than pants. They recommended not to make pockets or else I'll run out of time. But I HAD to add pockets. Women's clothing have little or no pockets regularly. The instructors are extremely helpful and friendly. and they immediately notice if someone is struggling or stuck. This really impressed me. For example, when I was threading the bobbin, the spool of thread was running out. The teacher was immediately behind me with a brand new spool of the same color so I can swap it out when it was finished. That was a great eye for detail! Overall, highly recommend. Just bring in your own 3 yards of cotton fabric, already washed and dried, for the 2nd project!

I can't speak to how they are…read morecurrently but I attended from 2015-2019 and made many friends here, and it was a great environment to create, whether I was learning wood sculpture or refining my vision as a painter. Most of the instructors were wonderful, offering guidance when I asked and space when I needed it. It is very reasonably priced and remains a true NYC institution. The only instructor I would caution against is Pat Lipsky. I found her conceited and negative, even spiteful at times. If your aesthetics do not align with Immanuel Kant or Clement Greenberg, you may not feel welcome in her class. After she asked me to help set up her studio for a visiting curator, I left the class. From that point on, she refused to acknowledge me when we crossed paths. Still, the overall experience was deeply meaningful. I am grateful for the time I spent here and the ways it shaped my work and friendships.

Kate Neuman was an angel, and someone who really got into the details of each scene. She used props and scene settings very astutely, making sure that all of our scenes were in context, rather than just dictated to the audience in a forced manner. My only caveat has to do with the introduction and physical coordination exercises in the beginning. They were so attention-grabbing and helpful that I wished that the rest of the class had more of the physical education commitment (rather than just scene study).

Unfortunately the class with the wheel was sold out but we did the clay hand building and it was awesome. You basically get two hours to design your own mug from scratch. The instructor was so nice and sweet and was around to help/answer any questions during this time. Working with the clay wasn't as difficult or messy as I thought it would be and I think we actually got the hang of it pretty fast. At the end of the class you can choose to buy the mug you made for $15 or not. If you choose the former, they will contact you in a month to go pick it up given that they have to dry, fire, and glaze the piece. I think the class its BYOB because one of the couples had a bottle of wine, wish we had known! Overall, I loved it. It makes for a great date and even a fun group outing. I just walked in yesterday and got tons of info :D Updates: So.... after the consultation, I came back to NY Art studio and enrolled Portfolio Prep. course targeting Parson/ Pratt/ FIT for 2016 Spring Semester. It's been 3days so far and I already feel very comfortable with studio and instructors.
