Fruit tart - delicious!
Pamela J.

Like it very much! Exactly what this space needed. The old place that was here did not suit the style or needs of the town - well maybe if you were living in a very small non-descript town in the 1920's or something. Anyway, they did a great job at the Re imagination of this space. Loved my fruit tart, though idk why they had to wrap it in tinfoil. Let's add some environmental consciousness to the new cool vibe please. Different vibe than Marty's down the road, so you'd choose either / or depending on what you're looking for. The PO definitely reminds me of my prep school days and dating a Gunnery boy back when it was a boys school. Except then we had only crusty 1920's diners to eat at. These kids are so lucky to have something as cool as the PO!

The PO is a must stop to complete any Gilmore Girls CT tour! This is the real-life Luke's with cozy, vintage vibes instead and lots of delicious food choices. I enjoyed the French toast latte and ham, egg & cheese croissant at one of their outdoor tables with a lovely view of the town green. They had a wide variety of breakfast and lunch options to choose from. An adorable spot for a meal or pick me up treat when visiting Washington!

I can't say anything but positives about The Po! The most welcoming, warm, and cozy place to visit for food and coffee. Maggie, the owner and her team are all SO friendly and remember customers by name. They have created a comfortable and relaxing space for everyone to enjoy. From popular healthy options (Poke Bowls, Green Toast, Acais) to the indulgent (Flat Rate Burger, The Ricky Bobby and Chicken Winner), they offer it all. GF/Vegan options available and coffee options that rotate seasonally. They incorporate local and seasonal products. Some of the coffee menu options include: the Lavender latte, Maple latte, French toast latte (LOVE) and their classic drip coffee. Plus they have matchas and chai available too. Being in the heart of Washington, I love how The Po has local products / goods to purchase. For anyone who is a serious Gilmore Girly, this spot is a top adventure for bachelorettes or a fun fall trip. This is the ultimate Lukes Diner! Plus if you're near, you can walk around the green or take your coffees and walk to the farmers market minutes down the street on a Saturday. *PS. Their Pop-tarts are also incredible! Look forward to stopping back in soon!

One lunch at The PO Cafe, and I'm in love! From the moment I arrived, the place was peaceful, quaint, and charming. Their menu had some really great options, and I thought it was adorable how several menu items nodded to the "Po" namesake, whether it was the "po"ke bowls or "po" pork sandwich. Everything was super yummy, but the Chicken Winner sandwich definitely stood out! The strawberry matcha latte, berry smoothie, and chai we had were all great. Don't even get me started on the cookies - unreal!! Especially the "po" chip, which was a perfect mix of salty and sweet with potato chips mixed in. I'm not often in Washington, but I think The Po Cafe has inspired me to come visit more!

Went to boarding school here so this place is close to my heart. It's changed a lot but still delicious. Got a curry chicken salad on a salad and it was perfect. Really good chocolate and potato chip cookie too! I can't wait to go back for another day trip

My family did a daycation by driving to Washington,CT. While there we had breakfast at the PO Cafe since my wife and daughter are Gilmore Girls fans. Everyone loved their breakfast. I had the egg, cheese and ham sandwich with an ice coffee. It was delicious. We sat by the window and enjoyed the view.

Iced latte with cold foam

I've been here a few times for drinks and pastries to takeaway. The inside looks like a pleasant spot, and it's a lovely vibe, people sitting outside the front enjoying a coffee and catching up with friends. I enjoyed the cruffin and the iced latte with cold foam on top - I didn't enjoy the decaf version so much, which is mainly what I drink, so wouldn't recommend for picky decaf drinkers (I haven't tried other crafted coffee beverages there to be able to comment on technique, just simple iced latte). I didn't enjoy the cinnamon bun, which I found a little dry. I was excited to try the pop tart, but sadly found it underwhelming and kind of soggy. The customer service was a little lacking and impersonal, and especially for a local business I'd love to see this improved. For better service, I'd stop in more for the experience and a drink. Though I had more misses than hits, I'm leaving four stars, thinking maybe it's just about timing and finding the things on the menu I enjoy. If I fancy a cruffin and an iced latte treat, I may stop in again.

The green hill

A super cute cafe! I got the green hill sandwich which was super refreshing! The bread was fresh and the lettuce was crispy. My friend got the pulled pork sandwich which was a bit heavy. Latte was okay. Wish they had a sandwich and soup combo. The regular size soup is 7 dollars which would be too much to have on top of a sandwich. Otherwise this place really meet the cafe standard.

That is not dark meat. Still tasted delicious.

First time at The Po Cafe today and have mixed feelings about it. The staff are terrible. Not friendly or engaging at all. I arrived finding a young gentleman standing outside blocking the door, assuming he was there to control the number of people inside. He never once acknowledged me or spoke to me, but continued to stand in front of the door. I stood in the freezing cold looking over the menu that was posted out front, waiting to be let in to order. A few other people came up the steps after me and walked right past him inside. I then asked if I could go in and he said yes. Like really, you made me stand there for nothing?! There were people standing all around so it was unclear where the line was and where I was supposed to go to order. Finally figuring it out, I walked up behind another couple (6ft apart of course) and waited my turn. Making it to the counter, I stood there for several minutes with more than 5 staff members there behind the counter and not one of them even looked at me or said a word. Finally, after taking a phone order instead of taking my order, I was then asked what I wanted. Ordered the Chicken Winner, a S'mores Latte and grabbing a ginger cookie. Waited a reasonable amount of time and they called my name. The latte cup was sticky with coffee dripped all down the side and the top and was given no napkins. Took my order to the car and ate there since it was warm. The sandwich was delicious, though did not appear to be dark meat as advertised. The latte was Luke warm at best but had good flavor. Are the cookie when I got home and it was one of the best I've ever had! Giving 3 stars based on overall experience, but feel the food could be a 5, just wish the coffee was hot and that they actually seemed to care about the customer. I will give them another try to see if the customer service improves.

So excited this opened up within 2 minutes of our house. Visited them a few times in their old location near the lake but now it's within walking distance. Having celiac disease is easy as there are so many Gluten Free options to choose from and the food is amazing! Best tip is to go Tuesday or Thursday to avoid the lunch rush from the kids from The Gunnary. I hear they are forced to eat at their cafeteria on these days and therefore will not create a long wait.

Joann the owner took care of everything from the extraordinary food and staff, to recommendations for tent rental, plates, cutlery, flowers etc. Everything was top notch. The chef Bolivar was exceptional and the catering staff top tier and fun to talk to. Each guest was blown away by the ambience, food, cocktails, all of it. I couldn't recommend CT more highly. I would trust Joann to pull off any event, even with short notice. We had a dream wedding thanks to Community Table.

Our party of four spent over $800 celebrating my mother's birthday. A few hours after the meal, my brother became seriously ill, and because I had also sampled his chicken dish and later experienced nausea myself, we were concerned the illness may have been related to the meal. When we contacted the restaurant to share our concerns, the conversations with management were disappointing. Joanne spoke separately with several members of our family and asked whether my brother had gone to the hospital, undergone testing, or had proof of illness. When I asked whether the restaurant maintained food safety documentation, I felt the question was viewed as accusatory rather than as part of a reasonable concern following our visit. Overall, the interaction lacked the empathy and reassurance we had hoped for. No refund, credit, or acknowledgment was offered. As longtime customers who have celebrated birthdays, anniversaries, and milestones here over the years, the response was surprising. Beyond the health concern, the overall dining experience felt noticeably less positive than in past visits. The bread exterior was very hard, and we noticed other nearby tables eating only the soft interior. The vegetables served with the scallops were tough, the pasta was dry, and most of the dishes (except for the pea soup) lacked flavor. The deserts were lackluster, though the goat cheese cheesecake was delicious. The cheese board appetizer was presented without explanation of the cheeses or accompaniments. Crumbs were not cleared between courses. While our server was friendly, we were repeatedly asked whether we had finished dessert, which made the evening feel somewhat rushed during a birthday celebration. The server also spent time discussing personal matters during service, which distracted from the dining experience. We had to find someone to get our coats otherwise we would've walked out without them. The ambiance at Community Table remains beautiful, which makes the experience especially unfortunate after so many positive visits over the years. Unfortunately, after this experience, our family will likely celebrate future special occasions at other restaurants in Litchfield County that we feel provide a stronger overall dining experience.

We came here because it was highly recommended and the ambience was great. In our first visit, our food took forever to arrive and service was very slow. I ordered the Reuben and when I went to pick it up, there was a large hole in the other side of the bread and the whole thing just fell apart. . The pastrami was very dry and just not very good. Aside from that my wife's meal was very good and we had a beverage and enjoyed the ambiance. This time we went and felt that we had lucked out because there was no one in the place. Our first mistake was, we sat at a high top in the bar, but it was too close to the door, so it was very cold. Every time the door opened the cold air with flow in. I put that on us for choosing a poor seat. The waitress promptly came over and took our drink order and said she would be right back to take our food order as we were very hungry. We waited and waited and it took a while for her to arrive. It looked like she forgot about us and quickly stopped by the table after walking past And asked if we were ready and took our order without writing it down. About 10 minutes later someone else came over and said I'm trying to confirm your order because it was not written down and make sure that we had ordered was ordered properly. The place had hardly anyone in it and not all the tables were taken so we expected our food to be received rather quickly however, after about a half an hour, we started seeing the tables that came in after us were receiving their orders and we still had not arrived. We both had ordered burgers which didn't seem that complicated. After about 15 more minutes, and since we'd been there, almost an hour we still had not received our food. My wife finally went up to the bar and mentioned something to someone there and she said she would go check on the kitchen. She went into the kitchen and immediately came out with our food. Strange? So we basically waited almost an hour for our food and it appeared to have been ready in the back and just sitting there. When we first tasted our food, it was not warm at all. The fries were cold and soggy, and my both of our burgers were warm not hot. This convinced me our order was there and never picked up. At first we thought about sending it back but then after waiting almost an hour, we decided just to eat it and leave. I feel bad having to leave a bad review but it is what it is and that's what happened. I would understand if the restaurant was overly crowded but like I said there was many open tables so I'm not understanding what was the issue. They were running food out, but these runners seemed a bit confused. After two tries, I'm not sure we'll try it again because we like the other place in town up the street just as much. We traveled almost an hour just to go here. There are places that are closer also much better and actually in town.

I…read morewas skeptical at first as the White Horse positions itself as an "English pub," but in reviewing the menu - it's all over the place. Impressions waking in were terrific. Great feel, good energy, beautiful dining room and bar with a perfect fireplace. The walls are adorned with history and there is even a book to guide you around the space if you choose to learn about what makes this place unique. We ordered some appetizers to share: spinach and artichoke dip and the goat cheese and arugula pizza. The apps tasted good (although the blended/pureed consistency of the spinach dip was like none I've ever experienced before) but they were small for the price. As a public service announcement, the items we ordered are literally an individual serving. I cannot speak for other apps on the menu. Entrees were much better than the starters. I ordered the chicken tikka masala (Punjab/spicy style) and it was very good. Savory, perfectly balanced, delicious. Enough food, for sure. Not a belly-busting portion - but I appreciated how the spice was balanced with banana, cashews, and a mango chutney. Very good. One friend ordered the chicken pot pie (which our server showed excitement about) - it was beautifully composed with a flaky crust and a cute horse crouton - but the taste was a safe "meh." Under seasoned, under chickened, just ok. Our other friend ordered the mushroom and walnut pappardelle in a cream sauce. It was delicious. Different. Savory. Maybe the best entree on our table. Service was OK. Attentive. But almost over-bearing. We were having a fun time and sharing holiday gifts, etc. clearly not ready to order - so we had to ask our server for some more time 3x. I suppose it's waaaaay better than getting lost in the crowd. Just no social awareness. All in all, I'm glad we went. We had a great time. Location for us was terrific. Feel and atmosphere was really good. I'll definitely be back and am anxious to try more of a pub-forward menu (burger, wings, etc.) One pet peeve: for a place that's an "authentic" pub, their "Shepherd's Pie" is made with ground beef. Any authentic pub-goer knows shepherd's pie is always made with lamb. Cottage pie is beef. With the variety and breath of their menu, and the dishes we had, "authentic" is a relative term.
