I've reviewed this place before but it's just so amazing, I had to leave another. I always joke with my family that the "wheel of fortune" waffle will be my last meal. It's just that good! Extremely friendly staff, sold a cute little stuffed lion for my kid. The environment is super homey and has funny cute decorations all over. Lion them is cute and festive but not over the top. We came here on a Friday afternoon for lunch. The restaurant has a very warm comfortable vibe. The staff is friendly. The menu is super interesting. The food is solid. We were party of four. We started with the eggplant fries, which we all enjoyed. One of us got the pastrami on a knish with cheese. We also got the watermelon salad special. There was an order of the raspberry bread French toast, and I got the shrimp sandwich. The knish could've been crispier. It was a bit soggy. The sandwich also could've been crispier. Impressed! Service, quaintness, and food all delivered! 4 moms took 7 teens to breakfast. They provided us (without asking) a private room upstairs. This was perfect for our group so the girls could all walk around and take their pictures. We had so many people checking on us. Food was prompt but never rushed! We were able to linger on the room as well. Coffee and water were already on the tables when we arrived which was a pleasant way to begin. Try the fresh squeezed orange juice- it is so good! We came to the area for something else and decided to have breakfast here after reading reviews. When we arrived the place was packed. However, it is very disorganized. The hostess is not visible to whom walks in, they are dressed the same as customers, they aren't behind a booth or anything just out in front of a dessert display window... very hard to tell who the hostess were and customers were. After observing for awhile we finally figured out what was going on and we put our name in. The wait time was quick for the busyness of the restaurant. Our waiter was very helpful. The food came out super quick. For my allergenic friends, there is no GF/DF/EF/PF options. I had to make my own plate of just home fries and sausage but if your celiac do not risk it, I'm paying the price. Another thing, this is a pretty big place, there's tables to the left, a small book to the right, seating outside, and seating upstairs and I only seen one bathroom. (Not sure if there was another one upstairs but main level only one. The decor reminds me of a diner, bench seats... Food: I had sausage and home fries. Sausage was good, but my home fries came out some cold, some warm. My fruit bowl was delicious ! Hot fresh coffee all day long, hearty breakfast's, salads huge enough to share and delicious homemade desserts, something for everyone including a very affordable kids menu! Service is a tad spotty when they are jammed packed, overall friendly and accommodating. Good amount of parking and the little shops in the plaza are neat to check out. What a lovely dining experience I had here! When you're traveling, it can be difficult to find anything close to a home cooked meal, but Leo's delivered!! I stopped in for breakfast two days in a row, and each time was delicious, wholesome, and just flat-out wonderful. Leo's has been a favorite of ours for many years. They are very consistent and when you go here you k ow you are going to leave satisfied. They have the typical breakfast offerings, but always have something "Special" to offer! They offer twists on old time favorites such as a "Jack Benny" or Green Mountains. These are their take on eggs Benedict, that are eggcellent! All breakfast comes with fresh fruit or it can substituted with home fries. I came here for breakfast on a Monday morning with my husband. Upon entry, we were greeted by a friendly staff member and seated right away. We both started off with a hot cup of coffee - I opted for the pistachio, which was simply delicious. After browsing the menu, I decided to order the Eiffel Tower (apple cinnamon raisin bread French toast with bananas and whipped cream) with a side of home fries. I really enjoyed my French toast - the bread was so good and the portion was just right. Came to eat the chicken salad sandwich. They didn't have it because it was Sunday. So if you are not serving certain foods on certain days then you should mention that in the menu. They also didn't served mozzarella sticks as aperizers. The place is very hectic. The tables are super close to each other. It's when your driving and it's a bumber to bumper ride. I just tried the chicken Gustavo. I was able to switch up the mixed vegetables and potatoes for pasta. I asked for extra pasta sauce to be added to it. The staff was very polite with adjusting my request. I was not able to pay for it ahead of time but when I picked it up it was quick. Leo's isn't stingy with the sampling of food they give. It was a decent meal at an okay price. The taste was good and the amount I received was surprising in a positive way. I would recommend enjoying a meal at Leo's. While the Sweet Dreams (like a peach melba, but make it French toast) was super-tempting, I went for a Jack Benny, which made me happy. My grandmother would have served this with a defiant expression about the ham, if she'd been better at making potato pancakes. This is not one of your delicate benedicts, softly humming along to Vivaldi's Four Seasons. This is a brash, in-your-face benedict, and it's awesome. I enjoyed every bite and appreciate that it comes with fruit to moderate its excess. These were terrific potato pancakes, too. Now, looking at the online menu, I'm eyeing those knishes (Grandma made one, once) speculatively. There are some efforts with pastrami that I may also need in my life in the future. (Am now looking for places to go that require passing through Southbury...) Staff is great, ambience is roughly diner-casual. It's in a little New England village-style strip mall, so to park, you do down the side street into the parking and kind of sneak up on it. What a nice surprise this restaurant was. Staff is great. Food delicious. We 're from out of town and went to Southbury to explore. Last week my friend and I were at Leo's twice. I worked in Southbury years ago, and Leo's "Chicken Boca Sandwich" was my go to!! We were recently in Southbury and decided to stop by for the nostalgia. The sandwich was delicious as ever, but the center of my chicken was not fully cooked (hence the 3 stars). So I ate around the center, and made the most of it. The food was on the low end of satisfactory. But the kicker was the service. When my 2 friends and I went there for breakfast at 11am, on a Sunday, One of them, Sarah, asked for a hazelnut coffee sample which came about a third of a small cup. My friend tried it and then gave me some. We both liked it and asked for 2 cups, one for each for us. The other lady had asked for tea. When the waitress came back, she brought a cup of tea and a cup of coffee for my friend Sarah for which the waitress had to reach over me to put in front of Sarah. When I asked for my cup of coffee, the waitress said that mine was the sample that was previously brought. I said that I wanted a full cup and she left somewhat irritated. My 2 friends looked at me in disbelief. Then when the waitress came back with a full cup of coffee, I thanked her, and I asked for an apology for suggesting that I should take the sample cup. And she replied negatively and why would she. My friend Sarah has cancer so I did not want to upset her by having an argument with the waitress.
