Everything came out quickly and looked appetizing. Jillian was very attentive and checked on us frequently even as the restaurant began to pick up as the dinner rush came in. It is a small space, so you will be close to other tables. I could hear other conversations and had to speak up to hear those I dined with. My first time being in Geneva I stopped by Gia Mia for a late Saturday lunch. The restaurant was not crowded at all and I was seated immediately. The inside seemed bright with a relaxed vibe. I ordered the wild mushroom sacchetti which was ready in a snap. The dish was very flavorful and creamy with a fair amount of mushrooms and a generous amount of pasta. I did feel the pasta was a little on the firm side, but other than that, I was happy with everything else. There are 4 mini desserts on the menu where you can choose 1 or all 4 for $3.50/$13. I tried the mini ricotta cheesecake which I found to be ok. My preference is New York style cheesecake all day. My waiter was very helpful with the menu and where to venture out in Geneva. The weekend manager at this site is rude. We had made a reservation hours before for 4+baby carrier with additional notes asking for a booth. Because they did not properly manage their reservations, they did not have the room for us and flat out turned us away. This is a quaint, and lively restaurant with a neighborhood flair. The tables are kinda close together but not enough to cause any dining inconveniences. Luckily, we got there early enough (3:45) to avoid the Sunday dinner crowd. By the time we ordered our drinks and appetizers there were people waiting in line outside the restaurant to be seated. The family came this day to celebrate Mother's Day. Once our party of 6 was seated our server Joelle came to greet us and take our orders. Joelle was delightful. Her welcoming personality and genuine enthusiasm for serving us let us know we were in good hands. Joelle gave us great descriptions of the dishes we were looking to order. She was spot on making our decisions easy. We ordered the prosciutto fig bruschetta, white bean soup, ricotta and honeycomb, prosciutto and arugula pizza, paccheri vodka pasta, pasta gia, Scottish salmon, Tuscan Shrimp Polenta and the special, blackened halibut with sweet corn risotto. All the dishes presented well and were very tasty. There were only 3 complaints from our group about the food. The halibut though very tasty, the fish was overcooked and dry in texture. The pasta in both pasta dishes was cooked al dente. IMO triple Al dente. To the point the giant rigatoni in the paccheri pasta felt like eating wax. Very dense and not enjoyable to eat. (Same with the garganelli pasta in the Pasta Gia) Had to send it back. Once the dish was refired it came back not much better. So I sent the dish back and had them prepare it with linguine instead of the giant rigatoni. It was delicious! Joelle our server and the manager were very understanding and did everything to make sure our dining experience was memorable. They wound up comping my meal for the inconvenience. I asked Joelle why? She said we had to fire your dish 3 times to get it right. That's great service. Would return to this restaurant just because of that! All in all we will return here because of the food and service. What a find! We went based off of a recommendation and we were not disappointed. Our server Matt was kind and very good! My husband had the lunch special pizza called the Livia and the Italian Farm salad-delish, and all for $13! We shared the meatball al forno (gone before I could even take a picture-simply heavenly!) and I had the blackened chicken salad with brussel sprouts. Wow! The little bits of cranberry and Gorgonzola were excellent counterpoints to a healthy and delicious salad. We will be back, and next time we want to try more of the pizzas. Manager was super rude and loud. Kicked my family and I out with a service dog before we could sit down. Manager Cameron said the owner and Kane county health dept stated certified service dogs are not allowed anymore. Inside or outside! I took my friend here for her birthday and we had a fantastic time. When you walk in, the restaurant is very clean with modern decor that felt fresh and inviting. The tables were a little cramped, but it wasn't a big issue and didn't take away from the overall experience. The highlight was the pizza. I ordered the Hammaker's Pie, and it was absolutely delicious, perfectly cooked with great flavor in every bite. I loves the texture of the crust where it was a little chewy, but firm. Went to Gia Mia Geneva during a lunch break. Have tried Gia Mia in other locations and have had a good experience. Didn't love this one. the restaurant itself is nice, has a good cozy ambiance, clean. The server was very nice and helpful. The food was a bit disappointing. I got the pesto chicken tortellini which was a bit odd - the chicken didn't seem great, it was not white chicken breast but that weird chicken consistency that was just odd. Did not enjoy that. The tortellini were ok, it was covered in pesto which was not super warm, and the mozzarella cheese on top was not particularly melty or a good combination. I get that perhaps this is not their greatest dish. I also tried the arancini balls which were very good. Pricing was ok - about $18 for the chicken pesto, and around $14 for the arancini balls. Parking in front and free. Otherwise would probably give it another chance at some point in the future as they have other dishes which are likely better. read more

Loved the food and our server! We had the arranchini appetizer (do it!) and split the Burrata pie pizza and the balsamic chicken salad- both so good! That salad is one of my all-time favorites-it feels decadent yet light at the same time, and very flavorful. I think I'd love it even more with goat cheese instead of feta. The pizza was very tasty! Immediately entering Gia Mia you here the buzz. The dining room is full. I was greeted immediately and sat with a smile! Within a moment my server got me water and asked for my drink order. Again very pleasantly! I had a house Cabernet. It was smooth and adequate for a quick dinner. I ordered some fresh mozzarella and honey app. The bread was fresh and crusted on the edges, spreadable in the center. The taste was subtle but satisfying. I followed this up with beef cheek gnocchi! The dish was cooked almost perfectly (the beef was tender but not as tender as I am used to). Very well seasoned! Very tasty! All in all I have to say I thoroughly enjoyed the experience. ** If you have food allergies, do NOT eat here** I have a gluten allergy, cross contamination is usually okay. I ordered the Pasta Gia and out of curiosity, looked up the Garganelli noodles as I had never heard of them before. Ordered the dish with gluten free preparation, and was told it would be made with gluten free noodles. At all of the other Gia Mia locations that I have dined at, it has been prepared with gluten-free penne noodles. When my meal came out, to my surprise, it came with the garganelli noodles that were listed on the menu. I asked the server to take it back to the kitchen and doublecheck with The Chef ensuring that it was gluten-free because I had never been served a noodle of this type that was gluten-free. She brought back my dish, and told me that it was indeed gluten-free. She said "we have the same noodles in a gluten free version!" And quite blatantly lied to me. I wouldn't be surprised if she didn't even take the dish back to the kitchen. About a half hour later, I was in agonizing pain and having a very severe allergic reaction. Today, I finally called the manager because I'm feeling slightly better, as my reactions usually last about 4 days, and with a portion of that size I expect this reaction to last about a week. The manager, named Cameron, confirmed with me that I was served noodles containing gluten, as they only substitute gluten-free penne noodles as I suspected. He apologized and offered that I could pick up a $50 gift card, when our bill was well over $100. And told me that I have to come to his location when I live closer to several other locations, despite telling him how sick I was and he still expected me to drive the 40 minutes to that restaurant. They clearly do not care about severe allergies and do not take the time or caution to check and make sure that they are serving allergen safe meals. Spare yourself the stomach ache and possibly even worse-- death if you have an allergy more severe than mine. read more

We love Gia Mia! I honestly cannot say enough good things about their food. I've been to 3 of their locations now and my family loves it. We sat in igloo at this location and my kids enjoyed it. This was our second time here. First was in the summer and dined outside - service was pretty awful and the sauce in our pastas was extremely watery. Gave it another shot this winter. The table configuration inside is way too crammed and awkward. We were sat at a 2 top in the middle of the restaurant essentially on top of other people. I am 8 months pregnant and people continually were ramming into my chair - servers, other patrons, kids running around. The pizza my husband got was just okay he said. My Caesar salad was the most bland Caesar I have ever had. Poor service, poor food, poor ambiance. Can't see a reason to return. read more

I've been to Gia Mia a handful of times and it's one of my favorite places! I really love their lunch special since it's the perfect portion. I can try one of their salads AND a pizza which is perfect for my indecisive mind. This time I went with the beet and farro salad and the wild mushroom pizza. Both were excellent! The salad is so flavorful, the pizza has just the right amount of toppings, and the crust is drool worthy. I have two complaints. The parking situation isn't great and inside feels very cramped. I feel like I'm so close to the other tables which makes it feel extra loud too. Even with these complaints, the food and service is outstanding which makes Gia Mia still deserving of five stars! read more

I was at Geneva's location last night and witnessed one of the most unprofessional displays of behavior I've ever seen from a manager. Kameron, the manager on duty, screamed at one of his employees over a very simple misunderstanding. The waitress he targeted had been working hard and doing an excellent job all night. He swore at her and spoke to her in such a degrading way that it brought her to tears causing her to take a step away (which was more than understandable), and he did this directly in front of my table. On a human level, the way he spoke to her was absolutely disgusting. No employee deserves to be treated like that, and his behavior alone felt like a fireable offense. You could tell immediately that he was not receptive to communication or basic respect. Later in the evening, we also saw him get bug-eyed with another server, shaking his head dramatically as if he didn't have time to acknowledge him for even a few seconds. As a customer, this was extremely uncomfortable to watch and far beyond acceptable conduct for someone in a leadership role. The waitress who was yelled at deserves a sincere apology, and the manager, Kameron, seriously needs to be evaluated. I frequent this restaurant multiple times a month and the servers, bartenders, and busboys are always exceptional, but the manager's behavior was beyond unacceptable. This is not how you lead a team, and no employee should be subjected to that kind of treatment in the workplace. read more

We went here for an early dinner and it was pretty busy since there was a bunch of high school kids probably there for homecoming. Im a slim person so I can't imagine if it were a larger customer. Super uncomfortable. Our server was very average and seemed to be chasing his tail but as we all know in the service industry people quit and call out often! But I can't imagine having to serve in the sea of tables. What a disaster. The decor is very cute and clean but hard to enjoy when everything is so crammed! Food was good so I would return to try it again but at a DEAD hour and request a corner table or something. Came here on a Sunday around 1:30 pm and had a group of 4 and didn't have a wait which was so nice. We sat inside due to the heat and it was perfectly cool inside without being freezing. I ordered the lunch special which is a half salad and half pizza from a select menu. I went with the margarita pizza and baby kale salad. The pizza was so delicious and cooked to perfection and MAN! could I have eaten that salad all day everyday. It had a lemon vinaigrette which was delightfully summer and the bacon bits made the salad so filling and a wonderful combination of flavors. One of the places I like in Geneva for a Neapolitan style pizza. The food is good, besides the wood fired pizzas I have tried a few dishes. Always ample portions and pretty tasty. I have been there when busy and the place can get loud so if you're looking for a quiet place you might want to eat there early. When we got there is was nearly empty (2 pm), so I'm not sure how necessary reservations are. We had our choice of table and the service was very attentive and friendly. My favorite part about Gia Mia was the lunch menu! For $13, you get a small pizza and a salad. It was the perfect portion size and a great way to try their pizzas and salads, which you can order large sizes of off of the bigger menu. I got the farro beet salad but without spinach or goat cheese and it was delicious. I also got the mushroom pizza and it was phenomenal- it was clearly freshly made. Another in our group said the kale salad was the best she'd ever had, and everyone enjoyed their pizzas. It was fun for us all to get different combinations and try each others.
