Soy cappuccino, chai latte and a chocolate stout cake (probably my fav cake from Project Cafe EVER! It's DELICIOUS)
    Sarah A.

I haven't been in Project for a long time (and I was quite a regular while studying), and so decided to go back to have some coffee and cake. They've changed the space a wee bit. The menu looks a bit more clear now and there's no more couch! Still like how comfy and homey it is. Now that the suns out, it'd be great to sit outside while having a cuppa tea or coffee! Unfortunately, I'm taking down a star because my recent visits have been a bit underwhelming. I don't remember the staff members being so grumpy/having such frowns on their faces! I can understand that you're tired (as we all are) but, I suppose a simple smile towards all your customers makes a difference, no? I don't like it when people look so miserable while welcoming guests to their cafe! Such a confused signal you're sending out! Also, I waited like 15 minutes for my caffe latte (because I knew the staff forgot about my order) and when she realized, there was no apology. Agree with Nicola's statement about how overly chilled out the place is. There should really be some sense of urgency when serving your customers! Anyway, regardless of the frowns and head-in-the-clouds, I still like this cafe. They still make good vegan food, cakes and coffee (albeit the coffee is on the stronger side). And it's true that it's overly chilled out place which I do love, but it can be both a good thing and a bad thing. Such a conflicting opinion but that's really how I feel haha

Lovely green tea by the wee tea company

Review Highlights - The Project Cafe

Food made fresh daily with local produce, great bakes (especially the scones!) and a great ethos for organic and fair trade ingredients.

The wine list is replete with moderately priced wines; honestly we would have been willing to pay more for a couple of even better alternatives, but I would not classify that as a complaint. Service was friendly and attentive and this restaurant is so eclectic and fun.

The wife ordered their "Fisherman" which is pan seared Scottish coley or pollock (for 27 GBP). The battered fish with the chips was more delicately done here and delicious. As an aside I tried several times to find a place here in Glasgow or in Edinburgh that did a "special" fish and chips, that is breaded with crumbs and not battered, but apparently no one does that healthier old school preparation anymore (and I need to inform my old work colleague who hailed from Glasgow and gave me this inside tip that it's not practiced anymore). I also had a Chieftain IPA. The side of peas were dryish and not flavorful and small portioned and not done as well and tasty as I have had in London or Perth, just saying. We also had their sticky toffee pudding with ice cream for dessert and that was good. The fries were mediocre. Server was friendly and attentive. 4 stars overall and a nice local flavor Glasgow outing.

The mood in the bar is chilled, with nice mood lighting, good tunes and board games and books to use at your leisure should you want. There's even a microwave which you can use if you bring in your own food to eat! The kitchen bar is open during club hours too, so if you don't feel like dancing you can head on in to the kitchen and chill and/or eat and/or drink and/or play some board games at 2am!! The club is just as unique. there's parts of old furniture attached to the walls, lots of subtle nods to "The Big Lebowski" everywhere and lots of places to sit. There is a big quirky bar with all the mod cons including that lovely vintage tv playing some obscure Japanese films, of course. There's a big no frills dance area, complete with a wardrobe in the middle of the floor to dance around. There's not much in the way of flashy flashy lights, instead they have projections bouncing about the venue providing lighting changes and blasts from the pasts in the way of old footage and stuff. I've seen people stop dancing to reminisce at what they are seeing on the big projection screens. There is a nice set of standard lamps around to supply extra lighting around the tabled ares too. There is space for fowk to dance and sit and mingle with out feeling like a club, even though it kinda is. Friday and saturday nights see a good varied selection of club nights from 90's themed ones with bingo to indie stuff to b-sides to rawk to funk and everything in between. Um Did I mention you you get free toast?! PS. Check out the toilets for years worth of funny graffiti, art and poetry!

Had the Goth ice cream which a black coconut ice cream With Jäegermeister syrup black sprinkles and wafer .Coconut creamy meets chocolate bitters and orange citrus . The syrup they use is sweet and thick and adds another dimensions of texture to this already complex up desert . Absolutely fabulous . I will definitely be back to try their buckfast shake . --- Came back the next day because I wanted to get their extremely limited goth dessert again which they were sold out of . Sad . But at least I had the chance to take advantage of their £4 Tuesday burger meal deal . I added caramelized onions for an extra pound but would recommend springing for the cheddar cheese or bacon for an extra £2 which is still a good deal ! As the the taste ? It's £4 burger with fries . No complaints ! As for the buckfast shake ...what an interesting concoction . It's strong ...I can only imagine what having straight buckfast would be like ..I'm glad my first time was in shake form as I'm sure the cream and milk toned down the alcohol and sharpness a lot . The overall flavor really grows on you . It reminds me of like a Neapolitan shake ( heavy on the chocolate and strawberry and no vanilla ice cream ) with a crap ton of added fermented strawberries and maraschino cherries and maraschino cherry syrup . If I was the chef I'd tweak this by adding a rum flambé banana slice or just banana in general would be so nice . I like this place a lot and would low key love to be a business partner or be able up a similar place in the States . Definitely a gem in Glasgow.

I could eat in this place every single night!…read more I am not sure I have enough words to cover how good this place is. Ok so here goes. For starters we ordered the platter, but only for one person which was plenty and the Salt and Pepper squid. I would recommend the salt and pepper dishes every time, they are that good! For mains we tried to do the whole lets share but when we both tasted our dishes we didn't want to give them up! We got a Braised Beef curry ( spicy!!) and Salt and Pepper scallops! Oooo mmmm geeeee! Nice! We also ordered 2 portions of rice, Which seemed to be more than enough. As we watched more people being served their food we noticed they seemed to be all doing the same thing which was ordering your own portion of rice and then sharing all the mains with veg as well. The only negative thing I would say (and I really don't want too) they don't have a great selection of beers that are local to their cuisine, so we both selected the tiger beer. I really want to mark this place higher than I can. 10 stars for me!

We recently popped in with some friends a couple of weeks ago - and I'm impressed. The refurb has worked wonders. It's managed to retain the friendly atmosphere it previously had, but now has a bit of style to go with its substance. As it's a traditional Malaysian restaurant, the tables are set with chopsticks. Ordinarily I have no issue using them, but I've a health issue that causes my hands to shake, so I asked for a fork. And I got this, delivered with quite a smirk. I'm not justifying in a restaurant why I needed a fork, but I wasn't particularly happy with being (innocently, I'm sure) belittled in this way. I had chicken satay skewers with peanut sauce to start with - really tasty, in a properly cooked, 'falling off the skewer ' kinda way. For main, I had kung po chicken and steamed rice. This was AMAZING! And much spicier than I had expected. Overall the staff were really attentive and the food was awesome. I'm knocking 2 stars off: one for the fork thing; and the second for only having one toilet (it gets really busy here).
