A really attractive space in downtown Ada. I stopped in for lunch today and decided to try the Deviled Eggs and the Tavern Smash Burger. I had heard that this place had good food, but because the price point was a bit higher than average, I wanted to try it for myself before bringing my family. The service was attentive and friendly. The food, however, did not meet expectations. I found the deviled eggs to be overcooked and a bit rubbery while simultaneously lacking flavor. The presentation was nice but I care more about the taste than how it looks. The Tavern Smash Burger does not seem to know what it wants to be. The patties were thicker than a traditional smash burger, lacking the juiciness of a regular burger while also missing the caramelization of your typical smash patty. The accompanying "Chef's Sauce" for the burger was not particularly flavorful and there was not enough acidic content to counter the fattiness of the burger. The bacon that topped the burger was cubed pieces that were chewy and frankly off-putting, and I found myself wishing for crispy bacon strips instead. All in all, I really wanted to love this place, but I just don't. The food wasn't terrible, but also nowhere near good enough to justify the cost or make me want to stop back in. read more

the ambiance is fine - not too loud in there - and despite being called a tavern it feels like a nicer sit down restaurant our server didn't seem too attentive though / slow in bringing out silverware and also not that friendly lemon pepper chicken: the pepper was in the salt shaker btw (which usually should have one hole) - i tried to put pepper on my lemon chicken and ended up putting salt. but honestly, neither salt or pepper would have salvaged this terrible dish. the chicken was tender but the flavor was awful. no hint of lemon or pepper anywhere. what is this weird cornstarch-y sweet sauce? and why is it that all the veggies are overcooked?!! just mush :((( but again the sauce.. was really awful in this and i didn't want to eat but i also didn't want to go hungry so reluctantly ate it. butternut squash soup: the squash soup was alright / just very ginger-y and a bit on the sweeter side for my taste. spicy pineapple n/a drink: the drink felt a bit watered down. i don't feel the need to go back here again. oh and the food came out pretty slow! read more

Great spot for a drink, a meal, a nightcap, or just to sit and balance your checkbook. Only who has checkbooks anymore, so you're probably checking your FanDuels. Fine. Service is prompt, and the bartenders know their shizz. If you want Grey Goose you can have it. If well liquor suits you, there's no snobby pushback. Just settle in and sip what does you. Check out the nightly meal specials. The Wednesday night braised short ribs and the wedge salad (get the full, it's beautiful) are winners. Love the ambiance. A beautiful and delicious option in Ada! Reservations recommended or can try the bar seating. Host stand is near the back hotel entrance by the end of the bar. The Mediterranean Bowl with Salmon was perfectly cooked. I could just sit at the bar and drink the coffee :) I went to the restroom and came back to my coffee gone. What a beautiful spot! The Post Tavern is located inside of The Ada Hotel on the first floor. I made a reservation on Opentable and we arrived around 4pm. It wasn't terribly busy but being our first time I'm glad I had a reservation. The drink menu was impressive and I enjoyed The Dirty Grand. For an appetizer we ordered the Deviled eggs. They were creamy and well balanced! We gobbled these down a little too fast. For entrees, my bf ordered the open faced chicken club which he really enjoyed. If anything, the portion was so huge he was not sure where to start but he said it was really good. I ordered the Tavern burger and loved the burger sauce and cheese ratio. Very juicy and flavorful. The handcut fries that came with both are meals were splendid. Perfect amount of salt and loved that we had plenty of ketchup. Our server was very kind and attentive! We were finally able to grab a reservation for dinner at The Post Tavern! This is the restaurant on the street level of The Ada Hotel. The lobby was an absolute madhouse because of some high school dances and everyone using the new space for pictures and dinner. We made our way through the crowd to find the hostess stand and she immediately sat us. Our service was very friendly and professional through our entire meal. The menu is rather small but the portions are large and we really enjoyed each dish we ordered. We started with the beer cheese dip that comes with large potato wedges. This was delicious and unlike any other beer cheese dip I have had. We then shared the Ahi Tuna and Fish and Chips. The wasabi mashed potatoes were delicious and the ahi tuna was the size of a small steak. The fish and chips were cooked perfectly and the fries were crispy. We ended our meal with the NY Cheesecake which was a seasonal red velvet. Overall, great modern atmosphere that feels more like a high end bar in a big city than Ada. The prices seemed fair, portions were large, dining room was spotless, and the service was friendly. Make sure you make a reservation! read more

I really enjoyed my experience there yesterday. I had the tuna melt with squash bisque. Both were delicious. The cheese on my sandwich could have been melted a smidge longer. The interior was nice and modern, and the service seemed quick. My boyfriend enjoyed his fish and chips--said that the batter wasn't too thick. I had the blackberry margarita. It was ok. my partner made a reservation for us to get drinks - we're vegan and there didn't seem to be too many options for us on the regular menu. to our surprise though, the valentine's day special menu did have some vegan options. they had 4 mocktail options and a few NA beer cans. the mocktails had NA spirits in them which was cool. for food we got the roasted cauliflower which was served in a yogurt sauce with raisins. i liked the flavor of the yogurt sauce. the raisins and chives complemented the other flavors well. the dish did really need some salt though and it was pretty cold when we got it. from the valentine's special menu, we ordered the grilled portabella mushrooms served over a carrot puree with brussel sprouts and chimichuri. the mushrooms were so good. they were perfectly flavored and to my surprise i really enjoyed the carrot puree as well. the mushrooms were definitely the star of this meal. for dessert, we had a vegan chocolate mouse served with chocolate covered strawberries from the special menu - a vegan dessert option always impresses me. our server was very nice and i enjoyed the overall vibe of the space. will we be back? most likely no. the regular menu only had one vegan dish (the cauliflower). i'd love to see at least one vegan entree on the regular menu. read more

I don't offer 5 stars often, but the Ada Hotel/Post Tavern gets one here. The restaurant on the main floor has a nice feel. Relaxed. Comfortable. The feel of the restaurant was perfect. 80% filled the night we were here. Nice balance of privacy and a hopping restaurant. Staff was excellent. Answered questions. Attentive. Accommodating. Checked with kitchen on a few items. Even answered questions on the limited wine list. The meal was excellent. Steak, lobster, burger all perfect. We'd come back for each of these entrees. Nice work kitchen. Area of improvement? Wine list. While we appreciate all 3900 whiskey options, it would be nice if there was more than one cabernet sauvignon offerings. Let's add to that dry red list! A bit disappointing to order a ribeye and only have one red dry on the listl Next visit we might try to space on the 3rd floor. Another neat option. Food was exceptional. Had two beautiful glasses of wine. I love the kitchen is open late enough for those that work till 8 most nights. Our bartender was amazing. Very helpful and attentive. We had a great Friday night dinner. Great cocktail menu. Highly rate the gin blossom, Irish coffee!, and espresso martini. We really enjoyed the chowder and roasted cauliflower starters. The chowder was a server reco and very good (and I'm not a big chowder person). Fish and chips were tasty-walleye and fries with a good tarter aioli and slaw. My husband enjoy his lobster roll. On an impulse, we stopped in for an appetizer and drink. The atmosphere is great. Calm and beautiful. We sat at the bar and the staff were friendly and great to talk with. For drinks we had a pearskin & powder and a martini. As our shared appetizer we have a kale Caesar salad with crab cakes. It was so good! We just stopped in on a whim to see how the food was. The wait was over an hour but some seats at the bar opened up. The bar service was great and they were very busy. I got the Shepherds Pie. It was not the tradition way it is served but it was amazing. The lamb bits were so tender and tasty and the mashed potatoes were to die for. So sorry I didn't take a pic but we are going back tonight and I think I will get it again. My guy got the Lasagna and it was also very good. It was a huge portion. Took my team for lunch. The staff was very attentive and accommodating as we had a large number. The ambience with amazing, it's a beautiful restaurant. The food was a little less desired. Was considerably bland. We had deviled eggs or the appetizer and they were not good. Definitely needs more seasoning and zest. My salad did not seem fresh and had wilted lettuce and was drowned and too much dressing. The Ahi tuna plate was considerably undercooked, and the IPA fish and chips were overcooked. Most of my team left more than half of their food on their plates. Additionally, the menu needs more dietary options, such as vegetarian and gluten-free, and it's to list the nutritional facts so people can make appropriate choices for themselves. Overall, it was a decent experience because of the staff was so friendly. I wanted to like this place, but the food was just not very appetizing. read more

For a relatively new restaurant, they have worked out any bugs they may have had upon opening. It is a large open space, so you never feel cramped and our table for four was huge. I hate it when the table is so small you are constantly rearranging your plates, glasses, etc. Our server was Jennifer and she was very attentive. Never had to flag her down, she was always checking on us at just the right time. They have a good offering of whiskies. The four of us had a variety of their menu and everyone was pleased. Very happy to see this addition to the Ada Village. We made a reservation over the phone and they were very timely seating us. You can use OpenTable to reserve which is nice. The decor is beautiful and they have a mix of indoor and outdoor seating. The drinks took a bit longer which was understandable as they are new. The cocktails were perfectly crafted and delicious. The food was good. Nothing left us "wow'ed" and wanting more. Our table had 2 steaks cooked at different temps (medium-well and medium) and unfortunately one ended up being rare. We did let the server know for next time, and she was apologetic but no offer to comp the check at all which we thought was unusual. We had a birthday girl so they gave us a choice of dessert on the house (very kind of them), and we chose the blueberry lemon cheesecake which was perfection. The food and service were great, but we came because someone had purchased us two $20 drink vouchers, and the vouchers could only be used on one drink each, and the balance could not be used in any other way. The highest priced drinks available are approximately $15. You cannot use the unused balance on another drink or food. The restaurant just pockets it. Very unfair for the person who purchased the voucher. read more
