The manager did give us at no charge the grease and oil needed to do the job. You just have to not assume that the job is done right, in today's world, you can't take anyone at their word and double check your own equipment. Nice people but hard to find reliable workers.

I told them to shove it, and went across the street to tractor supply and got a REAL kohler brand fuel filter. Screw this place! I love my mower! But except nothing from this company! I have this small old Stihl 015 L that my dad used for limbing & cutting small trees that I wanted a case for & extra chain. I did a preliminary search on the Internet for a case & chain, and thought I'd just go into a Stihl dealer to see what they have, besides figuring they would know the proper chain to fit on it. Found these guys from a search on the Internet so took the saw in, and as I walked thru their door I felt like I stepped back into time, back when customer service was not just lip service. This was the first time ever I stepped into this store but the guy at the counter greeted me like a regular with a pleasant greeting & opened the door behind him to the saw shop saying they would take care of me. One of the staff came right up to me & asked me to set my chainsaw on the counter covered with cardboard to absorb any oil & dirt and asked what I needed. I didn't think anyone would have a case for such an old saw, but they had a bunch of used cases & thought they would find one and they did, and offered it for $20, where eBay had a seller wanting $69 plus $50 shipping for a fairly scuffed & well used case. We started talking about chains and the young person helping me warned me the older saws have fairly expensive chains but gave a price for 2 then said he might have some used ones they sharpen & resell. He found one but had to shorten it, separated one of the links before he realized the chain was a 3rd party chain & he wasn't sure if they had a master link to reconnect everything, but did a little scrounging & a little elbow grease & oomph to make it work & we had an affordable spare chain for my saw. Also needed a wrench and I walked away with exactly what I went there for, probably would not have happened with one of the big box stores. Shopping lately has been quite a downer and here is a store like many other industrial stores in Lewis & Grays Harbor county still providing great local service, just ask some of the locals & they will tell you where to shop. People complain of how expensive things are, including name brands with a great reputation like Stihl, but I'll tell you, treat your expensive equipment good & develop a relationship with a good repair shop like Service Saw, and you'll get lots of miles & dependability on these products.

I was told, "A tune-up includes a carburetor cleaning and other parts that will resolve the surging issue." I was instructed to drop the unit off on Friday, 3/27/2026. Day 1: I dropped off the mower and was reminded that the repair would take approximately two weeks. Day 14: Two weeks having passed, I called for a status update. The business told me, "The technician will call you before the end of the day." No callback was received. (Missed Callback #1) Day 16: I called again and received the exact same response: "The technician will call you before the end of the day." Again, I received no callback. (Missed Callback #2) Day 20: I called again to insist on an update. I finally received a return call from a technician who stated, "We performed the tune-up, but it is still surging. I will look into it further." Day 24: I called for a timeframe. The technician informed me, "Your lawn mower is next on the list." Day 29: I called yet again. The technician replied, "It's lucky that you called; I'm going to look at yours today!" Day 31: I called once more, only to be told, "Still working on your unit." At this point, my wife and I decided to cut our losses and bring the unit home. I asked for the final price so I could pick it up. The technician stated, "I don't have the price in front of me; I will call you back." As expected, I never received a call. (Missed Callback #3) Day 32: The technician finally called back, claiming, "I found your issue; it will be ready for pickup soon." When I arrived, the business charged me for the tune-up plus extra labor. Day 33: I started the mower at home. Within five minutes of operation, the unit began surging again. The business was closed for the weekend. Day 34: I was very lucky and found a local handyman. He took about one hour to clean the carburetor, after which the unit ran perfectly without surging. Summary: This business held my mower for over a month and failed to fix it. A local handyman resolved the issue in a single hour by performing the very task--cleaning the carburetor--that the shop claimed was part of their initial "tune-up."

They just rolled it into my garage. My warehouse is directly across the street from my house, on the same route back to their shop. I offered to grab a piece of paper, write and sign a waiver releasing them of any liability, and even offered one hundred dollars for the quick drop off. The crew told me it was an insurance issue, but when I spoke to the owner, he said it was not insurance. It was simply policy. He was matter of fact and showed no interest in helping or even listening. They were perfectly willing to take my old refrigerator six miles away to their warehouse and deal with it there, but when it came to dropping it off at my warehouse, right across the street from my house and directly on their route, suddenly it was a problem. I tried to reason with the owner, explaining how simple it would be, but he just was not hearing me. I was the last delivery of the day, and it would have taken no more than two minutes. We spent more time standing there talking about it than it would have taken to make it happen. So instead, they left it sitting in my garage, where it has stayed ever since. Every time I open that middle garage door and see it sitting there, I am reminded that it could have been in my warehouse where it belongs. It takes up space and serves as a daily reminder of how this business handled a simple, reasonable request. That decision cost them the sale of the oven and microwave I bought elsewhere, and probably more through word of mouth. They lost a loyal customer, and for what? Two minutes of time. It is his business, and he can run it how he wants. I respect that. But common sense went right out the window. This was never about insurance. It was about policy and a lack of flexibility. The owner's public response did nothing to change that impression. I am keeping this at one star because his reply only confirmed my experience. Instead of owning the situation or acknowledging what really happened, he repeated an inaccurate story that does not reflect the facts. That response alone speaks volumes about how this business handles customer feedback. Sometimes the coldest thing in the room is not the refrigerator.
