Perhaps "Pool Fools" would be a more accurate name. Maybe it's harsh but if you advertise that you've been in business several decades, it shouldn't take a week and four visits to power wash a pool. Tech was scheduled for Monday. Called at EOD to say their schedule ran late and he'd be out Tuesday. Called Tuesday at 10:30AM to say he was headed into the office to grab his gear and head over- essentially not starting his day til lunchtime? The inefficiency doesn't end there. Techs came out again on Thursday and Saturday to ensure work was completed. The entire job was to drain the pool, power wash the sides, refill, and balance. Their actual presence is only required for a couple of hours. Thankfully a significant discount was applied, but the lack of professionalism makes it difficult to recommend this business. read more

Unreliable service, even after repeated promises and assurances that things would change.

I decided to replace my pool filter and decided to use the pool house because they had done work for me several before and I had a good experience. This time not so much. I went with them for the filter replacement. They didn't show on the scheduled day. I called and left a message. Didn't hear back. Called again and talked to Samantha (who actually seems to being to be helpful). She said the installation had been rescheduled. But I was never notified. Noah came out a week ago today and installed the new filter but ran out of connections so could not connect the waste line. He said he would be back the next day but didn't show. And no one called. I called them and got Samantha again this last Monday morning. She indicated that Noah had an opening in his schedule that day and that maybe he could come out and that someone would call me back. No one ever did. Now it's been a full week of not being able to drain some of the water or vacuum. The pool is nearly overflowing. And now the pump has stopped working. I don't know what has happened to this formerly good company, but it's not good anymore. read more

A tech named Noah was sent out and was terrible. Wouldn't return calls, wouldn't follow up on promises, and literally sold equipment that was unnecessary. Finally had to call another vendor who showed that what was done was completely erroneous. Not sure if it was done on purpose or just incompetence but run, don't walk away from this company. Probably the worst experience that I have had with any company at anytime. I give them a one because a zero is not available. read more

Two locations, name changes, owner changes, the struggle is real working with these guys. They took my $67 for an initial trip fee which should have been credited to my next service, which verbally was $225. Then, before I know it they charge me an additional $338, never do the credit (total over $400) and for what - they flood my yard, send a tech that lies about what he does and who he is, they let my dogs out of the yard to be lost, they refuse to correct payment to charge what they say, they can't produce reports when I say nobody came, their internet doesn't work when you show up to review reports, and after all of this the owner goes MIA and doesn't respond. I even showed up in person and the owner walked right by avoiding dealing with customer service - probably because he knew there was a lack of service by his team. His employees will tell you that they will figure things out, they don't call back. They will tell him "Andre has a lot of stress - we are sorry for all of this." CRAP KEEPS happening. read more

When we were looking around for our first house, we were definitely not expecting to end up with a pool in the mix. It was a great bonus, but with great bonuses come great responsibility. At least when we are talking about a swimming pool. The past two years has been a serious learning experience, which we could not have survived without The Pool House. The staff is extremely helpful and knowledgeable, and has helped us over come such obstacles as algae (yuck), pump failure, and Polaris issues. In fact, they fixed our Polaris for the cost of parts (like $10). The only thing keeping them from 5 stardom is the prices. Since they are locally owned, they cannot compete with some of the nationwide chains. The prices aren't outrageous, but they are not the cheapest. That being said, we prefer to support local shops, and the level of service keeps us coming back. read more

This place has gone downhill in the last few years. Had them install a remote control valve system for our hot tub..BIG MISTAKE ! Nothing was done on time, returned calls were non-existent from Noah, estimate he gave was missing several things.- wanted additional $$ to finish the job--- System is still not functioning. Bad service from the Alamo Heights location. While I was out of town, my son took his Polaris booster pump to the Huebner location-- 10+ days ago. They told him it would be ready last Monday. He left a couple of voicemails last week and received no returned call from them. I finally reached them today and found out they have not even looked at the pump. I completely agree with the guy who gave them a bad rating a few days ago. Better to go somewhere else......... my Son and I both wish we had. read more

I had an appointment with the Pool House on Sleepy Hollow today to install my cover before the Norther hit tomorrow . It took 6 calls to get the appointment because they don't answer the phone usually, ask you to leave a message, and don't return your call. So, the appointment was at noon and after spending hours getting the pool and patio ready to install the cover, I get a call 1 1/2 hours after my appointment that they wouldn't be able to make it today- one of his guys got hurt a few days ago and his other 2 were too busy to do the job. Yes, I'm a fan. Have been a fan ever since we bought our house (some 12 ago). Stopped being a fan when business was sold, but gladly "came back" once they have reclaimed the business. I am a DYI kind of person, and the folks from the Pool House ALWAYS give me a fair and honest advise. I would have given them the fifth star if their rates and hours of operations would change a bit. Maybe stay open until 6pm and also open on Sundays--especially during peak season. Weekly pool maintenance has really gone down. Used them for about two years before the subcontracted maintenance man started to leave the pool green. Gave him the benefit of the doubt and let him do his thing, but after swimming one afternoon and my hair had a spectacular green hue I knew it was time to move on. read more

Its been a while since I've felt ripped off by a company! After returning home from the Pool House located at 4171 Sleepy Hollow in San Antonio I decided to check into why I was charged $37 for a 1.75 pound of Leisure Time Brominating Granular. On the internet everyone else is charging $13 for this same product. The 5 pound containers on the internet is $32. SO WHY IS THE POOL HOUSE TRIPLING THEIR PRICES?? As I was leaving the older guy out front watering his cement seemed to freak out when I backed up into the street to get out of his messed up parking area and gave me the stink eye. There seems to be something wrong with this place and the people that work there. regardless what their problem is I will never go there again. It is wrong for a business to triple the price for an item. I do not trust this company and will warn my pool owning and spa owning neighbors about them. read more

We started using the Pool House when we purchased a home in 2015. Little jobs replacing a pump, cleaning filter and installing a new heater went fine with no problems. In between this time owners changed three times and the current owner is the original owner. In 2017 I started using them for full pool maintenance while I was deployed. I also had them Re-plaster the pool that September. From September to July 2018 the bottom of my pool was stained from leaves or debris sitting. Mind you I have them coming out weekly to maintain the pool. I finally was able to get the stains out myself. It is October 2019 and my plaster is already cracking. The store staff is always very friendly and knowledgeable. The problem is the owner does not take care of customers and will not warranty work. Your calls are ignored and your left to deal with it another way. Update, the owner came by the house 16 Oct 2019 and promised to fix the cracks in plaster and apply an acid wash to the pool to remove stains. I also gave him the opportunity to bid on new tile. Once the repairs take place I will update again. For now I moved my rating from two to three stars. read more

The office staff, especially Krystal couldn't have been more pleasant and helpful. All my questions and concerns were answered and service work completed to my 100% satisfaction. This review is strictly based upon my experience with servicing a hot tub, or lack thereof. The business is called The Pool House, and that is a completely accurate statement, they do best with POOLS. I was having some issues with our hot tub and called them because I had bought a few chemicals and such from their store and I liked the people there. Long story short, one of their employees had "some past experience" with hot tubs and came out. He came out and virtually told me what I already knew, the circulation pump was done. I had put a new circulation pump in a year ago and I was looking for some expert advice on why the flipping thing was already dead again. I gotta canned response about the hard water around here, he poked around a little bit looking at the guts of the tub, but did nothing and gave me no new knowledge. Charged me $67 for nothing. When I asked about getting a new pump, he said he'd go on the Internet and find me something but he'd have to mark it up and cost me 3x as much if I just went on the Internet and got it myself like last year. I tried to go pay my bill 2x in their store and couldn't because a certain person was not working that day and the people there couldn't take my payment. Either way, I think they have some broken processes but overall, a decent bunch of folks. I ended up going to Spa Crafters on 1604 who were very informative about my Jacuzzi hot tub and helped me immensely. So, if you have hot tub issues, avoid The Pool House and save yourself some money, if you have pool issues, go to The Pool House. In my honest opinion, they should have just been up front and stated that they don't do hot tubs instead of taking $67 from me. read more

We began our service with The Pool House a year ago because the previous owners of our house was using them. Things did not start well from the beginning, our pool was green like a lagoon and when my wife called they did not believe her how bad it was and just chalked it up to the heavy rains. Finally they sent someone else out and sure enough it required multiple treatments of shocking the pool to get it back. Turns out the guy that was taking care of it had multiple pools like this and didn't have much experience. The company did not seem apologetic but they did get it looking good. We then then had a problem with our polais pump and they fixed but did not tell us until the bill showed up in the mail. We appreciated the initiative but would like to know beforehand. Fast forward a couple months the pump is not working again and there was a pressure release valve missing. Not sure if it was related to them removing the pump and not placing the valve back but I would not be surprised. Recently we had a different person from the company come out and was commenting how the filter was in bad shape and had been neglected by the other person who regularly cares for the pool. Says he called up to the company and chewed some people out and assured me that it would get taken care of and our pool would shine like a diamond in a week. Well the pool is horrible but it certainly isn't shining like a diamond. On top of that the regular guy is back this week and stating that he has no idea what the other guy is talking about. On top of these specific incidents they aren't always the best at cleaning the pool and at times would not even clean out the skimmer basket. I give them two stars because they at least seem nice. Not real helpful but nice. We stuck with them for a year because we kind of figured it was bad but who knows the next one may be worse and we've never had a pool before. Do not use this company. I used them for 2 years and had bad luck with them the entire time. They would not show up for their weekly cleaning, but would claim they had, they just forgot to leave the slip. They would usually credit me back for the service, but this happened way to often. They would leave my pump off, leave without fixing it, claim to repair or replace parts that had clearly not been changed out at all. When I finally canceled the service after three weeks of no shows, and went with another company, I found out they had left me without a filter! read more
