My wife and I sat at the bar and ordered two Bourbons, "up" with a cherry. The bartender asked us what "up" was! We asked how long he'd been there... 11 years! Wow. He swished around a couple of shots in a steel mixing cup with ice and poured the bourbons into small glasses. $25.00 We got out of there and both said to each other: " This is an all-time low ". The wings are phenomenal, it's family owned and operated, it offers a little change of pace compared to the other restaurants in the village. We stopped in early on a Friday afternoon after friends suggested we check it out. It was around 4 pm and there was another couple in there seated at a table near the bar and us. Upon entering there was a distinct odor of I guess old frying oil. At least that's what it smelled like to me; a bit of a turnoff. The bartender was very friendly and we got into a beer conversation. It seems they only have 6 taps but two of them were local crafts. I opted for a Catskill Brewery IPA per the barmen's suggestion that was New England style; excellent! My wife wasn't eating but ordered a cup of NE clam chowder that she thought wasn't good. I tasted it and thought they could have at least heated it up properly. I ordered a burger topped with a fried egg. It was done med. rare as ordered and tasted very good. Fries were soggy. Although limited to 6 taps they do have a decent bottle collection. read more

While in town for an event my husband & I went here at the recommendation of friends. They have a couple of beers on tap & we were happy to find a couple of local beers to try. In particular Catskill Brewing had Devil's Path IPA which was fabulous! I did not order dinner but did order a bowl of New England clam chowder. I felt like it had too many spices in it that took away from the taste of the clams. It was also room temperature. I liked the atmosphere here & the bartender was very personable. Stunningly rude service. Came in with some friends on a very quiet Saturday night (maybe 5 other people in the place). Ordered and waited over an hour for our entrees to arrive. When a member of our party politely requested an update for when our food might arrive, rather than apologize for the delay or offer an explanation the bartender lectured him across the restaurant about how long it takes to make food for 9 people. Maybe a warning ahead of time about the apparently predictable extended wait would have been advisable? The same member of my party later (completely unnecessarily) apologized and the bartender asked what he said. He repeated himself and she responded, "That's not what you said, but okay." What is happening?? To recap: Literally there was no one else there who ordered food and it was, again, a Saturday--I would expect a *restaurant* to be prepared for people to come in and maybe order food on a weekend night. A group of 8 of us stopped here after a hike in the Catskills. Unfortunately, the service left much to be desired. After the waitress took our orders, she came back about 10 minutes later to make sure that she had everything correct. Fair enough, there were 8 of us and she seemed like she might be new. The food took a long time to come out and there was nobody else in the restaurant. One person's sandwich came out, then my wrap came out a full 5 minutes later, and then the other food started trickling out another full 5 minutes after that. I ordered the Caribbean Jerk shrimp wrap. The sauce was way too salty; it ruined the wrap. I had asked for macaroni salad as a side, and I received fries. Someone else received mushrooms on their burger and they hadn't asked for it. Then the waitress brought out an additional burger, and nobody had ordered it - we had all already gotten their food. We had ordered wings and they came out the same time as the meals, rather than as an appetizer. It was just funny how many things went wrong. The waitress came back one more time and read off our orders for a third time to make sure she had everything right for our checks. She did split the checks so we appreciated that. Good points: delicious, crispy fries, and the wings had a good flavored sauce. There was a homemade blue cheese dressing that was very tasty. The people who had burgers said they were good. What an underestimated amazing place!! While working in Ellenville, NY I took to yelp for some advise on a great place to eat. I am glad I did. The first time I tried this place I had some sort of jambalaya ratatouille which was wonderful. Very flavorful loaded with andouille sausage and shrimp. It sure hit the spot on a cold day in December. The second time I tried this place with a coworker. I had the siracha turkey burger which was OUT OF THIS WORLD!! The service was quick and convenient. YES, it does not look like much, but it is what is inside that will make you feel at home. We had a young waiter/chef, all around guy take care of us, he was great. SO friendliness is high. He was quick, courteous, and knowledgeable about his menu and inventory. We each ordered sandwich's. I can't remember exactly what each of us had, but I know I was mostly satisfied. My wife was not. I had a simple burger, and you really have to go out of your way to mess up a burger, though it was a bit under salted. She had some kind of specialty plate that was bland and completely under seasoned. The environment was a bit run down, but not beyond repair. There were a number of flies bothering us during our meal, but a door was propped open for ventilation, so it wasn't unexpected. The bathroom door was out of sorts. I believe it was a piece of press board on hinges. That could use an upgrade. All in all, I would give them a second chance. Though the food wasn't seasoned perfectly, even the best cooks have off days. If I could do half stars in Yelp, I would split it right down the middle and give them a two and a half. read more

This used to be one of my favorite places to stop and get Carolina gold wings. I was there a couple weeks ago with my father on a Friday night. There were two tables a two top and a four top inside, one had good one did not. There were also two drinkers at the bar. One 3 top sat outside still waiting on food. My father and I ordered one alcoholic and one non alcoholic beverage. Which came out in a timely manner. We placed the entire ordered when drinks were delivered. Two orders of shrimp, wings for an entree and shrimp scampi. While we waited for our appetizers another party of 5 walked in. After 45 minutes our appetizers came out. Which is a bit ridiculous. They were tasty even though they were fried and it doesn't state that in the menu. That party of 5 I had mentioned walked out due to a 30 minute wait on apps. After another 45 minutes my wings came out, but not my fathers shrimp scampi. I set my wings off to the side to be able to eat with my father. 30 minutes later his dish finally came out. His pasta was cold but shrimp was hot. Obviously my wings were cold as I had waited for my fathers dish. At the time of order I had also placed a Togo order for two entrees, a pastrami Ruben and a burger. We waited another 30 minutes before the server came and told me that the chef hadn't even started my Togo order. 3 hours is entirely too long.
