The hostess and first server that helped us (a male) were both unfriendly. To the point that we almost left! Which we've never done. However 2 other servers ended up being good and that's who served us subsequently. The chorizo was not enjoyable at all. We did enjoy the 3 sliders but wished they had a lot less sauce so as to be able to taste the protein. The cauliflower had too much breading and was very oily. I don't remember the other 2 dishes we got but there was nothing that impressed us honestly. Edible but I'm sure other tapas restaurants would be a better choice. read more

We had a great time here. The gin cocktail I got was great (it had egg white, raspberry and lemon). The wine my partner got was good as well. The fried cheese with honey was good if not overly flavorful and made for some epic cheese pulls The shared croquetas sampler was delicious-- I was a huge fan of all the croquetas except the chicken and chorizo one, but I would have ordered the platter again just to taste the other 3. The BBQ pork ribs were good, but a little too saucey for my liking. The salad with goat cheese was delicious. The vanilla ice cream with sherry and almonds hit the spot-- loved the taste of the ice cream and sherry in the same bite. I could have skipped the burger-- meat here tastes different in the U.S. and I'm not a fan of the taste, but that's not the restaurant's fault. Service was very nice and helpful. The bill was shockingly cheap for how much food and drink we got ($50 euros). I think one thing we're getting used to in Ireland vs. the US is servers not coming over to you as much-- we definitely waited too long before having a chance to ask for the check, but I definitely enjoyed the meal and would come back in a heartbeat. read more

I like tapas style restaurant. When I walked by here and so the word "Pintxo", it brought me back really good memory of nice food I had before. Pintxo is tapas food from Basque region (northern Spain). I generally like French food as well as Portuguese food. Nice mix of seafood and meat served with bread always go well with nice glass of wine from the region. This place was no exception. I don't think I ever had bad pintxo before anywhere. My favorite plate here was Foie Gras. It could be overwhelming but the amount of foie gras served was just right, it went well with a glass of wine I had. If you are hungry or just want to have a small bite, this is a perfect place. So close to the Temple Bar, just swing by for a quick bite to eat and enjoy their food and drink. Made it to this place about 1 1/2 years ago and loved it! Despite the dark and candlelight, I appreciated the warmth of the setting. I came with my boyfriend for New Year's Eve dinner. He, being Spanish, jumped for joy when tasting the dishes; he was definitely pleased at the authenticity. Even though, we were in Dublin for short and did not want to repeat experiences; we did, however, try to come back to Bar Pintxos. Updating my review as I feel that, while this is still a good place for tapas, some recent changes to menu and service don't justify a very high review. The menus changed a bit, in my opinion not for the best. There's fewer options of good wine by the glass and items such as Boquerones are all but gone. Other slight changes have occurred on the remaining dishes, like less bread being served with the cheese and smoked meats platters, which is simply unfair since that is the way to eat and appreciate those. Also, there's something different with the churros dough, definitely not as good as I've had here before. Service became more sparse and a bit chaotic too, even if the waiters are themselves pleasant and helpful when they finally get to you. Still a nice enough spot to enjoy good company and share tasty food, very conveniently located in Temple Bar. read more

I read few days ago that to get a Michelin Star the only thing that have to impress in your local is the food, the presentation, the service, the decoration are not important for the assessment. The day I was there only a waitress was available, slow service, reheated food and not especially tasty. They served pork cheeks (reheated, too weak a bit bitter), paella (cool, only rice with some vegetables) and pisto with cheese (peppers with onion and tomatoes) that I couldn't eat at all. I only liked the prawns, the only thing fresh done. The venue is nice, but as I started this review, a restaurant is about food, not about decoration. While you might consider bringing a torch - Pintxos relies heavily on candlelight - you will definitely enjoy yourself in this atmospheric Spanish tapas bar. The little dishes are delicious - my favourites include the patatas bravas (cubed fried potatoes, but don't they sound much healthier in Spanish?), the meat and bread selection and the chorizo al vino. The tables are close together, so try to sit beside a couple who look like they are on the verge of breaking up - it enlivens things no end. Make sure to feel your way cautiously to the fabulous bathroom, which is done up like a fabulous bordello. One note of caution, all that decadent candlelight means that it's hard to see just how much wine/food you are actually ingesting, so you may just have to be rolled out. read more

We were offered to go somewhere else to drink and they took our phone number to call us later to let us know when our tables were ready. There are seating areas upstairs and downstairs. When we got there we were quickly seated. The servers were very prompt and friendly. The food was delicious and definitely small bites. It's recommended to get to 2or3 dishes when ordering initially as you can always order more as you go. I had lovely tender, calamari with a lovely fresh aioli, beautifully fried white bait fish, and spicy peri peri fried chicken wings. I requested extra aioli mayonnaise for my chicken wings to help cut the heat. Lots of nice wines. Request bread on the side to sop up the lovely sauces that's in most of your tapas. The bathroom is quite unique. But a little too much material of leathers and cloth around a pvt throne area. Blech! There were 7 of us. Most dishes are priced reasonably between 5 - 10 €. Can't figure out why its only got 3.5 stars average. We came by at 3:30 after walking around Dublin all day. They have a great wine selection and offered several tastes till we settled on their staff favorite sauvignon blanc. Ordered 4 tapas, all were delicious (the ham croquettes were excellent, and the chorizo cooked in red wine was spectacular-especially with extra bread to sop up the sauce). We used to dine here regularly up until a year or so ago. Feeling nostalgic, we decided to go back and have some of the usual red and a cheese board. Our 'usual red' wasn't available any longer cause the restaurant had changed suppliers since. A bit lost, we were offered two similar ones to taste before we ordered. We also ordered a cheeseboard which took a while to prepare although only 4 other tables were taken. When it finally arrived, it was half the size as it used to be (for the same prize mind you) , no quince jelly, no soft cheeses, only a few crackers. So not worth the money! As we were still hungry, we decided to order churros as well. My friend asked for extra cream with them which we didn't get but they did manage to overcook the churros. Love this place! have gone back several times to make sure and tried both salamancas and neither compare to this place. the pintxos are divine. My boyfriend and I ordered the mixed kind of platter with a little steak pepito, foie gras, delicious mushroom with garlic butter that soaked down into the bread when you sliced in... that was just 3 of 5 i think. also thoroughly recommend the brochettas. the chicken is beautifully marinaded and melts in your mouth. Most importantly, a litre of wine is 24 euro! Pintxos is cosy, comfortable and good for conversation. Its dark and atmospheric with an authentic feel - lots of candles so romantic also i suppose. The staff are lovely, except one guy I call Lurch who is a bit comical in his rudeness. On my first visit, a group of northern Spaniards were at the table next to me and gave their seal of approval. The toilets are worth seeing, reminded me of Robert De Niro in Angel Heart...also worth seeing. read more

I like this place. A nice big selection of good Spanish wines; plenty-good-but-not-stellar tapas; enough for vegetarians, and probably even vegans if I were being strict. The server Monday night didn't seem to be that knowledgeable about the wines, but, apparently eager to please, offered me a small taste of two options I was considering, which made up it. Patio seating out back, sheltered from the Irish weather, with heat vents, even -- which are a nice touch unless you're seated on the right-hand wall, directly across from them, so they're blowing hot air straight in your face. I've had several delicious meals at Pintxos. You can order tapas as you go, and slowly enjoy your wine (especially the 2007 Vallado Duoro). There's no rushing in this place! I have generally ordered three tapas and that's quite enough for a full meal, without room for dessert. The ambiance is a bit dark, but candlelit, which creates quite a mellow mood. The coed bathroom is one of the most amazing I've ever seen - the words "throne" and "goth" and "Elvis" all come to mind. In fact, I'd recommend the place simply to see the bathroom! The service is attentive without being aggressive, and I heartily recommend trying out Pintxos. read more

One of the few restaurants worth going to in Temple Bar - food is reasonably priced and very tasty, quite a selection of tapas but not too daunting! Wine is around €25 by the bottle, the Verdelho being an excellent option if you are choosing the spicy dishes. Getting seated here is quite a bit easier than its counterpart in South William St as they have quite a bit more space here. Personally I like the seats in the courtyard which has a great ambience with people chatting and some music seeping in from the main room. Our go-to place for tapas in Dublin! read more

Great Tapas! We had a late huge lunch so we were walking around Dublin looking for something small to eat. It was 10pm so the only places were in the Temple Bar area. We had eaten at another location of The Port House earlier in the week so when we passed this location we knew it would be the perfect choice. The candlelit atmosphere was cozy and comfortable. We were careful to make different selections than we ate the first time as it was the same menu as their other location. We had Paella de Pollo and Tortilla Espanola. The Tortilla Espanola was a potato and onion omelet. The Paella de Pollo was a traditional Spanish dish with rice and chicken. Every thing was delicious. I'm now addicted to Spanish Tapas! read more

Have been here several times, and as I think I mentioned elsewhere, also to the sister restaurant (Port House). For some reason forgot to include a review - so briefly - here goes. It shares with the Port House the slightly "dark" theme internally (as in, not loads of light, as opposed to sombre :-). Could be off putting for some, but I like it. Menu is pretty good, with a nice range of hot and cold tapas, as well as "pintxos" - the little snacks that are typically served from the counter and are often on bread. I really like the "Standards" - such as whitebait, chorizo-in-red-wine, anything fish related, and of course, patatas bravas. All reasonably priced as well. You (well I) have a tendency to try and order too much - but now after several visits I seem to have got the dimensioning about right - perhaps 6-7 items between two seems about right. Wine list is good, and the staff very helpful on choosing, if you're not used to Spanish wines. Really like the atmosphere in here, whether dining for two or with a larger gang. It's just very well executed casual dining that won't break the bank. read more

Did a brilliant job of getting tapas terribly, terribly wrong. I went in there willing myself to like it - it always looks so cool whenever I walk past, but unfortunately everything was pretty poor. Myself and the girlfirend had around 30e worth of food to share, and nothing too complex (meatballs, chicken, patatas bravas etc), but all of it was nearly inedible. Meatballs MUST be from a can, as another yelper pointed out - horrible squishy things bathed in what must have been tesco value ketchup. Rest of the stuff was greasy and had that "eddie-rockets-sink-to-the-bottom-of-your-stomach-immediately" effect...which is fine when you stumble into eddie rockets after a night on the sauce, but not in a place like this!! We complained, waiter was suitably rude and blamed us for "not liking things" (WHAT?!), manager was very helpful to his credit and offered us a halfprice refund - which we gratefully accepted. Didn't even have the delicious pagoa basque beer in stock - oh dear. Reading through these reviews, maybe I just got really unlucky, but my experience has soured my view enough to not want to go back. read more

I've never been to a tapas restaurant before, but the girls and I came here for a night out to catch up with each other and it was a blast. I ordered one mushroom tapa which came as a large portobello mushroom with some garlic seasoning on top. I kind of expected more, especially since I was paying around €4 for a plate, but it turned out to be a bit of a disappointment. Luckily I wasn't took hungry and was only there for the company. The service to order was slow as well. I'm not sure if it's because we were seated near the window and the space is a bit cramped, but it took a while to get the orders in as well as receiving our bill for the night. The manager was very friendly towards the end of our meal and had no reservations on splitting our bill, which I thought was nice. But for a restaurant's only highlight being the friendly manager, that's not a good sign. Not to mention, the restrooms are absolutely dreadful. The restrooms wreak of urine and are kind of trippy in the low-lit secluded area downstairs. When I went, I was the only one and I have to admit I was kind of lost because it took me a good few seconds to realize where the women's toilets ended and where the men's began; turns out they just share a row of sink basins. It must be the lighting and mirrored stalls! I honestly don't see myself coming back here because "Meh. I've experienced better." read more

The place is really cool, the atmosphere and the decoration are incredible but maybe the service wasn't the best because there were only one waitress for the whole place, the food was ok, the paella was not even a real Spanish paella and we did not like it at all.
