Won't be going here ever again. Took today off to take my pups in and stand outside trying to get ahold of them for 30 minutes. Next door neighbor buisness finally informed me they had a family emergency. I shouldn't find out from the buisness next door on the day of my appointment they should have canceled my appointment the moment they knew. Terrible place, and terribly unprofessional. read more

First off, they're accepting new and returning clients. In this time, that was a huge bonus. I called 4 other places and no one was taking any appointments! I believe this place is mother daughter owned and ran, and they're so nice! They got my golden retriever in and when there was a slight miscommunication, they took us back in and fixed things!' First time at the Proud Pooch. I called for an appointment to have my dachshunds nails trimmed. They were in dire need of cutting. The groomer I have relied on for over 7 years, put me off for over a week. Keep in mind, I was not requesting a full groom. Just nails which take less than 5 minutes. When I called the Proud Pooch, she made an appointment for about an hour away. What a relief there are still caring people in Grover Beach. I THINK I HAVE FOUND A NEW GROOMER. Thank you so much. I can't speak to many parts of grooming but my whippet was phobic about getting his nails done by me or anyone else. These ladies have been so patient wit him and so careful that he will now stand still and let them do all four paws, and even go back for a secod trim if a nails been left long. I rescued a black standard poodle from the SMVHS a few weeks ago. After waiting for her surgery site to heal, I called around to find a groomer. Danika at The Proud Pooch returned my call right away and we scheduled for the following Tues. When I brought in my Miss Marley she was a shaggy poodle. When I returned a few hours later...She was a BEAUTIFUL LADY! I was VERY pleased with the service I received and will definitely be returning for future trims. I elected for the puppy cut, clean face and trimmed pads. She was in at 9:30 and out at noon! read more

I have a Westie that likes to growl and snarl at everyone, even though he really wouldn't hurt or bite anyone. I couldn't find anyone who would groom him until I found the Proud Pooch. They are not intimidated by him and actually seem to enjoy him! Plus they do an amazing job at a very reasonable fee. They are great groomers, and, it is obvious they love animals! read more

My last review was four years ago, time to update.........still fabulous. I have been taking my three little ones to The Proud Pooch since 2009. Well the third actually was added five years ago and she is a bit of a problem, but Natalie and Danika are so patient with her. Our pets are our children and I wouldn't leave them with anyone I didn't completely trust. Over the past nine years, I have been a no show, (missed my appt), called and cancelled at the last minute, and been late, but these ladies are so good to me ALWAYS, and wonderful to my pets. I continue to recommend them and am so grateful to have them right here in Grover Beach. read more

I rescue dogs and they always come to me a mess, temperament and appearance. I've been to almost every groomer in the Five Cities area. Once I took one of my dogs to Proud Pooch, I've never considered going anywhere else. You can tell the people there love the dogs, treat them with patience and kindness, the dogs come back to me looking beautiful. The facility is clean and comfortable for the dogs, and the dogs are always calm and happy when I pick them up. It's an awesome place to take your dog. read more

Very disappointing... Had great reviews and now not so sure I will trust Yelp any more. My 1st call took about a week to get a call back. But the grooming was great! Called again for another grooming for my dog and no call 3 days now! DONE, doesn't matter how good you are you need to be good business people to and this you are not sorry! read more

I had taken my pet to Danika at least five times and always tipped over 20 %. After she had her baby I noticed my pet's appointments were rushed and I was being called to pick her up when there was no way she was provided with a full service during the time she was there and yet I was being charged for a full service. Upon my last appointment I dropped my pet off at 10.40 for a full service. I was called at 11.15 to report she was ready for pick up. My vet later confirmed her nails have not been clipped recently and I was extremely dissatisfied with her shave. She was clipped extremely short with no style. $50 for 35 minutes of shoddy work. I would not offer any return business to this groomer. read more

These women have no clue how to run a business. When I called to make an appt. they had written my phone number down wrong. I called again and left a message. No one got back to me I finally drove to the office and they were like, "Duh. What's the problem?" When I explained I had been trying to make an appointment for four days, they just looked blank. No apology! No concern whatsoever. Take your business elsewhere. These two are truly clueless. read more

We take our dog George there and they are very helpful and friendly. Its a small operation so it can be difficult to get appointments, but if you leave a message they typically get back to you within a day. They do good work and our dog always seems very happy. Never had any nicks or cuts, and George always gets a good through hair cut when he goes. read more

I just took my dog to The Proud Pooch for the first time yesterday. He is a rescue, was a stray, and after being part of our family for only a few months, is still working on becoming socialized. He can be aggressive with strangers due to fear. He strolled right into The Proud Pooch, and was immediately friendly and trusting with Danika, allowing her to pet him. This rarely happens with a new person. After his bath, his coat was glossy, and his tail wagging. He was in no hurry to leave. The staff at The Proud Pooch are excellent and my dog likes them. Their prices are reasonable as well. read more

I have gone to the proud pooch about three times. They were very nice and did a great job. Yes, I do usually call at the last minute and I have not had a small dog for very long and I'm unfamiliar with the area but they were very good about working her in and I appreciate that. I'm a Mother of 5 and have my own business, I'm busy too. However, this time I called and she told me they didn't have anything for a week. I explained that I would ask my mother-in-law to do it but if not I would call back and make an appointment. Next thing I know the phone rings back and I hear them talking in the background about how I always come in last minute and would like my dog done sooner than later and "Fuck that" IS what was said about me bringing my Yorkie there - they were even mentioned how my Mother in law only does Large Breeds. Then they went on to talk about what to wear to her cousin's wedding etc. I called back and talked to Danika and explained that they should hang up the phone and not call back when they want to talk about a client. She apologized, but acknowledged that I always come in last minute and they're busy. That's fine and I understand everyone gets frustrated with their business and is busy but maintain some proper etiquette. I have no problem taking my business elsewhere. read more
