I went last week for the first time, and back again yesterday since it was so good. Most farmer's markets I've been to in Phoenix are generally lame. Mainly because there are 50% or more booths that are selling things like jewelry, knick-knacks or other things that to me belong more at a craft show than a farmer's market. This one, however, is almost all food (the only booth I noticed, other than information, that wasn't food was a table for one of the stores in the plaza). Two or three produce vendors, depending on the week, farm fresh eggs, grass-fed beef, bbq sauce, cider, granola, tamales, etc. etc. My favorite though is the dairy guys with the fresh cheese curds. You'd think you were eating a mouse the way these things squeek! Definitely fresher than the ones at Trader Joes. I am a huge fan of this farmer's market, and am sure all be back plenty of times over the fall/winter. My only minor complaint is that they advertise as Arizona's only farmer's market under the stars...since I pretty sure that the Downtown Market goes on Wednesday night and there is a farmer's market now at Norterra (sucked...see above about non food vendors), it's not even remotely true. 4.9 stars, rounded up!

This farmers market is located at a large church and after seeing the variety of vendors it definitely was such a fun way to start the weekend. We arrived around 8:30 a.m. on Saturday morning and had no trouble finding parking, which was a great start. I loved the variety of products featured here! There were everything from groceries and fresh bread to eggs, jams, pickled foods, soaps, and more. I'd guess there were maybe 100-150 vendors total, with most of them set up outside. There was also a section inside the church with a few vendors selling ice cream, produce, and other perishables, and that area was air conditioned, which was very welcome since it was around 110 degrees outside. They also had restrooms available, which was convenient. I believe vendor hours are from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m., but because of the summer heat, my friend and I only stayed from about 8:30 to 10:00 a.m. Overall, I loved the variety of Arizona-based products and services and thought it was a really enjoyable market to visit.

So many amazing hand made items, from food made, to veggies grown, wood workers, hand sewn items (like myself). Of course the coffee and sourdough vendors! We came on Halloween and I was heating up in my costume so this cooled me down. It's opened on Saturdays from 9am to 2pm in September through May, and 8am to 11am in June to August. I was told all the chicken eggs sell within the first hour, so get there right at opening. It's located in the old Sears parking lot at the Arrowhead Mall. Bring your reusable bags, and have fun meeting all of the local vendors! My favorite were the goats, though they should definitely be given more space to run around. I also loved the Beal Beans couple, they were very friendly and knowledgeable about their roasts, and grinded their beans I bought from them for me since I don't have a grinder at home. But alas, this is a desert so take this review with that as context. This market is located in the parking of the park and takes approximately 10-12 spots on each side. The majority of the vendors were selling prepared food, merchandise and pet products with only 2-4 vegetable and produce stands. And those stands were limited to most of the basic veggies and fruits you would expect but at prices that were higher than some of their organic counterparts at your local supermarket. Translation - no real deals to be found and very few heirloom vegetables to try. I did buy some veggies and fruit from one of the larger stands at the end of the row, but other than that, there wasn't much to it. I do give them a bonus for being dog friendly. But if your dog isn't really chill, I would avoid this spot because the gallery is tight.

They've got an insane variety of vendors selling everything from fruits and veggies to dog treats, candles, pastries that'll make your taste buds do the happy dance, food, gift items, and a whole lot more. And the cherry on top? All the vendors were ridiculously friendly, dishing out samples and the lowdown on their products like they're sharing secrets with old pals. Plus, there's ample seating, a DJ spinning tunes, and more food vendors than you can shake a stick at. It's basically the ultimate Saturday morning chill zone, and your furry friend is invited too - just keep 'em on a leash, okay? The new location at the Chandler Gilbert Community College is basically an asphalt parking lot, which takes away the whole charm of the experience. We arrived, saw the no-dogs sign, and then saw that the market was set up on hot asphalt in the sun, so we turned around and left. That was especially frustrating after making the trip, since the old downtown location was so much more inviting and enjoyable. It is a shame they moved it from downtown Gilbert to a parking lot setting. The old location felt like a community event. This one just didn't.
