Here in St. Charles having lunch at Pomodoro. This a nice little casual restaurant. It's very small on the inside with about 4 tables. Many people popped in to pick up take out orders. No problems with the service at all during our visit. I had eggplant parmesan with penne pasta. It came out hot and fresh. The pasta and sauce were somewhat bland. The eggplant and cheese were flavorful with enough salt to accommodate the pasta n sauce. The portion size was on the large size and had me full. The bread brought to the table was tasty. My wife loved the croutons on here Caesar salad. They were light and buttery. I tasted the gnocchi casa mia and not much flavor there. The food here was solid. Nothing spectacular. I would try a few other entrees here since the prices are decent. read more

This hole in the wall is phenomenal, some of the best italian food I've ever had. Two of us ordered small pies and one had the gnocchi, and we tried the fried zucchini and cheesy garlic bread to start. The place is run by a family, seemed like a father and sons joint. One of the sons was our server and he was so polite, really a pleasure to be there with. He handled a rather busy dinner hour quite well by himself and our food came out relatively quickly despite the number of diners. read more

My family and I stopped into Pomodoro E Mozzarella for the first time yesterday after doing extensive research for an authentic Italian spot near to Oswego/Yorkville area since these areas are lacking in that department. It's located inside of a strip mall (do not let this deceive you) and is very tiny but decorated so elegantly. There's about 5 tables inside and another 5 or so on their outside patio area. We came in for an early dinner knowing about the space and wanting to make sure we got a spot to eat inside due to the heat wave and to account for the time it took to get there (if we brought it home it wouldn't have been as fresh due to where we live). We were immediately greeted by Francesco, one of the owners sons and he was absolutely delightful. He told us a little about the restaurant-- his family opened it in 2012, they're from Sicily and almost everything there is made from scratch including the bread. We also got to talk to his father (the cook) and he was wonderful too. Their family is simply wonderful. Here's what we got to eat to share: Drinks: Aperol Spritz - this is the first place I have been to that actually makes this drink the correct way. You can actually taste the aperol and it isn't overpowered by the bubbly. By far my favorite Aperol Spritz I've had while eating out. Appetizers: Caponata - this came with home made bread that was so good, this was probably our favorite appetizer. The eggplant and carrots in this dish really made it for me and it paired so well with the fresh bread Tronchetti Di Panelli - the fried garbanzo paste fritters were unlike anything I've ever had before. These are a Sicilian speciality, almost in the form of flattened mozzarella sticks? They were light and airy but also full of flavor. I'd definitely order this again. Sicilian Orange Salad - I am not a fruit/sweet salad person by any means and tend to avoid them all together, but I'm so glad I tried this. The dressing was incredible, more on the savory side and only sweet aspect to the salad was the oranges that were so sweet and juicy. It rounded out the salad so well, I'd order this again as well. Mains: Eggplant Parmigiana - I am a fiend for eggplant parmigiana and this one takes the cake for the best one I've ever had. It has that authentic home made taste (because it is) that brings any Italian immediate comfort. The eggplant was soft while still having a nice crispy outer. The sauce was perfect and the penne was the perfect touch. Cheese Ravioli - holy cow are these things huge and authentic. You can actually taste the creaminess and distinct flavor of the ricotta. I loved these! This also came with homemade garlic bread which was phenomenal as well. Fresca Pizza - this was their white pizza with prosciutto and arugula. The crust was spectacular as was the rest of the pizza. I'd order this again as well. Dessert Affogato - I almost wept in the restaurant over how good this was. They serve theirs with a hazelnut gelato (they sometimes do pistachio too) and my god was it delicious. Again, the best affogato I've had in a restaurant setting. Cannoli - this was probably the biggest cannoli I've ever seen/had. Extremely tasty and authentic. I will be screaming from the rooftops about this place for the next couple of months. Pomodoro E Mozzarella is run by the kindest family and supporting their business is so easy to do. This is hands down the most authentic Italian spot I have been to. Pretty good! Tried this place since it's close to work. Tried the anchovy pizza - very tasty! Very fresh, great flavor. Good amount of saltiness from the anchovies with the fresh gooey cheese. Very good. Also tried the arancini - got two for the order. Huge! Sat outside on a nice day. Service was kind and prompt. Good variety on menu. Very reasonable pricing. Clean good ambience. Came here with a friend on a pretty busy night. We did have to wait 20 minutes to be seated, but we didn't wait any longer than that. The food was really delicious. The only thing I would say I had a complaint about was that the waiter kept forgetting our water, but was bringing stuff to other tables. Food was 10 out of 10 and will definitely be back. read more

This place knocked it out of the park on all fronts for us: Food, Service and ambiance. Our first visit here. This is the home cooking that I grew up with. I recommend all of the items we ordered: Fried Zucchini - perfectly crisp and a large number of pieces for a table to share. Garlic bread with cheese - I liked the soft crust on the bread. Garden salad as my entree - fresh, cold lettuce, tomato, a couple of briny black olives. Their thick creamy garlic dressing is fabulous. Eggplant Parmesan with rigatoni - thinly sliced and breaded eggplant. The sauce with it was good. Large serving size so we had leftovers to bring home. What impressed me was that all of the hot items were brought to our table steaming hot. The food did not sit under a heat lamp. I'm going to make this my birthday dinner next month. read more

We were in the area doing a delivery, and decided to try this place out! When you approach the small storefront restaurant you see the outdoor patio area which is bigger than the inside dining area. We came at the right time (6pm) Our waiter was very kind and professional. The restaurant is very clean, there are 5 tables for inside dining and around 6 tables for outside dining. There is a lot of beverage options. We purchased a 750 ml bottle of Natural Smeraldina Artesian water for $5 We ordered the Arancini for our appetizer. They were nice and crispy. Make sure you ask for Parmesan cheese cause it adds the perfect amount of salt to the food! So yummy! We would definitely order them again but next time I think we will try the Calamari because that also looks amazing! Robert ordered the Chicken Parmigiana and loved it! I had to sample a small piece and it was great! I ordered the Tortellini Alla Panna and it was very fresh and delicious! If you like Alfredo sauce you will like this sauce... I added a lot of parmesan cheese to it! So yummy! The basket of garlic bread (4 large pieces) was delicious as well. Extra crispy and flavorful. I've been going here since they opened and have been a huge supporter however the last 3-4 times I've been here, I'm not happy with the service, especially with woman (I don't want to put her name out there but she knows who I'm referring to). She's rude and unprofessional. Gives you dirty looks and doesn't even say hi. Francesco is great and works hard. Good kid. The owner/cook always looks miserable. We dined in on a Friday evening. Granted, it was busy. However, we waited well over 50 minutes for sandwiches! After waiting over 35 minutes, my husband, who has a medical condition, got frustrated and upset. The staff really didn't care. They said, "Oh. He is hungry! Five more minutes" for another 15 minutes! No complimentary salad or appetizer to tide him over. No dessert for our ridiculous extended wait. Just a surprise $5 charge for a bottle of water when we simply asked for ice water to drink with our meal. No one ever said it was $5! It was simply on the check! When we questioned why we were not told ahead of time, they smiled, shrugged their shoulders, and walked away! Seriously?!?! Hurray! P and M just got ranked in the top 100 pizzas in the Midwest! That is a big deal as there is a LOT of pizza out there and most is bad. I have given up eating pizza anywhere else, why bother? Went back after approximately 2 years and we were pleasantly surprised and impressed. The inside had been beautifully remodeled as well as the outside patio. They also had gotten their liquor license and now served both wine and beer. The pricing for both was reasonable. My wife ordered her favorite margarita pizza, which was delicious. I ordered an eggplant parmesan sandwich which was just as delicious. The portions were so large that I took almost half of it home for a late nite snack. This is a fantastic family owned Italian joint which we were looking forward to trying out and finally had a chance a couple weeks back. They have multiple styles of pizza but in my standard first visit taste test I stuck with my usual sausage and pepperoni. It was really delicious, but definitely is authentic. Meaning that it doesn't have alot of bells and whistles and is just straight up good. My partner had the Tortellini Alla Panna and just raved about it! The bread was clearly homemade and so good. We were greeted and served by the owner who was very pleasant and great to talk to. The interior is very welcoming, and while there are tables - unless you get one of the 3 tables on the edge of the room, you're going to have walk in customers close to you as you eat. Would probably stick to take out going forward. I wish I'd gotten to try dessert but I was full from all the good food. Next time! read more

Tiny garbage take out joint. New York style pizza is a joke, it's lower quality than frozen pizza, the Home Run Inn one is Michelin level next to this. We also ordered a deep dish pizza that had no cheese, I guess it was our fault we didn't scrutinize the description on their website with a magnifying glass to see that the Sicilian one didn't have cheese, wtf would u even offer a pizza with no cheese, we ended up with a giant hunk of bread with tomato sauce that we'll throw to the geese tomorrow We joked that this name of this place is literally tomatos and mozzarella, yet there was no cheese to be seen on either of our "pizzas" Whatever, if you want to believe the fake reviews go ahead and waste your money on this this joint that is obviously a ~front~ and they have zero pride in what they serve. After living in the area for years, we were happy to discover Pomodoro E Mozzarella in St Charles -- it's a real gem! We had the Calamari Modo Mio appetizer as well as the New York Style pizza and both were delicious. The indoor dining area is small but cozy, very reminiscent of European style cafes, complete with photographs of Italy adorning the walls. There's also outdoor seating as well. Located along fast-moving Illinois Rte 64, it might be easy to miss this restaurant, but it's definitely worth seeking out. (There are entrances to the parking lot from the back, from 17th St or Randall Rd.) We will be back for both take-out and dine-in in the future! read more

Fantastic pizza here. We ordered a cruda pizza for pickup and it was super fresh and delicious by the time we got it home. The crust was crispy and yet chewy inside. The ingredients were high quality. We couldn't stop eating it. It is the best pizza we have had in the area, and we have struggled to find a good one in the 5 years we have lived out this way, having moved out to the Fox Valley from Chicago. It's also possibly one of the best in Chicagoland, in my opinion up there with Spacca Napoli and Forno Rosso. Highly recommend the pizza here. We wanted to try some place new to night while in St.Charles and came across Pomodoro E Mozzarella. The dining room is cozy, very clean, and bright. The owner was working the counter/ waiting tables along with his son. They were very friendly and accommodating. Now to the food. We ordered two 16" pizzas, a New York style Pepperoni and mushroom and a Quattro Gusti. Each pizza was topped quality ingredients. The crusts were so perfectly crispy with that crunch in every bite. Had the calamari which was slightly undercooked and somewhat flavorless. The sauce was poorly seasoned. The main course was Eggplant Parmesan with pasta. Eggplant was mushy and not very appetizing. The pasta sauce had no spices of any kind By far the worse pasta sauce I've ever had. Off the shelf pasta sauce in the grocery store would have been better. In short not worth it. read more
