They shine like a beacon; a very upscale venue in a very small town. The food is excellently prepared and plated. The place has a welcoming vibe. There is outdoor seating in the back courtyard and sidewalk tables in front. Their alcohol situation is astounding. I've seen some big bars, but the wine and spirits selection here has to be seen to be believed. They are also one of the few places that can brag about signature cocktails! They don't just have a one or two page list; they have what amounts to a loose leaf that contains not only what's available, but an encyclopedia explaining the difference alcoholic beverages. They also infuse some of the liquors. There's a ghost margarita; that is not for the faint of heart or palate. Service is superb and attentive. What an amazing meal! It took a long time (overheard that the cheese was off the night we went), but the flavors were outstanding. I mean, even the RICE was not to be missed! Seriously!! The grilled calamari May have ruined all other calamari for us for all time. Wish there would've been time for dessert before the show we were there to attend...I'm sure it would've blown us away! This is really a 2.5 star review. Came here for dinner because of the great reviews and the cute decor. Service was solid but prices were absolutely ridiculous for such mediocre food! Our hummus came with ten skimpy rice crackers -- who serves rice crackers with hummus?? Burger was decent but kind of greasy and came with a singular smashed potato in need of salt. Hot pot tasted fresh but was lacking flavor despite the two sauces given. The icing on the cake was that a non-alcoholic beverage that was quite literally just orange juice and grenadine was $7.50. If I am paying $100+ for dinner and non-alcoholic beverages in a small town, the food better be miraculous -- and it was not. Left very disappointed. read more

Not impressed, we went back again thinking things might be better this time. We tried a simple thing a cheese burger ( cheddar) medium well little pink. The waitress was excellent made for a fun time spent. The cheese burger was just that a cheese burger nothing out of the ordinary. We expected flavor something more tan a burger. We were at Ellenville. They were having a raspberry festival. So we walked around the town. The restaurant was recommended to us. I like the interior they had tables but mostly booths. We ordered appetizers of slow smoked wings and a pound of garlic mussels the Herrera delicious. But also to make room for our entree. I ordered the hot pot with shrimp. It also was delicious. Left very impressed with the restaurant Victor was our server. Very professional but also a bit funny. All in all it's a good dining experience read more

We've eaten here many many times. It's generally been just ok, and we walk away feeling unenthusiastic, but bellies full. This last time that we ate there however, will be our last after our last few visits have left us disappointed. Our meal on this last visit was just not good at all, and we spent about $100. The food was barely seasoned, cooked incorrectly and one dish even tasted weird like the oil being used was off or something. I glanced in the kitchen on my way to the restroom, and frankly it gives the feeling of stress and sadness. No one looked remotely happy or interested in what they were doing. I know the owners care in their own way, but I think they've lost touch with the heart of the business, which is the kitchen and their cooks. They should engage their cooks more, be kind to them, teach them, pay them well etc. That's what the customer ultimately tastes - the care and interest of a cook. If that's lacking, everything is lacking. I hope they find a way to do better, but for us we will not return. We've given many many chances to have a better dining experience and often walk away disappointed or just blah. PS. fixing water damage in the bathroom and updating the T1-11as wainscotting would be a good idea too. PPS. The servers are always lovely. Focus on the food. read more

The food tasted so fresh! My picky friend got a chicken dish and she really enjoyed it. If you knew how picky she was, you would understand that this speaks volumes about the quality! There was live music, but I could've done without it honestly. We were glad we had a little wall separating us from the stage. We ordered a brownie for dessert and we didn't like it. One bite and you can tell that it was a healthier version, I assume made with dates. It was very sticky in our teeth and we wouldn't have gotten that had we known it was a healthier version. This used to be our favorite restaurant when upstate NY and we went last night to celebrate my husbands birthday. Huge disappointment! What used to be a lovely appetizer board with meats and local cheeses was now a board with a pile of fatty ham and an assortment of chilies typically found in a stew and not suitable as table food. This was coupled with toasted sliced grocery store bread at $24! Next we ordered the burgers and chicken. The burgers arrived on desert sized plates coupled with a couple of large, what appeared to be boiled potatoes, cut in half and thrown on the grill a few min. The chicken tasted good but also arrived with the same boiled potato situation. Needless to say, we didn't eat the potatoes. The food took almost an hour to arrive. We left so sad. Ellenville is a village where we see restaurants and businesses struggling. Aroma Thyme has been the exception. Needless to say, we won't be back. read more

Absolutely delicious! This farm to table restaurant in Ellenville exceeds expectations. I got a postcard in the mail offering a free birthday meal (if I came on my birthday) or half off if I came within the month. I was too busy on my birthday so I came for the half off. I decided to try the bread with white bean dip. It doesn't sound like much, but trust me, it was totally worth it and so good I asked for more. My main course was a perfectly cooked steak, with a side of Yukon potatoes and steamed broccoli. It was one of the best meals I have had in a long time. I ended the meal with a cappuccino. The decor was cute with vintage vibes and the servers were awesome! This restaurant was the perfect end to a lovely afternoon at the Stone Church and Sam's Point. Highly recommended. read more

I don't understand the fuss about this restaurant. I have eaten there a few times and have never been very pleased. Service is good. Prices are high but I don't mind paying if food is tasty. I want to like it bc of the owner's views on fresh healthy food but somehow I find it bland . I did pick up Thanksgiving dinner 2 yrs ago that was very good. This place is amazing! If you haven't been, you need to! The owners are so great, the food is delish and the bartender, Dakota, is awesome! He made the pineapple jalapeño margarita for hubby with a bit less pineapple upon request, due to sugar factors...he said it might have been the Best margarita he has ever had!!! The wine selection is awesome, especially for those who know and love Italian wines!! Thin crust margarita pizza was awesome! The Cumin Papadums were so yummy! Next time I'm getting the mushroom risotto bc I know it's amazing, as I had a sample at a festival 2 weeks ago! Fantastic restaurant in a cute little town. Stopped here on Friday night while attending Ukrainian youth camp with my kids. Started with Organic Sweet Potato Soup - nice curryesque flavours with a slight kick. Very refreshing overall. My kids ordered the pear salad with chicken breast. Was surprised to witness them actually touch and willingly consume something containing blue cheese. This an event the rarity of which can be best compared to witnessing a magical white stag in the wild or acquiring cheap tickets for Taylor Swift tour. My son had the pasta special with shrimp. Pasta was expertly cooked (al dente) which is very appreciated and he loved the tomato sauce used. My daughter ordered the medium rare Ribeye which was entirely too much food for a 7 year old but she loved the sides that came with it - Roasted Garlic + Fig Vincotto + EVOO + Crushed Garlic Yukon Potatoes + Sauteed Vegetables. I once again was amazed that she consumed something with cooked garlic. She never graces me with that when I cook it. My wife and I have had a bottle of splendid Riesling from the region (sort of, finger lakes I think). In general - this place has a nice wine list We finished up the evening with dessert - blueberry crisp and chocolate cake. I would pick the cake over the crisp - mostly because I had no idea what "crisp" actually meant in that context until that time. Service was impeccable, and the atmosphere was lively. This is a cute bistro when it is not completely packed totally full. The center set of tables is impossible to sit at and even hear anyone at your table talk. Also, apparently when the restaurant is busy, the food quality is diminished. The service was also random at best. We all came in with a party for a friends birthday apparently on the same night as a play next-door in the theater. One person had a birthday coupon that was sent to them for a "free birthday steak dinner". As soon as that was presented the host who sat us saw the coupon and suggested that we upgrade as soon as we presented the coupon. We decided not to since we had heard on social media that the "free steak" was still amazing. Other people at the table ordered steak off the menu and a few appetizers, which were just OK. The bread on some of them were burnt for the dipping and spreads and the mussels came out cold but tasty. The other steaks came out fine a bit over seasoned but prepared ok and of much better quality apparently than the " free" one everyone ate them. But, the person who got the "free birthday" steak, ended up with a piece of grizzle fat and was not happy at all. Obviously this is a scam way to get you into the restaurant. The check was a pretty decent size even with the "free steak". So in my opinion, that is a lead in to get you into the restaurant to upgrade the free one to a better quality steak ($$) and then reap the benefits of the other people who come to the restaurant with the birthday person. All in all it was a bit of a ruse. Everyone agreed, even though the food wasn't terrible, it was very high priced, and the service was not great. And the poor birthday person ended up with a terrible meal. Even when we told the server it wasn't great and she saw it wasn't eaten. She offered nothing to make the situation better. We all left and had dessert somewhere else. read more

Wow this place exceeded my expectations. I was in the area for my anniversary trip with my partner and all the reviews pointed to this being the spot to go to. I loved the decor. Lots of cool Knick knacks to look at and admire. The bar itself looked fully stocked and the wine list was certainly impressive. Overall the space was very warm and inviting. Our waitress was incredibly friendly and polite as well which made our experience even better. I ended up ordering the cinnamon old fashioned and wow! Just wow! Those were the words that left my mouth after my first sip. An absolutely delicious drink that I would love to have again. As our appetizer, we ordered the cheese board and the shrimp scampi bruschetta. The cheese board spread was fantastic and the focaccia (?) that came with it was the perfect vessel to transport every bite I took. Same applied to the scampi. The shrimp weren't over cooked and there wasn't a lot of acidity in the sauce which I loved. For my entree I ended up ordering the smoked strip steak pizza. It was a great portion size and incredibly delicious. I ended having a good amount of left overs for the following day. To close out our dinner we got the warm chocolate brownie with vanilla ice cream. It was so good that we forgot to take a photo! This place definitely lives up to the hype! Went to celebrate birthday dinner. Had a free steak dinner. Ordered a liquor drink, salad and a burger. Service was awful. Sat for at least twenty minutes and no one came to check and see if we needed anyrhing. The owner gave excuses and never apologized. We traveled 1.5 hrs to get to this restuarant. I told the owner this. I would have given the drink back it someone would have come over to us. It was awful and it cost 15.00 for that drink. I will never go back to that restaurant. read more
