Converted skeptic. A yelp review for this place said "best bagel sandwich ever". Frankly my response was, "Ever? Like in all place and all time in the history of man? Where is this person from? Small town or NYC?" So expectations were low. But let me tell you, after a few bites I was thinking there's no way the king of Babylon had a bagel sandwich this good. That maybe, just maybe it actually was a better sandwich than that of our forefathers. And maybe that yelp reviewer was more historian than day hiker. It's like you drive up to Prescott and go take your kids to a park and see some guy casually running a 3min mile. You tell him, "what are you doing up here? You should be in the Olympics smashing world records?" And he just tells you, "I just like running." That's this place - it's got no business being up here just casually making transcendent bagel sandwiches. Someone needs to write about this place on a stone tablet in 5 languages so our posterity can have some sort of record for when in 1000 years some guy casually says unchallenged that they're eating the "best bagel sandwich ever". read more

Basic customer service keeps small businesses in business. If you don't have that, you're not going to have a business pretty quick. During my visit, I ordered something they were out of (found out five minutes later), and was given a flavorless replacement that I tossed. The hand-off process is also complex, the drinks are not labeled and the lids are on a separate table behind the counter, which is both a safety and a sanitation concern. The staff seemed clueless and wasn't particularly understanding. I won't be back, but if you want to keep your doors open, get it together. read more

Super cute place! I enjoyed the ambiance the most here because it's so spacious and the foliage everywhere made it tranquil. However, the London fog I got wasn't great... it was missing the vanilla but it was warm and the staff was nice. They did forget my avocado toast but it was worth the wait the sourdough was sooooo good and the avocado was perfectly ripe and had a nice chipotle sauce on top! My son got banana bread but it was vegan and to me it was not great but he enjoyed it so if a 3 year old likes it I'm sure you'll enjoy it as well. The coffee was great. The breakfast sandwich was ok, not my style but it was my partner's and he did enjoy it. I love the atmosphere, the plants, the decor, unassuming but very refreshing. Unfortunately, the biggest letdown was my ordering a crepe and waiting 10 plus minutes for it just to find out the staff didn't add it to our order. I don't know how that miscommunication happened because I asked them for the crepe options, and I very clearly said the lemon one please. By the time the staff let us know they didn't put that order in, we didn't want to wait any longer so we left. Worst experience I have had and it is very unfortunate. The coffee house is nice, the breakfast bagel was delicious but my husband did not like his drink, he ordered a vanilla latte with oat milk. He originally thought it just needed a little more oat milk so he asked for a little more. As we are leaving, he still did not like it so I told him I would go and ask for them to remake it with whole milk since he was embarrassed to go and ask. I went back inside and asked the young lady with glasses if she could remake it and I explained why, she was nice and started remaking it but then the other lady asked her what happened and then she approached me about the drink asking what was wrong. I explained to her and she basically said "he ordered it with oat milk didn't he, that's how he ordered it" I explained yes and the whole story again and we just went back and forth which was very uncomfortable because I have never encountered this at a coffee house. I have so many Yelp & google reviews for coffee houses because I love lattes and I have always had great experiences. This lady was rude, confrontational and condescending for something so small. I am not sure why this request really bothered her, she was visibly upset. After all the back and forth I asked, do you want me to pay for the new one? She said no. Then I said I'll just keep the drink but she had spilled it out. At some point she said she is not obligated to remake a drink that we ordered which I at no point said she was obligated, but I never thought I would get this response. We spent $30 plus tip, I want my husband to enjoy his drink. My drink was great, he didn't like the oat milk you use sorry..... on top of it all she told me he needs to ask when ordering at different coffee houses the brand before ordering....wow. read more

We came here for breakfast on a Saturday morning and there was a lot of cars parked in the parking lot as well as inside. We ordered the Breakfast Sandwich, a Berries and Cream Crepe, a poppy seed muffin, and everybody ordered their drinks like the Caramel Macchiato and the Matcha Latte. The staff here were friendly and nice and the feel of the interior was very relaxing. Our food and drinks were done as they were made. The Breakfast Sandwich was okay because the chipotle sauce didn't complement the rest of of the sandwich. The poppy seed muffin and the Berries and Cream Crepe were both delicious. Cutest little place! The crepes were so good! I had the Banana Nutella one. My husband got the breakfast sandwich. You can choose your bagel and the Chipotle Mayo waa flavorful without being too spicy. The drip coffee was strong, but very good since we like it that way. We also shared a blueberry muffin, it was vegan and a little dry, but not inedible. The staff were very friendly and the service was fast considering they were super busy. This place is awesome, what an awesome coffee shop and location! Right on your way into downtown The Porch is just off the road and it's absolutely worth a stop. They have great drip coffee and other coffee choices. Their blueberry muffin was fantastic and they had many other options for pastries and food. The atmosphere is perfect in my opinion. Plenty of seating for a big group or just by yourself to study, work or socialize. It's not too loud, not too busy and everyone is super super friendly. As my first stop on my day trip to Prescott, it turned out to be the ideal coffee shop for a perfect morning pick-me-up. I ordered the Porch Swing, which was a unique and delightful hot drink that offers a delightfully complex mix of flavors. Made with dates, cacao powder, ghee, coconut cream, and more, the drink was different than most coffee shop specials -- and I loved it! The lavender scone was also fresh and floral, so I'm glad I was able to snag one. While I wasn't able to get the WiFi to work properly on my computer and had to rely on my hotspot, I had a nice time working in the gorgeous hallway surrounded by plants and glowy light. read more

sadly, things at The Porch in Prescott aren't the same. at least not these days. what really made this place work, back in the day, was Jesse the owner and his impeccable eye for quality and ingredients. his partner at the restaurant was an extremely talented young lady (30s maybe?) who did most of the baking, and sadly again, we learned this summer she has relocated to Chicago. i forget her name, but she was the heart of that kitchen and i saw her there for years. we went to the Porch several times THIS summer and did not see Jesse on site. rather, very nice and well-meaning college-aged kids now make up the staff. and while they are very friendly, they are not baristas, kitchen staff, cooks, or really what will make a cafe stand out in a meaningful way. you can teach young staff to fulfill Starbucks recipes, in a fast food way sure. but at a small kitchen like the Porch, you need a really talented lead who will run a tight ship and get the line moving. these days, the pace is frustratingly slow, the focus isn't there and the food isn't as good, even if some of the old recipes remain. the last straw, the last thing i ordered to-go, was their $12 (with tip) avocado toast. i was really hungry and planned to down it before our hike. but when i opened the to-go clam, i found an untoasted piece of stale bread with a messy sliced avocado and spinach leaves thrown on top and a drizzle of spicy mayo; no cohesiveness -- it was the worst thing i ate the entire weekend. it was a mess to eat. it was not crafted with any care. i mean, at least mash the dang avocadies bro! such a huge disappointment. as of now, Porch is no longer a required visit for us when in town. :( really hope they find adequate staff who can provide outstanding food and customer service like they had in the past. i'm holding out hope. read more

I tried one of their specialty iced lattes - the brambleberry latte with oatmilk which was smooth and tasty. For food, my husband had the breakfast sandwich which is a bagel sandwich with egg, bacon, spinach, and Swiss cheese - the chipotle sauce was a bit overwhelming, but the sandwich was pretty good. Came in to this place because I wanted a cup of coffee and ended up with a small meal. Staff was friendly and they had reasonable amount of options. The avocado toast was not bad - nothing about it stood out but overall it was good and the avocado was nice and ripe. The breakfast sandwich was also not bad, it came out warm not hot but the ingredients were fresh. The bagel itself was fresh as well. Overall the food was fine but nothing really unique. If you want any condiments besides a mini bottle of Tabasco sauce - no luck. They did have crepes and we didn't try those so they might be the winner? Need a few more tweaks before this would be a go to for food.... Now the coffee was a different story, the coffee had good flavor and was hot. I would come back for that and it elevated them from three to four stars for sure. Options were good for bakery items, especially if you have some sort of diet restrictions you can definitively find something to munch on. And everything comes out looking pretty (good presentation). Overall it's cute - and all the different options keep it at four stars. For pricing it's about average for places that are following the coffee shop, specialty trend. We came here because we saw the breakfast sandwich on Yelp and also wanted coffee. First things first...THE DECOR. The inside was completely country rustic. Southern and so absolutely cute. They have a long sitting area and a big open area by where you order. All of the food is made fresh. They have pastries and sweets but also a few savory breakfast items. Not a large menu. They have a lot of coffee flavors as well. I had the PSL with Carmel and almond milk and it was delicious. One of the best coffees I've had outside of Seattle in awhile. It was warm and frothy, had a sweet tinge but also had a wonderful coffee flavor. My husband had the Carmel frap and loved it. Their largest size is a 16oz, which is the only sad part. We each had a breakfast sandwich. We got lucky and got the last 2 bagels of the morning, a jalapeño cheddar and an onion. We split them down the middle. Each had an egg, spinach, cheese, bacon, and a chipotle sauce. They were crispy and warm and everything was made to order. They were delicious. Probably would get without the spinach next time or on the side but still good. We also had a pumpkin cookie, AMAZING. So soft and buttery, melted in your mouth. We also had the Italian style sugar cookie which was also delicious, it was a large chunky cookie with frosting and sprinkles on top. I love the atmosphere here, people studying, having meetings and just kicking back. There are lots of different places to sit, the staff are always pleasant and they have fresh baked goods, mostly baked right there. On this trip I had an oat chocolate chip bar and the Protein punch smoothie which has almond milk, banana, peanut butter, protein powder, cacao nibs and cacao, it was very good, thick and filling. I stopped by The Porch while visiting from Phoenix. The first thing to notice is the venue itself. It is the most spacious and beautiful coffee shop I have ever been too. There is the iconic "The Porch" sign that sits above a swing chair (which is perfect for photos). Second was the quality and taste of the food and drink menu. Everything that I have tried so far has been amazing! Third and most importantly, customer service. Jesse (the owner) and his staff are super friendly and personable. This is an easy to miss hidden gem. The non descript white building and behind the building parking hide a beautiful massive coffee shop. Park in the back, enter from the back door, side door or front sidewalk. Excellent menu has some unexpected items like a Vanilla Coconut Collagen Latte and hot items like quiche. Seating is massive and varies from typical tables to cozy chairs to a swing hanging from the rafters. The decor is beautiful and comforting.
