Sweet service with easy calm atmosphere. Small tables. If you're cold natured find a heat vent and don't sit near the door. Beautiful mural wall and walkable for the neighborhood. Food is delicious..

We went Wednesday June 25 at noon for lunch. They have a very limited lunch menu. Four sandwiches. We both ordered the smoked Turkey on baguette. They were out of turkey. We both had chicken. One prepared with the ingredients of the smoked turkey sandwich and one prepared as the grilled Romesco chicken sandwich. Both were tasty. The bread was delicious and the fries were nice and crispy. We also ordered 2 waters. Our bill was $45. It was pricey for the amount we received. There wasn't much on the bread. Next time we go back, I will get coffee or tea (great selection) and a muffin. They looked great.

Was in town for the Decade Days during the first weekend of April and came to this coffee shop for a coffee quick breakfast prior to the various events of the day. Though the Lox bagel was quite tasty, their latte was even better!! It had the perfect mix of sweet lavender with the rich taste of espresso. It was a perfect meal to get ready for the busy day! Will definitely be back next time I'm in town to try more of their delicious coffees!!'

Such a cute little cafe with a cozy vibe. We were in search of a breakfast spot and were recommended to River & Rail Cafe, and it did not disappoint. Me: Za'atar Spiced Avocado Toast + Chai Latte J: Farmer's Breakfast B: Farmer's Breakfast + Coffee L: Za'atar Spiced Avocado Toast with egg scrambled S: Za'atar Spiced Avocado Toast The avocado toast was solid and delicious. It came with herb-roasted potatoes, and it was made to perfection. Service was decent. We placed our order via the cashier once entering, and they brought the food and drinks out to our table one by one. However, I wished they would have asked what drink size I wanted because they gave me a 16oz instead of a 12oz. Overall, we had a good experience here. Definitely recommend.

No breakfast round-up is complete without a mention of River & Rail. Considering how smallish R&R is, our breakfast was mighty. And after a zero dark thirty day of flea marketing nearby, we were so famished, we needed to get a few a.m. bites before heading up home. River & R. includes hearty breakfast and lunch dishes at reasonable prices. Don't be put off by the on-trend feel of this place because it's actually comfy. There are Vegan items, Vegetarian ones and meaty dishes also. Place your order up front, pay and meal is brought to you. My 'Moroccan Egg' dish with like a zaatar sprinkle was very tasty. And despite my fried egg being on the flat side, the substantially runny yolk was everything for dunking. Hubs enjoyed his BEC on a croissant along with his decaf espresso. And my 'Mexican Hot Chocolate' was nothing but Swiss Miss. Service was nice from the gals though. My drink aside, R&R was a nice stop for good bites.

amazing customer service, the staff was helpful and super sweet. we both tried seasonal lattes and were happy with them!! the cafe itself is pretty small and searing is close together, but i'd recommend taking a walk around the town square or sitting by the windows!

Open most days until 3 PM (closed on Monday), River & Rail is a small cafe that serves breakfast, lunch, and pastries alongside specialty coffees and teas. It is a nice alternative to the nearby Starbucks, as a visit invites opportunity to stroll along historic Bank Street and support the small neighborhood businesses that populate it. An added plus is a view of tree-blanketed Fort Hill. Once inside, a wall lined with Greener Grass scenic paper designed by Nathalie Lete brings to mind the flora of New England gardens, while floor to ceiling windows allow streams of sunlight to warm and illuminate the cafe's interior. Cafe table seating is available both inside and outside. Service is friendly, although if you arrive thirty minutes before closing (2:30) I experienced and observed customers being discouraged from choosing food items from the kitchen. (Ended up with a lavender latte and pecan bar as my Sunday lunch -- there was an excuse!) Environmentally considerate packaging is used.

I wish the iced coffee came in a larger size the 16oz seemed so small. My coffee was an iced mocha I liked it was not overly sweet. The breakfast was so good. I am not sure what the seasoning was on my potatoes but it was sooo yummy. The potatoes were crispy, not greasy and flavorful. The scrambled eggs were cooked perfect and nice and fluffy. Normally Im not a huge fan of seeded bread but this bread I really liked. A nicely decorated cute spot!

Small but cozy coffee shop/cafe with great food & coffee! I stumbled in here with my mom when we were on our way to Elephant's Trunk, and we both agreed that we found a gem. I got the egg hash breakfast sandwich and their special honey lavender latte and both were fantastic. They also have a few pastries, but my mom and I tried a few different ones and both agreed that they were just average A few tables inside + 2 outside on the sidewalk Very friendly staff! 8.5

Overall an average and acceptable meal. The bacon was crispy as ordered and the potatoes tasty, but my Mexican hot chocolate was just okay, not fabulous, and at Marty's in Washington Depot, my hot chocolate was significantly better. The service was friendly and ambiance quant, but overall I would not return because for me the food and drink was not memorable, plus my friend did not like her latte.

The best part of my visit!

What a fun coffee shop! I stopped in the area to get a photo at the gazebo made famous in the Gilmore Girls! I found this gem to grab a coffee. I got an iced mocha and it was yummy. My boyfriend got a chai latte and it lasted 5 minutes, so he liked it. The shop has a modern, earthy feel. Really clean and super pleasant vibe. My favorite part was meeting the two, cool girls working there. They gave us some tips for fun shops to visit in the area! Thank you ladies for adding a sparkle to the day!

Wonderful pastry selection - sweet & savory.

Welcome to the neighborhood! Stunning new space with perfect pastries and baked goods, luscious lattes and the most wonderfully decorated space. Bank Street is morphing yet again into an awesome little destination spot. A hidden gem.

I'm usually disappointed by more matcha or coffee shops than usual however State Thomas has proved me wrong. First off this place is so simple, chic and aesthetic. I love the long tables that allow for bigger groups and just a collaborative family like setting. On both sides of the windows, there's also seating available too which is appreciated. The cute notepad wall filled with positive affirmations and sayings are such a sweet touch especially during the holiday season. The fact that you are able to choose your sweetness is one of the most simplest yet thoughtful things shops that sell matcha can do. It''s really customer centric which I appreciate. I ordered the matcha thomas with oat milk and 100% sweetness. The drink had the perfect color, has notes of coconut and vanilla and although it was 100% sweetness it was still subtle. There has to be some type of coconut cream or milk given the flavor and texture and its sooo yummy and refreshing. If you are in the Beacon area and like matcha, please don't hesistate to try this place out!

Thankfully it was today and I loved it! The ambiance is beautiful. Neat. I got to meet the owner's granddaughter Gigi. She was the sweetest. She runs the place. We arrived at the place around 3 pm, and all the baked goods were sold out. We were lucky to try the almond croissant and the chocolate orange biscotti. Both were yummy. We tried their hazelnut coffee and macadamia nut coffee - both were great. I can't wait to come back to try more baked goodies.

The two times I went, there were a few patrons with toddlers playing with games/toys making the vibe less conducive for quietly reading or working, FYI. The baristas served not only great tasting coffee, but it looked amazing too! I ordered a drip coffee with oat milk and in my second visit, the cortado. The pastries were fresh looking but most had hazelnut or Nutella in them on the first visit (I'm allergic). They had a new selection of pastries on my second trip but sadly I didn't have any. Nice space that's modern and a great addition to the PK area.
