I took our Parson Russell Terrier to be hand stripped by Raven. The first time he left tufts that stuck out. I gave him another chance and when I brought it to his attention at our second appointment he said nothing. He also didn't even say hello. Very expensive and poor quality of work. Wasn't honest and upfront about shive accidents. I was happy to be fit when I called about my poodle cut but that quickly turned into disappointment after waiting four and a half hours for my poodle only for him to return with visible icks! I didn't even take a picture of his abdomen! This is a 165$ service I tipped 10$ and this was never mentioned to me, not a discount, not a "I made a mistake" this is not good service, what if he was accidentally cut would I be notified? We have taken our dog here for 2 years and they always do a great job! We have a little mixed doodle for reference and we are here every couple months due to her curly hair. Mallory always takes such good care of her, she's always excited when she arrives. We get so many compliments on her cut and they are totally open to suggestions to give you what you want, but I honestly haven't had to tell them much cause they just make her look great every time. We were in the area to try Harley's Hot Dog place and parked right in front of The Poodle Shop. We had our dog with us on our trip and my wife said he needed his nails trimmed. We went inside and were helped by Abbey S (her card says "Groomer Extraordiaire" and Abbey's photo is on the back with a poodle. Nice touch). Abbey was quick to fit us in for a quick (10 minute) nail trim for our dog. Abbey was kind, professional and took great care with our dog. We really appreciate her getting us in on a moment's notice and doing such a great job. Great place to bring your dog if you're in the area. read more

While very pleased with the groom for two small dogs, the shop books all the clients in the morning and keeps them all day, so both times my dogs were kennelled for over 4 hours, with actually six hours under their care. Why bother to make an appt time? It's not what I want me dogs to experience and they are upset and wired all night. It's takes two hours to groom my dogs. If I make an appt at 10:30, I expect to get my dogs no later than 3 hours. I'm sick of groomers who get away with this BS. read more

Missy takes great care of my elder Yorkie and my sweet poodle pup, and when we added a cattle dog into the mix who had been homeless, Missy stepped right up and took great care of her. After three years without a home, you can imagine the grouping challenges. Missy didn't even blink. She was patient and sweet with our new family member. I have been looking for a groomer in Littleton for a while and was recommended this shop. They made my 8 year old American Eskimo Mix look beautiful and extremely clean! My biggest complaint would be that once he got home he started shaking his head and scratching at his ears a ton. 1 day after his grooming we realized what the problem was, there was cotton left in BOTH of his ears. It was not small pieces either it was a full 2"-3" strip of cotton. When we pulled out the cotton his were definitely clean so much so that one started bleeding. Aside from this experience I loved the service. I just wish that this did not happen. I will not be returning to this shop and hope that others do not experience the same events that we did. read more

The folks at the Poodle Shop are amazing. Missy took care of our very young, inexperienced, and slightly skittish giant schnauzer, Scout. We've had labradoodles in the past and had a hard time finding the 'right groomer' in Texas -- but the Poodle Shop knows EVERYTHING doodle. We were nervous about taking our 6 month old to get groomed (she hardly sits at home for brushing) but Missy was so caring and loving towards Scout we didn't have any worries leaving her there. Missy took her time with us and talked about different cuts, Scouts temperament, and she was honest right away and told us that if Scout was too nervous, she might only be able to get a few things done. She didn't want her to be traumatized. Meanwhile, in the background there was about 8 other dogs calmly sitting in cages waiting to be picked up. A few hours later Missy called to give me an update. Scout wasn't finished because she was still a little nervous with all of the loud noises, so she wanted to wait until everyone was gone to finish her up. She called about an hour later and said Scout was ready to be picked up. The drive there was nerve wracking. Our previous doodles have had a LOT of bad hair cuts and I wasn't sure what to expect. As soon as I saw Scout I was so HAPPY - she looked amazing.I was so impressed with what an excellent job Missy did on her, I had to give her a hug. I will be using The Poodle Shop from now on -- even for our mutt Duke. read more

Mirely is such a gem. She has a Shih Tzu so I'm sure she has a lot of experience with small dogs. I couldn't have picked a better groomer for my little Shih Poo than her. My little boy gets genuinely excited to go to the shop and he is so eager to give her cuddles. He wouldn't be that way if she didn't handle him with as much care and compassion as I'm positive she does. He always looks great and I've never been disappointed. Today was our first time trying out the Poodle Shop. Checking in the pups was quick and easy, and the groomer spend ample time asking me exactly what I wanted done with each of my dogs. I have a Bernese Mountain Dog that was in serious need of de-shedding since she is blowing her coat. She also needed her ears and feet trimmed, along with a sanitary clip around the rear, which I was told is standard procedure. Good to know! When we picked her up she looked amazing. I swear she looked 10 pounds thinner. What can't I find a shop that does that? Her trimming was excellent, her coat was silky, shiny, and smelled great. Our other pup is a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel. Honestly, he is a little bastard. Sweet as can be, but he is clearly royalty and it is our job to keep him comfortable. Going to the groomers is not part of his princely plan, and he is at the very least totally annoying with his vocalization of his displeasure. Trying to noisily claw his way out of the cage is also a less than endearing quality. Despite his royal tantrum, they managed to make him look spectacular. He has a long coat that gets matted, and has a penchant for rolling in dead things, so this was really an amazing feat. I know, he sounds totally amazing right? At least he's pretty. I was very impressed with their work, but you do pay for it. My 2 pups were $180. Now, they may have added an asshole tax for the little dog, which would be understandable. Nevertheless, I think it is well worth every penny spent. I would highly recommend Poodle Shop! read more

Gerardo is wonderful. I took my boy, Prince, in for a cut and he came back looking dapper and fresh. He's a Westie/Jack Russel mix and groomers tend to just take all of his hair off. Please see my previous review for raves about Rachel's skills as a groomer. Oscar always looks fantastic when she's done with him. Sadly, our visit back in June of 2013 will be our last one. I struggled with how to approach the situation on Yelp, because I think she is very good at what she does, but I now have concerns that will stop me from returning. Hence, I'm going with 3 stars this time around. Grooming services here are definitely "A-OK" as the 3 stars indicate, but take caution if you have a pet with special needs. My Oscar is now 19 and has health issues. One of the manifestations of this is that he is wobbly. His back end doesn't always follow where his front half is going and he can fall over. Something was going on last time I brought Oscar in. Even though she has hired help, they were running behind and Oscar's session took longer than promised. To Rachel's credit, she gave me a bit of a discount for the inconvenience. On the ride home, Oscar was howling. And, not a normal howl, but a "something is wrong" howl. He would not come out of his carrier when we arrived home and could not stand up, or even sit up, once I picked him up out of the carrier. His eyes were all pupil and he clung to me. Something was very, very wrong. It was almost like he was drugged, so I called Rachel to see if she had done anything differently. She said no, that she did notice he was having problems, and that he probably just "wore himself out." I rushed him to the vet, where it was discovered that he was severely hypothermic. It's also possible that he may have had a stroke. Thankfully after spending hours at the vet with hot water bottles to raise his core temperature, he was ok to come home. I kept my house extra warm for a few days to help his recovery, and since then he is back to being his normal, yet special needs, self. Now, something could have just gone wonky with Oscar to make his temperature drop so low. He's old with health issues. What really concerns me is that he was so clearly not ok and that it did not seem to be recognized and/or communicated to me. I'm going to do the best I can by myself trying to keep Oscar clean and just crank up the heat in the house while I do so. He looks a lot prettier when the professionals do it, but I can't risk it. read more

Never Again, I have a collie dog..This is my third collie, the Poodle shop has groomed the last two of them with great results. A very bad experience today 9 / 24 / 21...all my collies have taken at least four hours of time to do a proper grooming needless to say I was shocked when I got the call that my dog was done after only one hour and fifty minutes, the groomer Hollie said my dog got aggressive during the brush out and charged me an extra $ 45.00...my dog is very shy I believe if she would of gave my dog her full attention and taken her time this would have never happened...I waited over a month to get an appointment ..I never wanted a rush job for my dog...this groomer should be ashamed of this kind of service...I'm even mad at myself for tipping her....out the door was $ 180.00....this is insane...I will never be back. lots of people have been delayed getting there dogs in because of this covid maddness and this shop is taking advantage of there loyal customers. read more

We just took our pittie mix here for his first professional nail trim and Kellie and Abby did great and were patient with him. He was not a happy camper and wiggled all over the place, but they managed to get all of his nails clipped. I really appreciate their willingness to work with him and they said they'd see him again. He even left with a wagging tail! I would pay just for the peace of mind to not have to battle him for nail trims at home. read more

My standard poodle received her first ever professional groom at age 11 years from Holly. Holly did a great job and Piper has never been so plush. She came home singing "I feel pretty" from Maria in West Side Story which is to say she was one happy camper with her full, swiffer tail wagging all the way. Who would think that a shop named The Poodle Shop would end up being the best place I've ever found to have my lab groomed? Morley at this shop is the dog whisperer of groomers. She has been the only groomer that has successfully been able to dry our lab without stressing her out terribly. She was also amazingly gentle with our other elderly, frail dog who required very special handling. read more

Brooke was amazing. She has a way with dogs for sure! I brought in my new foster Tina, a chow chow shepherd mix. Tina was in the worst condition, I had never seen a dog so matted and covered in filth. Tina also has a lot of fear and I was so worried she would just have a meltdown at the groomer. Brooke was there for the intake and just set the tone with Tina and Tina just followed her! Brooke must have been just as good with her over the many hours it took to groom her because when I came to pick her up she was calmer than before we brought her! I was also expecting parts of her to be shaved because of the mats, but Brook got them all out and Tina is as soft as a bunny and her natural fluffy self! Her new, clean coat has really boosted her confidence and her recovery is back on track. I would never use them ever again ! I was treated like a criminal my poms really enjoyed Amy and Sharlene is rude and doesn't know how to deal with people I i was told to take my animals else where and told me I was the problem I was totalled baffled. All because I asked about a nail trim for my American bull dogs and pit bulls 7 month old puppies. Their not use to a lot of people or other dogs so I suggested we start with nail trim and one of us can be with them. It was right after I mentioned the breed of my pups that they got really weird and told me they are all booked up ect. It's ok we really loved Amy I was just returning her call I left two weekends ago on our pups. My husband and I loved how she did our poms but after today being treated like that being told it was me why I can't come there when they kept going around the question. I would NEVER recommend the Poodle Shop. New to the area, i shopped around for a groomer because i know my dog can be a handful. He is a 9 year old small dog. When i dropped him off, i asked that they not use the clippers on my dogs face because i know that makes him extremely anxious. i told them other groomers have had luck cutting his nails a couple at a time, and letting him hang out in between. 8 hours later I went in to pick up my dog, and she told me i owed $100 dollars. she told me she did use the clippers on the face, because my dog needs to learn that they wont hurt him -she said he is just being a baby about these things, and i need to train my dog better (keep in mind, he is 9 years old...) she said his last groomer must have been enabling him by making all these adjustments, and thats why he was so bad. she told me that the whole time she was cutting him, her fellow employee was telling her she would never put up with my dog and kept urging her to call me and pick the dog up (honestly, i would have preferred that than putting my dog through hours of misery and $100 down the drain) I feel the women at the Poodle Shop were not straight forward and honest with me. I gave them advice on my dog to make things easier for them. instead, they disregarded me and charged me a ridiculous amount. read more

I've taken my Goldendoodle, Maddy, to the Poodle Shop several times and she comes back looking great! It takes a special groomer to have the patience to groom a doodle...or a poodle...when their fur gets long and matted. Rather than shaving Maddy down completely, like some groomers would do, they actually take the time to brush out the mats and keep most of her fur! I will keep coming back to this place even though I live in northwest Denver and it's located in Littleton. I seriously don't even know where to start. This place is simply awesome and Rachel just rules! I have 3 cats and 2 dogs and I love them but I am awful at taking care of them. Their claws grow out, they get dirty, and I have a cat that gets dreadlocks. I know...I suck. So when my level of guilt redlines I bring them in and I know they're being taken care of, they always look great and more importantly they come out happier than when I took them in. They do a great job cutting my mini schnauzer! I recently moved to the area and finding a good groomer has always been a challenge, but both times they cut her she is even and per breed specs! I've pretty much seen the gamut of dog groomer abilities AND knowledge over the years. Rachel at The Poodle Shop is HIGHLY recommended! My sheltie has not encountered undercoat removal, scissoring and shaping like Rachel did, in over 5 years. I wasn't sure if I'd ever find a groomer this excellent again! Rachel knows whats she's doing, I can tell you that! I know the difference too as my sheltie was involved in the Dog Show World 8 years ago and have witnessed top level grooming on my sheltie during that time. It is truly an art and most groomers out there haven't arrived at this high level of expertise yet. There's a REALLY big difference between mediocre and TOP NOTCH. My sheltie is sticking with Rachel. I love taking my dog to this groomer. My dog is a bichon-poodle and is a very anxious little guy. I'm not usually a fan of groomers that kennel dogs, but I love this place and I am so glad I found them. Misty is so patient with my dog, and always makes him look so cute. She told me that he barks most of the time, but that they like to get him in and out so he isn't so stressed and stressing other dogs, which I really appreciate.
