Wood fired cheese pizza and ceaser salad
Melanie R.

Absolutely love this place!!! Discovered it about 5 years ago and have been coming back on my trips to Geneva! Staff is always so pleasant and the ambiance is calm and inviting! The food was absolutely amazing! Totally wished they packaged and sold their salad dressings! I would love to have it in my fridge!

The Bruno, Zucchini Fries, Linguini Carbonara
Lily V.

Our server was Jillian B and she was great! Suggested the zucchini fries which were fresh and crispy. We also got the linguini carbonara and the bruno (pizza). Everything came out quickly and looked appetizing. Jillian was very attentive and checked on us frequently even as the restaurant began to pick up as the dinner rush came in. It is a small space, so you will be close to other tables. I could hear other conversations and had to speak up to hear those I dined with. Despite that, I would love to return for the food!

Mini Ricotta Cheesecake

My first time being in Geneva I stopped by Gia Mia for a late Saturday lunch. The restaurant was not crowded at all and I was seated immediately. The inside seemed bright with a relaxed vibe. I ordered the wild mushroom sacchetti which was ready in a snap. The dish was very flavorful and creamy with a fair amount of mushrooms and a generous amount of pasta. I did feel the pasta was a little on the firm side, but other than that, I was happy with everything else. There are 4 mini desserts on the menu where you can choose 1 or all 4 for $3.50/$13. I tried the mini ricotta cheesecake which I found to be ok. My preference is New York style cheesecake all day. My waiter was very helpful with the menu and where to venture out in Geneva. I will be happy to return for their pizza lunch special.

Had an another amazing dinner Jack went above and beyond in his service for our table he deserves ten stars His suggestion to our table was impeccable Short ribs Chicken piccata Farmer salad Soup wine Pistachio gelato Too bad the manager Kam makes the vibe of this place horrific and he clearly makes everyone including the guests uncomfortable!!!! Would have given 5 stars but the manager Brought it down

This is a quaint, and lively restaurant with a neighborhood flair. The tables are kinda close together but not enough to cause any dining inconveniences. Luckily, we got there early enough (3:45) to avoid the Sunday dinner crowd. By the time we ordered our drinks and appetizers there were people waiting in line outside the restaurant to be seated. The family came this day to celebrate Mother's Day. Once our party of 6 was seated our server Joelle came to greet us and take our orders. Joelle was delightful. Her welcoming personality and genuine enthusiasm for serving us let us know we were in good hands. Joelle gave us great descriptions of the dishes we were looking to order. She was spot on making our decisions easy. We ordered the prosciutto fig bruschetta, white bean soup, ricotta and honeycomb, prosciutto and arugula pizza, paccheri vodka pasta, pasta gia, Scottish salmon, Tuscan Shrimp Polenta and the special, blackened halibut with sweet corn risotto. All the dishes presented well and were very tasty. There were only 3 complaints from our group about the food. The halibut though very tasty, the fish was overcooked and dry in texture. The pasta in both pasta dishes was cooked al dente. IMO triple Al dente. To the point the giant rigatoni in the paccheri pasta felt like eating wax. Very dense and not enjoyable to eat. (Same with the garganelli pasta in the Pasta Gia) Had to send it back. Once the dish was refired it came back not much better. So I sent the dish back and had them prepare it with linguine instead of the giant rigatoni. It was delicious! Joelle our server and the manager were very understanding and did everything to make sure our dining experience was memorable. They wound up comping my meal for the inconvenience. I asked Joelle why? She said we had to fire your dish 3 times to get it right. That's great service. Would return to this restaurant just because of that! All in all we will return here because of the food and service. And don't leave here without trying the bread pudding!

Blackened chicken and brussel sprouts salad

What a find! We went based off of a recommendation and we were not disappointed. Our server Matt was kind and very good! My husband had the lunch special pizza called the Livia and the Italian Farm salad-delish, and all for $13! We shared the meatball al forno (gone before I could even take a picture-simply heavenly!) and I had the blackened chicken salad with brussel sprouts. Wow! The little bits of cranberry and Gorgonzola were excellent counterpoints to a healthy and delicious salad. We will be back, and next time we want to try more of the pizzas. Btw, the restaurant had on a banging 80s Spotify station that we'd love to be made public because we were dancing in our seats!

Manager was super rude and loud. Kicked my family and I out with a service dog before we could sit down. Manager Cameron said the owner and Kane county health dept stated certified service dogs are not allowed anymore. Inside or outside! I calmly said well can you look a the service card and vest BUT he rudely said call the health department and police if you want. Very embarrassing and after all these years of going 2-3x a week I can not believe ownership allows him to work at this well established restaurant.

Bolognese and martini at the bar

I love sitting at the bar and having a cocktail and pasta. The bolognese is my favorite. Mondays are 1/2 price pizza days and they are buzzing with excitement.

Pesto chicken

Went to Gia Mia Geneva during a lunch break. Have tried Gia Mia in other locations and have had a good experience. Didn't love this one. the restaurant itself is nice, has a good cozy ambiance, clean. The server was very nice and helpful. The food was a bit disappointing. I got the pesto chicken tortellini which was a bit odd - the chicken didn't seem great, it was not white chicken breast but that weird chicken consistency that was just odd. Did not enjoy that. The tortellini were ok, it was covered in pesto which was not super warm, and the mozzarella cheese on top was not particularly melty or a good combination. I get that perhaps this is not their greatest dish. I also tried the arancini balls which were very good. Pricing was ok - about $18 for the chicken pesto, and around $14 for the arancini balls. Parking in front and free. Otherwise would probably give it another chance at some point in the future as they have other dishes which are likely better.

Balsamic Chicken Salad- delicious! This is just half.
Kristen D.

Loved the food and our server! We had the arranchini appetizer (do it!) and split the Burrata pie pizza and the balsamic chicken salad- both so good! That salad is one of my all-time favorites-it feels decadent yet light at the same time, and very flavorful. I think I'd love it even more with goat cheese instead of feta. The pizza was very tasty! I drizzled some balsamic glaze on my leftovers and loved it even more, but super good as is. We each got a mini dessert- they are the perfect size- loved the ricotta cheesecake.

We made reservations for 5 ppl, but our table wasn't ready and had to wait for a little over 10 minutes. 2 of my party liked our entree, the other 3 not so much. Service (Hannah) was average, she didn't check in on us much.

Gnocchi with beef cheek!
Frank M.

Immediately entering Gia Mia you here the buzz. The dining room is full. I was greeted immediately and sat with a smile! Within a moment my server got me water and asked for my drink order. Again very pleasantly! I had a house Cabernet. It was smooth and adequate for a quick dinner. I ordered some fresh mozzarella and honey app. The bread was fresh and crusted on the edges, spreadable in the center. The taste was subtle but satisfying. I followed this up with beef cheek gnocchi! The dish was cooked almost perfectly (the beef was tender but not as tender as I am used to). Very well seasoned! Very tasty! All in all I have to say I thoroughly enjoyed the experience. The food was very good! Four stars!

Highly recommended. The food and service are always spot on. A little crowded on weekends but worth the wait.

Are dogs also not allowed on the patio?

Dogs are rarely allowed at Ravinia. Largely NO.

How heated is the patio seating? Good enough to go on a cold day?

We went there when it was pretty cold outside a few weeks ago and the heated patio was warm. They have a nice set up. Fully enclosed and lots of heat.

The walkway to the restaurant was decorated with lights and Christmas ornaments. The windows all had wreaths. We walk in without reservations and were seated immediately upstairs. The restaurant has two levels. It was pretty busy for a weeknight but our server checked on us right away. We were brought bread and the menu was explained. We decided to order the fixed price meal. It came with a choice of appetizer, two entrees, dessert and a bottle of wine. We went with the toasted ravioli appetizer. My entree was the Misto Di Mare. Angel hair pasta with shrimp, scallops and salmon. My friend had the pasta with shrimp and mushrooms. The food was delicious. The restaurant is so cozy and I loved how it looked like a restaurant fit for a Hallmark Christmas movie. The music in the background was wonderful. At one point someone came out and sang Happy Birthday in Italian and then sang That's Amore. What an amazing dinner at an amazing restaurant. Highly recommend !

Came for a work dinner with about 16 people and just had a heck of a great experience. They took us upstairs into our own area that had its own bar and servers. It was dark and lush like a true Italian place should be. Our servers were amazing! One of them even serenaded us with song twice in the evening. He was shocked when I sang the Dean Martin song with him too! The food was amazing... we started with a trio of aps, bruschetta, calamari, and a capris salad that were all outstanding! Then for my meal I got one of the specials... the sea food cannelloni with shrimp, crab and muscles. It was set in a pond of the most luscious cream sauce that was seriously heavenly! It was the perfect location, the perfect food, that made it all the perfect night!

We were seated immediately but it took a while for our waitress (Lauren) to take our drink order. They have a nice selection of wines and beers. We all ordered off their Restaurant Week menu but when my wife mentioned she is Gluten Free ,she was told they could no substitutions because they were too busy. Basically the server had no suggestions. After we all placed our orders,we waited over an hour to get our appetizer and salad. The server kept saying the kitchen was backed up so she gave us a complimentary round of drinks. The appetizer and salad came on the same plate which was strange but the portions are definitely small probably because they were part of the Restaurant Week menu The wrapped shrimp were tasty and the wedge salad was your basic wedge salad. I asked for salt and pepper and again it took a while to get it and the pepper grinder did not work. My wife had the Risotto with shrimp and asparagus and tasted very bland. I had the Wrapped Filet which was small in size and cooked more medium than medium well as I requested . The desserts were the best... Tiramisu and Pistachio Gelato even tho they put cookies on top of the Gelato which have Gluten. The noise level is super loud and the servers and or kitchen seemed overwhelmed. I'm not sure I will go back .
