We had trouble finding this restaurant because Google Maps has it wrong. Be aware of that, they are on the main road, but you need to park in back. It's a nice little sandwich shop, with sandwiches made to order. Cash only. We sat on The Porch itself, nice respite on a long trip. Had a Reuben and a roast beef sandwich. Nothing fancy at all, just a great place to have a tasty bite to eat. read more

Came here at noon for lunch today and was told they had a big party and ran out of food. WTF? Had to drive 50 miles to the next town. Open but no food at noon, how could that be anything but a 1 star rating. Sorry, I hate to do it. read more

Great food and service. They like dogs here! The owner is cool. We showed up 30 minutes before closing and he told us later that he sized us up in the parking lot before he agreed to let us come in and eat. We passed the test! Good vibes only in this place. read more

Humble. Friendly. Service. We stopped by to eat lunch on our way back to home. My family ordered between ham and chicken salad. Sooo good! DO NOT forget to eat your cookie- you may want to order one to go! I wish I lived near to eat here again. Everyone is friendly! Just love this place. read more

Delicious little sandwich shop near the highway and the "main" drag in town. Lovely place, larger inside than expected and great atmosphere. Of course, there is a large porch out back. It was a little too hot to sit outside, so we passed on the porch. Cozy little deli with new sandwiches and salads pre-made to go. Best part is the make-it-yourself style ordering process. I wasn't extremely hungry so I ordered a chicken salad half sandwich on sourdough with a side of pickled cucumbers and onions. DELICIOUS. My friend ordered the baked potato soup with her half turkey sandwich on sourdough. It too was delicious. The place was super reasonably priced and the staff was friendly. We were the only customers in the entire place so the two ladies working there chatted with us for a bit. They both prepared the food right in the back where we could see the kitchen and workspace. Overall, great place for lunch with friends and family. Enjoy! read more

Visited The Porch for dinner and was absolutely delighted the whole time. The owners really make an effort to make it a very special experience and succeeded. We made a reservation for 7 people and when we arrived, our table was set up beautifully for us. We started with the mussels which were absolutely delicious and we were given plenty of bread to soak up the broth. The entrees were very flavorful and prepared well. The pecan pie they offered for dessert was the best I have ever had and I was incredibly tempted to order a second piece. The prices are very reasonable for the quality of food, though do not expect it to be a quick meal, more of an event. read more

Shannon runs a great sandwich shop on par with places many many many miles away. Everything is made fresh. The tea is sun-brewed and the feel is relaxing. I believe you're looking at cash only which works fine if you're passing through. My favorite has got to be their lentil and tomato-basil soups. Their lemonade is always refreshing and their roast beef sandwiches are great too. What they have from day to day changes depending on what they can get fresh so keep an open mind. I promise anything you order is made with soul and will be worth the experiment. read more

We have been to The Porch twice, once in 2007 and once in 2008; a family member has been many times. I anticipate eating there in 2009. ;-) The deli fare is fresh and tasty, and prepared with care. This place used to be the BEST place anywhere near Cimarron to get a great lunch. The owner makes her own bread, which was worth the trip alone. Recently it has morphed from a lunch deli to a fine dining venue while still retaining the cool casual vibes. They are now open Friday and Saturday nights and Brunch on Sundays. I've not had the opportunity to experience the brunch, but it's definitely on my "to do" list. Each time I had dinner there the food was absolutely amazing. The menu, like the venue, is small. But there are always three incredible entrees to choose from along with a selection of appetizers and salads. You may only get one choice of desert, but it's what you would pick there was a list of ten items! Likewise, the wine and beer list is selective, but well chosen. I can't put into words the quality of the food. Fresh, creative, perfection... the owners make you right at home and yes, there is still the amazing homemade bread. If you are a "foodie" and like discovering new things but have no need for a pretentious setting, this is the place for you. Enjoy! read more

We stopped for lunch at The Porch Deli, it was wonderful. I had 1/2 a roast beef sandwich on ciabatta with mayo, lettuce, tomato and onion and a bowl of the best asparagus soup. My husband had an equally good turkey on ciabatta and potato salad. We each also had an incredible homemade cookie for dessert, it was so good I wished I'd gotten another one. The lady who owns and runs the deli was very friendly. We will definitely return. Do yourself a favor and stop by The Porch Deli when you find yourself in Cimarron. read more

This is one of my favorite places, friendly staff, great food and reasonably priced. As one friend put it, "I feel like I am sitting on their porch at home". Their brunch is a highlight, 15.00 for a main course, bread, side, drink and dessert. Doesn't get better than this! read more

We stopped here for a quick lunch while traveling, and it far exceeded our expectations. I visited the website and read the reviews, and wasn't quite sure what to expect from "casual fine-dining," but truly - there is no better explanation. The atmosphere is laid back and casual with a comfortable patio and nice views, but the food is 5-star fine dining. The menu changes so you won't know what to expect until you arrive unless you call ahead; however, there were enough choices to please various palates but not so many as to overwhelm. The price included bread, choice of coffee, tea, or water, entree, and dessert. Each part of the meal was better than the last. We were served croissants and carrot cake muffins after being seated, and we could have filled up on that alone. For entrees, we had the panini (turkey, Swiss, baked cinnamon apples), green chili stew, and the Benedict. Everything was cooked perfectly and full of flavor. The star of the show was definitely the dessert. I don't recall what it was called, but it was a pastry with a cream cheese filling and a blueberry compote. It was phenomenal. Food aside, the part of the meal that pleased me most was the owners. They were welcoming, accommodating, and gracious. It felt like we were enjoying a meal at the house of an old friend. We had 4 tired and cranky children ages 4 and under, and the owner engaged them, put their food on individual plates without us even asking, and was more than gracious about our children being children. I had Sunday Brunch here. You can sit on a porch facing the main drag in town (but it's not right ON the road which is nice) and hear locals talk about what they're seeing. One group remarked on a local law man riding up and down the main drag with his lights flashing. "Emergency donut stop?" ventured one man. Nice, dense, salty ham quiche with a quinoa/veggie side. The meal was served with a and pretty good picante and avocado relish. I loved the swallow's next in the eaves of the porch. Two negatives: The only take cash. And I found a big long synthetic fiber in the pasta salad I bought to take away. Otherwise the pasta salad was tasty. read more

I easily just had one of the best meals of my life. I live in a pretentious city and happened to catch a glimpse of the patio yesterday after getting gas across the street and drove on to taos without much second thought. We had breakfast in taos and decided to head to eagle nest for their arts festival and didn't have many options for a decent meal and remembered the cute little patio not too far down the highway. We had the mussels, bruschetta, the Greek salad, pork tenderloin, shrimp creole and the brownie. I was blown away. My wine glass was never empty, my boyfriends water was never empty, the food was BEYOND FRESH and the conversation was exactly what we needed while visiting a foreign town. Roger took amazing care of us. He joked and made us feel at home. We met an awesome local named Monte that was cool as a cucumber. Totally added to an awesome experience and have us the best spots for hiking and awesome stories. We will be traveling for the next week and have to head this way on our way back to Dallas and there is no question that we will be stopping for dinner on our way home. I hope everyone passing through town stops here. The food was out of this world and stuff that you won't find in any small town, including taos and sante fe. I stopped in here for early lunch. I had the Roasted corn & spinach enchiladas and they were so delicious - I mean really tasty, fresh, and filled with flavor. Also, had the cucumber salad and was thrilled to see they served sun tea, which of course was great too. It's a sweet little place with a beautiful relaxing patio/deck. The service was A+ as well. If I ever need to go to Cimarron again, I hope they're still there, as I would love to eat here again. PS. The carrot cake was excellent. read more
