Latte at Prickly Palm, Cedar Key
    Bruce K.

I put off having my first coffee until I arrived in Cedar Key so that I could enjoy it here at Prickly Palm. They're currently serving out of a food truck trailer but on a warm spring morning, it was lovely to sit under the covered "patio" and sip at my latte while I planned my exploration of the area. Fabulous coffee, friendly service and quick. The breakfast sandies look terrific - but not for me on my low carb diet. There's street parking nearby. Enjoy! This place was delicious and adorable! Unfortunately, their brick and mortar building took a big hit during hurricane Helene and they are in the process of rebuilding. Please support the local businesses if you are in the area. Everyone was so friendly and the food and coffee was delicious! Service was made to order and they got busy right after we walked up so it took maybe 10 mins to get our food but it was so beautiful outside and several tables were open that we didn't mind. The honey cinnamon oat latte was delicious!

This is a cute little establishment that was very close to the house we stayed at on second street. It was fairly busy on a Sunday morning but the wait for two smoothies wasn't too bad. We got the Cedar Key Sunrise (orange juice, strawberries, banana, pineapple, mango) and the Rosey Spoonbill (strawberries, coconut, pineapple, banana, coconut milk, white chocolate) smoothies. The smoothies were good, but they did not really wow us. They both tasted like something we could've made it home. Service was very pleasant and the shop was cute. It was a nice place to stop by in Cedar Key.

This is the tiniest cutest girliest island coffee & tea shop on the planet. The place to go when you are on Cedar Key. I want to secretly run away from home & buy this business just so I can hang out here every day, for the rest of my days. Love you, "Isla de pina" forever mine. See you again soon. xoxo

I am OBSESSED. Saw this place on tiktok when we were planning a trip to cedar key and this was one of the first places we went after getting to town!!!! The food and coffee were so amazing. Cannot WAIT to come back and try more things!!!

The absolute cutest coffee shop! Coming to Cedar Key I was little afraid of not being able to find a good coffee shop just because the island is so small. Well, I didn't need to worry at all, the Prickly Palm was all I could have asked for! I went almost every morning we were there. Everything from their matcha, to their lattes, to their pastries, to their breakfast sandwiches were delicious! I highly recommend this super cute spot!

Yelp has never done us dirty, but some of the places that have been recommended in FL have been a BIG disappointment, and for the life of me, I can't understand how they've gotten such great reviews for mediocre food. Enter, The Prickly Palm! Yelp said it was closed this morning when it was actually open, and we happened to drive through town before having breakfast and saw that it was indeed open, so we grabbed a bite to eat. The ambiance is sooooo cute. Instagram worthy for those of you who care. The two employees were warm and friendly, and the food was the best breakfast we've had in this entire state so far! Their açaí bowl was a generous portion and tasted so fresh--the best one my husband and I have ever had--even over ones we've had in Hawaii and Costa Rica. The coffee was also outstanding. My husband is very particular when it comes to his coffee and brought 3 bags on our road trip from the PNW. He's almost out and bought a bag from here to tide him over for our trip back. We hope to find ourselves in Cedar Key again in the future and will definitely make another stop here when we do return.

This place is so cute & has the best gift shop! The women that work here are so kind knowledge and helpful at assisting you with drink choices! It's our first stop in Cedar Key each time we visit! Smoothies are delicious!

The Prickly Palm is a very aesthetic cute coffee, smoothie, Açaí bowl, and boutique shop. I absolutely love it in there, not to mention the coffee is amazing! My favorite coffee drink is the Carmel Apple Macchiato and the chocolate muffins are very addictive :) This business is loved by the locals and I highly recommend a stop by if your visiting Cedar key!

Smoothies, açaí bowls, premade meals, the whole package. I walked in with expectations, which was my first mistake. The ordering area is extremely small. There's barely enough space to stand, let alone browse or get oriented. Instead of overhead menus, you're expected to quickly flip through laminated menus kept in bins, mark your order on a sheet with a marker, and hand it to the cashier. There are no visible menus for the premade meals at all. The setup feels rushed and unintuitive, especially for first-time customers. There is virtually no seating. The few available seats were occupied by employees during our visit, which made the space feel even less welcoming. Another customer walked in while we were there and appeared just as confused about how to order, and unfortunately didn't receive much guidance. Functionality-wise, I'd rate the experience a 2/10. The space is overwhelming, poorly laid out, and not customer-friendly unless you already know the system. The food itself was good. The açaí bowl was a 7/10, but because ordering felt stressful, I didn't customize it and ordered it as-is, which I now regret. This café seems best suited for people who already frequent the gym next door and are familiar with the process. For anyone new, busy, or just stopping in casually, it's not an easy or comfortable experience. I truly wanted to love this place, and there's potential here, but the layout, lack of clear menus, and overall flow work against it.

Being attached to a fitness facility, they also have supplements, shirts, healthy meal prep, smoothies, etc. The staff/owners are wonderful. Not a great place to sit and work just as a heads up. There aren't really any outlets and only a few tables, but that's fine! Don't think thats the crowd they're catering to anyway. I will definitely stop by when I'm here visiting family or for work.

Their menu consists of a variety of protein milkshakes, smoothies, customizable açaí bowls, waffles, and churros, as well as different types of teas/energy drinks. They give you the option to choose your own toppings and drizzles for the acai bowls, waffles, and churros, which is cool! It is quite like nothing I've been to before, in the best way! The interior is welcoming and fun. With gator memorabilia, including signed jerseys. The service is excellent and so personable. The husband and wife team who own the eatery are the nicest people. They are so sweet and really go out of their way to make sure their customers are satisfied. My dad and I both ordered a protein Belgian waffle topped with strawberries and blueberries, with a honey drizzle. The ordering system is super simple. You just order and pay at the front and they will bring it to you when it is ready. They served us our waters, my dad's milk, and some cutlery while our food was being prepared. The food came out roughly 10-15 after we ordered. It was presented very nicely and aesthetically. The waffle was hands down the best protein waffle I've ever had. It was dense, thick, and fluffy, but didn't have an artificial protein taste to it at all. The fresh berries and honey on top were the perfect addition. I also appreciated the sugar free syrup and swirls of cool whip and the side. The meal was very filling and satiating as well. Overall, I was more than impressed with Gainzville Hub! It is a wonderful establishment in downtown Gainesville serving great protein packed options. The inside is unique and fun. Service was awesome, super friendly, and efficient. The food -- phenomenal! Absolutely loved my protein Belgian waffle and had nothing but rave things to say about it. I also really appreciate how connected they are with the community and the school. You can tell they really care about their guests and the people who come by! Cannot wait to stop by again and try more menu items!

They offer a variety of things including curated and signature bowls/salads, açaí bowls, smoothies, wraps, and some healthier treats. Their menu is quite extensive and they truly have something for everyone. Everything is also very customizable, which I appreciate! I didn't dine, but DoorDashed it instead. This was hassle free and not too expensive. I actually recommend going this route as you could save money through deals on those delivery apps. I will say, this food is slightly more expensive. But this is due to the quality of ingredients they use. I really love that they don't use seed oils and focus on using lots of whole foods. This is evident in the flavor of the food and the way you feel after eating it! I had to order their famous chicken caesar wrap. Their chicken caesar wrap includes lemon garlic chicken breast, lemon garlic kale, parmesan cheese, avocado slices, avocado caesar dressing, wrapped in either a white, spinach, or whole wheat tortilla that is pressed on a flattop. This was phenomenal and easily one of the best wraps I've had. It was huge and packed with ample amounts of chicken. The lemon garlic chicken was not dry at all and had great flavor. The lemon garlic kale accompanied the chicken perfectly and added a nice crunch. I appreciate them using kale as I felt like it didn't get soggy and the texture was nice in the wrap. The wrap also had a decent amount of sharp Parmesan which was just heavenly. The avocado was subtle, but added a creaminess to it. Then the avocado caesar dressing really ties everything together. I could go on and on about how good this wrap was. It was so balanced and there was just the amount of each ingredient in it, perfect lunch! I ended up getting a side of their kale & shaved brussel sprout salad as well, but didn't like this as much. The salad consisted of shredded kale, shaved brussel sprouts, carrots, cranberries, and maybe a nut of some sort (there isn't a description provided on their menu of this item). I was disappointed when there wasn't a dressing or something over it to bind everything together. With that being said, it was bland and not memorable. I think this would be better in a bowl as it's intended, not as a side! Overall, I was very impressed with Vale and they have easily become my favorite place to get a wrap from in Gainesville. I love that they focus on using healthy, high quality, whole foods, and avoid things like seed oils. It is evident in the flavor of their food. This does make the prices a bit higher, but you are really paying for what you get and I think the portions are worth it. My wrap my phenomenal and one of the best chicken caesar salad wraps I've had. The wrap was absolutely packed with chicken and had the perfect ratio of chicken to dressing to filling. It was a very filling meal and could easily be two servings. I will definitely need to come back and try some of their bowls as well, they truly have endless options to customize your own bowl. If you are looking for something healthier, filling, and delicious-- check this place out, you won't regret it!
