I went last week for the first time, and back again yesterday since it was so good. Most farmer's markets I've been to in Phoenix are generally lame. Mainly because there are 50% or more booths that are selling things like jewelry, knick-knacks or other things that to me belong more at a craft show than a farmer's market. This one, however, is almost all food (the only booth I noticed, other than information, that wasn't food was a table for one of the stores in the plaza). Two or three produce vendors, depending on the week, farm fresh eggs, grass-fed beef, bbq sauce, cider, granola, tamales, etc. etc. My favorite though is the dairy guys with the fresh cheese curds. You'd think you were eating a mouse the way these things squeek! Definitely fresher than the ones at Trader Joes. I am a huge fan of this farmer's market, and am sure all be back plenty of times over the fall/winter. My only minor complaint is that they advertise as Arizona's only farmer's market under the stars...since I pretty sure that the Downtown Market goes on Wednesday night and there is a farmer's market now at Norterra (sucked...see above about non food vendors), it's not even remotely true. 4.9 stars, rounded up!

So many amazing hand made items, from food made, to veggies grown, wood workers, hand sewn items (like myself). Of course the coffee and sourdough vendors! Can't get sourdough like this anywhere else! Follow get local on Facebook or Instagram as they have events during the week, as well as weekends! Great place to shop or just spend a morning walking around!

I bought local duck eggs, plenty of produce from multiple local farms, and locally roasted coffee here. We also enjoyed locally made all-natural sorbet, the coconut sorbet was the best! We came on Halloween and I was heating up in my costume so this cooled me down. It's opened on Saturdays from 9am to 2pm in September through May, and 8am to 11am in June to August. I was told all the chicken eggs sell within the first hour, so get there right at opening. It's located in the old Sears parking lot at the Arrowhead Mall. Bring your reusable bags, and have fun meeting all of the local vendors! My favorite were the goats, though they should definitely be given more space to run around. I also loved the Beal Beans couple, they were very friendly and knowledgeable about their roasts, and grinded their beans I bought from them for me since I don't have a grinder at home. I really tried to keep this review short but I couldn't - it was a very enjoyable farmers market!

Everything from jerky, to ground meat, to whole chickens, to organ meat, to salami, to pre-made pot roast you just pop in your oven (they were sampling the pot roast and it was easily the most tender and flavorful I've ever had). In addition to even more meat options, the farmers market vibe really kicks in with all the local vendor merchandise. Lots of different honey, sauces, etc. The woman working the shop was super friendly and very knowledgeable about everything in the cases. I felt like I had been welcomed to her table. We ended up just getting a pack of ground burger patties (we had leftover toppings and such from our 2yr old's birthday party the weekend before, so burgers were on the menu) - 3 patties, about 1/3lb each, under $10. Picked up a couple dollars worth of potatoes on the way home for oven fries and had the best burger dinner we had ever made! The flavor and quality of meat was so pronounced, and far better than anything you can find in a big box store. All I can say is, next time you're looking to put meat on your table, get over here!

Artisan soaps, candles, woodworking, and clothing are available. Live music and loads of parking. There is plenty of handicap parking and level service for walkers, wheelchairs, or strollers. Kids' games are available as well. Amadio Ranch is a local farm that brings small local businesses together - and that sells their own produce and products. Folks are welcome to come in, explore/view their harvests, and buy a treat. A West Valley Gem Packed with Flavor, Charm, and Plenty to Discover…read more If you've ever driven past that bright pink building on the corner of 101st and Grand Avenue in Sun City and wondered, "What's in there?" let me save you the suspense: it's the New York West Bakery, and it's absolutely worth pulling over for. In fact, I've made the hour-plus drive each way more than a dozen times just to visit. Whenever I find myself anywhere in the West Valley, this place is a mandatory stop. I've taken countless photos of my visits because there is always something new to see, taste, or admire. Under its new ownership, New York West Bakery has evolved into a wonderfully unique fusion-style café. The menu is delightfully unexpected, featuring everything from traditional breakfast favorites and homemade tamales to incredible Vietnamese Banh Mi sandwiches. If I can dig up some of my photos, I'll add them because these sandwiches deserve their own spotlight. The transformation isn't limited to the menu. The Interior: Spotlessly clean. During one recent visit, I watched an energetic staff member carefully mopping the floors and making sure everything looked perfect. It's obvious they take pride in the place. The Exterior: They've added a charming outdoor patio complete with colorful umbrellas, comfortable seating, and newly planted trees that will provide even more shade as they grow. It's a fantastic addition and makes for a relaxing place to enjoy a pastry and coffee. The Food: Where This Place Really Shines When New York West Bakery gets it right, they absolutely knock it out of the park. Their fruit tarts are hands-down some of the best I've had in years. They're fresh, beautiful, bursting with flavor, and surprisingly affordable for the quality you're getting. Best of all, everything is made from scratch, which shows in every bite. The newer savory menu items are also a huge win. Their Vietnamese Banh Mi sandwiches deliver serious value. They're enormous. Honestly, one sandwich is big enough to share and still leave you feeling satisfied... or at least leave just enough room for dessert. And speaking of dessert, I have to mention those fruit tarts one more time. They're that good. My wife Lucy absolutely loves them. In fact, "love" might be an understatement. If fruit tarts had a fan club, she'd probably be the president. New York West Bakery continues to grow and evolve, and it's exciting to watch. Between the friendly atmosphere, expanding menu, beautiful patio, and from scratch-made baked goods, it's become one of my favorite hidden gems in the Valley.

I love that they added outdoor seating with cheery umbrellas and have planted trees to provide additional ambiance and shade, although the highway noise will always be problematic. The inside is spotless and while I was there a friendly staffer was keeping it that way by energetically mopping. Sadly, the St. Joseph's pastry I had had a tough not flaky or crisp shell, but the ricotta filling was light and good. I was so looking forward to the poppy seed bread but when I got it home and cut into it, the filling was not spread out throughout the bread and there wasn't much of it. The bread itself was not tear apart tender, but dry. I saved it by slathering butter on it and lightly toasting it, but that shouldn't have been necessary. For the prices, everything should have been top notch or marked down and labeled as day-olds. I'm curious about the breakfast and lunch café options, so I'll probably go back to give them a try, but note that the prices have increased by more than a few cents per item since the 2025 someone else posted, so check for the latest. Maybe they are trying to do too much and should limit the variety and be known for a few super delicious items that are always fresh and superior to what you could get in a supermarket. Having a few signature items and being the go-to place during special holidays would help define them, and please, please FRESHNESS is crucial--maybe the products are just drying out more because we're in AZ, but I'm not the only one mentioning dried out items.
