My husband and I came to Trattoria Marbella on Saturday, September 19, 2020. We were totally blown away by the atmosphere, food, friendliness of the staff. The owner, Luis, couldn't do enough for us to make our experience memorable. We had the mozzarella sticks, I had shrimp scampi and my husband had chicken parm with home made linguini. What amuses me most, is the 2 star reviewers keep going back! This place is raveable, really. I grew up locally and have worked in a Michelin-starred restaurant for the past 12 years. The interior is shockingly, very modern, for this area. It's dimly lit and great for a date or dinner party. I enjoyed conversations with both owners, who are very welcoming. I had a chicken vegetable soup and steak caesar salad which was delicious. I topped it off with 2 glasses of red, and for $40, I felt like I robbed the place. I can't wait to return! read more

An extra notice should be given to the bathrooms. They have two bathrooms - the first one is TINY - a large person will have trouble doing their business in there. Overall, not sure where the good reviews are coming from. The ingredients did not taste very fresh. There was basically no one inside on a Saturday night. Maybe that is normal for this area. The beans in the chicken tacos were cold. The octopus did not taste fresh. The chorizo also did not taste fresh. My partner and I finished about 1/3 of the food. The waitstaff did not ask if we enjoyed our food, likely because it was clear that we did not. The waiter was nice enough, but I go to a restaurant to eat, and there isn't any reason to return in that regard. I don't like driving home wondering if I will get food poisoning the next morning. The restaurant wasn't open at the time but the owner welcomed us and gave us a five star dining experience. Was visiting Ellenville, the town my girlfriend grew up in, and happened upon this new business. GREAT LUCK! This place isn't even finished with all of the renovations and changes it plans to do, and it is still TERRIFIC! The owners are two of the nicest people I have met in a while, and they took their time to chat with us and tell us all about the history of the building they renovated, plans for the future, and owner/chef Luis' pride in his homemade pasta. First, the space is BEAUTIFUL. So rustic Italian-looking, a truly restored old building with so much charm and warmth. They are currently renovating the back for a very cozy bar area and I cannot WAIT until this is done. I am telling you, this place is going to be something really special when it's all finished. But they're still a full-service dining operation right now, you wouldn't even know they still had plans for more! Homemade pasta is so delicious, and the Tuscan style preparation is just the best, lightest coating of red sauce. We also had a mushroom ravioli that was so tasty I will think about it for a while! Came here on 9/19/20 mid-morning. Horrible experience here. The food was faux Italian; in reality it's basically regular American diner food. However, it's also in the middle of nowhere so whatever, I didn't expect NYC quality. What was unacceptable though was the fact that not only was the server wearing his mask incorrectly, but he also moved my forks by touching them with his own bare hands. His fingers touched the fork side that you stab food with. Are you kidding me? You'd think basic sanitary training would be important in the middle of a once in a century pandemic, but apparently not to this restaurant. I would only come here again if my goal was to get permanent lung damage from COVID. read more
