This was the worst experience I have ever had with dog boarding! I signed up for the VIP service to board my dog for a few days. My dog was returned to me with a huge bloody wound on the top of her head. Nobody contacted me to tell me what happened or when. My Vet was not contacted and looks like No medical attention was given!! I had to take her to the Vet and due to an infection of the wound she required a medical procedure, antibiotics, and paid medication. I will NEVER use or recommend The Pup Camp - stay away! read more

Sooo, I took my puppy in today (Saturday) to have a temperament test done. He was there four hours to see if he was a fit for the center. Prior to today, I gathered all of the details for today's visit. The young lady stated the temperament testing was free, (I learned this was not true once I got there and signed my pup up for the day). (FIRST NEGATIVE) Prior to leaving, I had my own water bowl and water for my pup. The young lady said, oh no, we provide water for your dog. ALL OF THE DOGS DRINK OUT OF THE SAME BOWL. (I knew I should have gotten my dog and left then but I didn't). (SECOND NEGATIVE) At the conclusion of the testing, they are suppose to provide a physical report card of how well your pup did. Fast forward to the pickup. When they brought my pup out, he did not look like how I dropped him off (I'm not complaining about this because he was playing with other dogs.) BUT, he smelled like the other dogs ganged up on him and dumped urine all over him. Ohhh goodness, he was a stinky mess. I did not inquire about this, which I should have. (THIRD NEGATIVE). When I asked for the report card, the young lady goes, "oh I'm sorry, he doesn't have one because there were a lot of dogs today." REALLY?!? But you took my money with no problem. (FOURTH NEGATIVE) The moral to this story, there are too many negatives for the initial consultation so I will pass. read more

I take my dog to the Pup Camp in Severna Park. The biggest issue I have is drop off in the morning. There is only 1 employee to check dogs in and the back up can grow to 3-4 dogs in the small lobby. You need more morning employees and a better check in system. Most of the employees seem to really like the dogs, others could care less. They need better communication between shifts. A short daily report card of dogs day would be fantastic. read more

I have been so thankful to Dogthrive and the care they take for my pup. Chico, my dog, is my baby we don't have children so he really is my child. We took Chico here when he was a puppy to do a temperament test and he did great and came back so tired which was amazing for us! We continue to take him here and he is almost one. I can only speak to the daycare as I have not had him groomed or boarded here yet but our experience has been very pleasant so far! There are many bad reviews for dogthrive but I feel like a lot of them come from unrealistic expectations. Chico for one is an excited piddler and as he's gotten older it's gotten a lot better but there have been times he's come home smelling like urine but it's always been explained why and was usually, "A new tech walked in he got excited and peed a little then rolled over to get a belly rub and rolled in the pee before we could grab him to clean it up." This has happened at home so it wasn't just a story they were telling us. They also have explained that they tried to clean him up and sprayed him with puppy deoderizing shampoo spray which I haven't seen with other daycares do. Since he is going into a place with lots of other dogs I don't expect him to come out smelling like he just got a bath so I think some expectation management helps with that. Just recently I have been shown why I love and will continue taking him to Dog Thrive. For one we were walking around a farmers market and a person steps out of their booth and asks, is that Chico?! And at first I was confused because I didn't recognize them but Chico did and they immediately let me know they work at DogThrive and they love playing with him and how much they enjoy having him there, they proceeded to get on their hands and knees to give Chico some love. For someone in their off time to not only recognize him but go out of their way to tell me they enjoy time with him and for him to have such an amazing reaction to seeing them outside of the daycare setting shows these people really love these dogs when we aren't with them. Secondly, I had some potential plans that would require me to board Chico that weren't confirmed yet so when I dropped him off for daycare I provided food and toys just in case and explained the situation. They were communicative and very understanding that he may or may not be boarded. I didn't end up needing to board him and picked him up at the end of the day. I realized I was charged for boarding anyway which makes sense since I made the reservation and was set to board. When I called and told them of the charge they not only refunded me for the boarding but also for the day of daycare (that he did partake in). How amazing is that? I love the staff and have nothing but amazing things to say about how well Chico has been treated here! If you don't mind the occasional necessary bath from a day spent playing and having fun then this is the place for you and your pup! read more

Ok, so I can't say enough about this place. I have come to understand their wait list for grooming. It's an entire experience. They took the time to evaluate my Tyson's temperament and made sure there was a mutual fit. I can say he's never come home in such good spirits after time away. When I called to check on him they didn't hesitate to give me an update and when I picked him up I could tell he was treated well. Lately, prior to finding Dog Thrive his grooming experiences had not been very good. Not only did Dog Thrive do amazing job on his grooming but he came home happy. Surprisingly for the last two years the groomers that I've been using have randomly closed or gone out of business. I'm so glad I found Dog Thrive. I was able to find everything I needed online from their awesome website. I arrived on time with my dogs and they immediately took them back and asked me what type of cut I wanted for them. The groomer explained recommended cuts and suggested ways to trim up their face. Within two hours, I got a call that they were ready for pickup. I was so impressed when I saw them that I was almost confused if they were my dogs. I'm happy that they offer other services such as broading, daycare and pick up services. Two experiences at Dog Thrive have made me decide to never bring my dog here again. In April 2019, I boarded my dog here for four or five days. I let them know that I would be able to pick her up around 6:30 pm or 7 pm on the final day, and they said she would be groomed and ready for pick up by then. Keep in mind that this facility is an hour out of my way. I arrived around 6:30 pm and was told my dog was not ready yet. I went to a local shopping center to pass the time. The time she would be ready for pickup continued to change until it was nearly 10 pm. At this point all of the stores were closed, and I resorted to waiting in the parking lot outside of Dog Thrive until my dog was ready to go home. If I had not been misled about my dog's pick up time, I could have avoided wasting nearly four hours of my time wandering around and waiting on her to be finished. More recently in November, I boarded my dog again for a period of four or five days. I should have learned my lesson the first time. My dog came home with a silver dollar or larger sized gash on her head that Dog Thrive was not able to explain. My dog still has the mark of this gash over six months later. Needless to say, I will not be returning to Dog Thrive. read more

I boarded my 10 year old chocolate lab, Cocoa, in November for an extended stay since I was going out of the country. When I returned I found out that Dog Thrive staff had call my home number repeatedly to say that she was throwing up, then had blood in her stool. This was after she had been there for about 10 days. They never called my celll although they said they did. They dId not call my emergency contact although they said they did. They also said that they called my vet and was told to just watch her. My vet said they never called and he would not have told them that because it was not protocol. Lies, lies, lies. I never got an explanation or an apology. It was a horrible and scary experience. I took my 7mth old puppy there for a temperament test day. I dropped him off around 830a. They said he could be picked up after 3p. They advised they have live cameras between 11a-3p so I felt good about that. I called around 10a to check in on him. They said the small dog group would be on the cameras at 1p. I waited and saw my puppy outside with multiple size dogs. He was on a bench looking helpless and scared. The aides were busy on their phones and spraying the dogs with a water hose. I was so stressed out. I couldn't believe my eyes. I then went to the camera for inside and OMG what in the world. The aide was NOT watching the dogs. My little 5lb baby was in there with all size dogs..He was being trampled over and everything. I watched him try to get the aides attention. He followed her around everywhere and was jumping up on her legs for help. She just walked away from him. Then a big dog proceeded to poop and 5 other dogs came over and they all ate up the poop. She had NO idea what happened on the other side. Just ridiculous and disgusting. I then called the facility and got NO answer. I called SEVEN times back to back and nothing. I proceeded to go to the facility. At this time the door was locked. WTF is the door locked for. The girl finally opens the door at 3p. I tell her to go get my puppy immediately. I let her know how disgusting, inhumane and deplorable the facility was. I let her know what I saw on the cameras. She said "you don't have to pay for todays visit." And I politely let her know that I wasn't going to pay regardless. I was crying so bad because of the trauma I watched on the webcam but also how my baby was just trembling in fear. I felt horrible as a mom that he went through that and I chose to take him there. I would NEVER EVER EVER recommend anyone to send their fur babies there. Just ridiculous. My baby went ONE day and now he has an upper respiratory infection, suffering from dehydration and he lost weight. He wakes up every 2 hours because he's hacking so bad he barely can breathe. He's not playful and barely eats or drinks. All he wants to do is be held and sleep. Prior to this visit he was in perfect health. We are still battling this issue so please keep him in your prayers for a full recovery. I will be filing a complaint against the facility. It needs to be shut down. read more

I live in Northern Virginia but had a quick work trip in Baltimore for a couple days. Heard good things online and via the website for Dog Thrive and thought I'd check it out. Dropped my dog Kona off there on a Wednesday and picked her back up Friday afternoon. Normally she cannot wait to get home but this time was rather hesitant! The place is gorgeous and the staff was very knowledgeable and friendly. Kona clearly enjoyed her stay and I will be taking her back there next time I'm out of town even though it's a little farther away from where I live. Definitely recommend! read more

In Maryland 8 yr old Missy, Cavalier Spaniel, has had two different cuts, and grooms of different types. We were NOT pleased with one full groom at ALL, and they did not even snip her longer nails, and 2 in the front were left WAY too long - so - Dog Thrive was as good as it gets. We were VERY pleased to bring her in mid-day, and not have to bring her super early. Then, that we could come pick her up in a couple hours. I have been using Dog Thrive to care for my fur babies since Katie was 12 weeks old. She's grew up here. I started at Gambrills and now they watch her in Annapolis. It's so nice to have the same people working there since the beginning because they know Katie so well. My son's dog Bailey also attends daycare at Dog Thrive. I love how Dog Thrive takes pictures daily and have special themes days. I use to take them weekly but I now am home so I don't need to take them there as often. Bailey and Katie know what I mean when I say "we're going to Thrivey." I cannot say enough positive things about the staff. They know my dogs intimately and truly care. I can't give enough praise to Jess! I brought my other dog here already, and Charlotte did a great job as well. But JESS! My younger doggo Philip is NOT a super easy guy to groom. He had a bad experience as a puppy and then his whole life he's had the same groomer until we moved here a little while ago from California. He's VERY sensitive to change and I was so stressed about trying a new groomer with him. Jess did a fantastic job with his cut. She was so sweet with him and that warms my heart. I will definitely be bringing Philip here from now on. I also plan to get him in some classes and maybe try daycare. I'm so glad to have found a groomer with experience in behavior as well. I had taken my dogs to this location after a bad experience at the Annapolis location. This one is a nicer facility. However, I was really annoyed when I called after my dogs had been there for 4 nights (out of 8) to check on them. No one even knew their names and quickly the response to my question was "oh, yeah they're doing great!" When we picked them up, my girl dog was wearing my boy dog's harness (falling off of her shoulders) and my boy dog was tightly constricted to his sister's harness, he could barely walk in it. The staff was nice, especially the man who apologized for putting them in the wrong harnesses. No hard feelings, just disappointed. I'd bring them to daycare here but not boarding. read more

It was only a four hour trial, but I was appalled by what seemed to be the remains of my dog. When we picked our dog up after the trial the man at the front brought us our dog while rubbing him down with a Lysol wipe. ABSOLUTELY NOT OKAY. When my dog was in our care he smelled like dog pee, had stains all over and smelt so bad we took him home immediately to wash him, cancelling our plans for the day. Very disappointed as a regular customer who has recommended the business. Brought dog for grooming drop off 8am as planned weeks in advance. Told 2 others pets ahead for grooming so #3 for service. As hours ticked away for 6 hours and multiple inquiries in between told continually .... next up. Responses from staff very misleading on each inquiry call, as next should not mean 6 hours later. Being a considerate & patient owner still a pet should not of been there for 6 hours waiting. Doesn't seem right for pet or human....imagine you sitting at the parlor for 6 hrs being told 2 ahead of you. Humans can speak up, pets can only be advocated for.Told about individual service, etc. but staff made the customer feel at fault for questioning status. Wouldn't it be good customer service for staff to be forthright & considerate in responses versus poor excuses. After last inquiry at the 6 hr mark told by staff ohhhh doing now or if you want go somewhere else to another groomer....Really ...thats what a customer is told...This is the business model? When asked to speak to a manager told not in today... when asked who in charge in manager absence told no one, how to talk to someone in charge told maybe you should pick up dog & go somewhere else. Well finally picked up dog having been groomed eight (8) hours later from drop off. Having gone there for 2 years & satisfied with quality of services to be told to go somewhere else with attitude just for asking status....as any reasonable person would do ...surely we will take the staff advise and happily dissolve our business relationship. This place is amazing ! I went here yesterday for my baby to do her temperament test prior to boarding over Thanksgiving and as soon as I walked in, I knew this place was going to be great. Bella was welcomed as soon as I brought her in and I know she had a blast there because I took her home and she knocked out all night! They sent me pictures of my baby while she was there so I knew she was having a good time and they also gave her a bath and she was so smooth and shiny and smelled wonderful when I picked her up. I was very disappointed with Thrive. My dog stayed there once, for a long weekend. Monday morning, right before I picked him up, they called saying he threw up once or twice but they think he just must have allergies. Well... 30 minutes later I picked him up and on our 10 minute drive home he threw up 7 times. He proceeded to throw up 40 times in about 24 hours. After $700 in vet bills, IV fluids, anti-nausea pills etc. I was told by the vet my dog definitely got a virus at Thrive. I called Thrive and they said "yes, a lot of dogs have been getting sick here but it's just allergies". No apologies, no followup and no refund. Meanwhile, my amazing vet followed up FIVE times to check on my dog because of how sick he had been. read more

I LOVE Dog Thrive! I first found them by looking at yelp reviews, and I can see why they were so positively rated. Dog Thrive has watched my pup for me several times now while I'm out of town or just having busy days, and every time I pick her up, she's happy but so exhausted from playing all day. It's so fantastic! I also love that every time I go in to pick her up, the staff at the desk say something sweet about having her there- it really makes me feel like she's well cared for and receives plenty of loving attention and activity while I'm gone. I also love the updates they share on social media so I can catch glimpses of her playing with the other dogs. Great boarding and daycare experience, reasonable rates-- I'd recommend to anyone. read more

I couldn't ask for any better care than what DogThrive provides my dog. The staff are friendly & responsive. The Owners (I've interacted with Mark & Mattew so far) are superheroes. I have never seen my dog so happy or as well taken care of as when she's at Dog Thrive, or the superlative at-Home care. When I first visited a Golden was so excited for their day at Dog Thrive that they were pawing at the door to be let in - pups don't lie so I was convinced at how wonderful it was from the start. As for the at-Home care, there is no one else we trust to come into our house to take care of our pup & respect our home. **UPDATED** Scott Parker, one of the owners, personally reached out to me via telephone and social media to express his regrets. Parker was most contrite and professional. Matthew Stewart, another owner, addressed me online as well. Although I never spoke with/heard from the party in the management team who was errant, Scott and I, as well as he and my Mom, had extensive communication. Parker made several offers, including a return for my pup and free training sessions. I declined the offers as we've already found another daycare home for my dog, but I would certainly reconsider sending my dog Sugar in the future with a significant improvement in the customer service aspects outlined in my last review and a change in personnel, especially those in middle management. Scott Parker certainly is a great businessman and he (and Matthew) get 5 stars for customer service. This is a very nice place. I put my dog in daycare here when I was having some work done in my house. The early drop off hours and the late pick-up hours are convenient to my work schedule. My experience with this place has been short, only since this past February...but my Maltese, Jeronimo, loves it here!! It turns out that the groomer, Ashley, was my boy's very first groomer some 9 years ago when he was just a tiny baby! A few years ago we moved and we lost her but not for long, I see :) That was a great feeling to see her again. She even remembered grooming him!! I found dog thrive when looking for boarding as hubby and I were taking our first vacation in about 10 years. I've never ever been without Jeronimo and he'd never been boarded. I started with a grooming session, then brought him back for his temperament test and booked his 4 night stay. Apparently, he had a ball in day care and I've taken him back a few times since. I've moved about 40 minutes away and still bring my baby to this location. I've never ever seen Jeronimo so excited to be anywhere... not even a dog park. When I drop him off, he gets cuddles and lots of love from staff before I've even left. He eats the attention up! As soon as we enter, he gets excited (maybe he recognizes the smell? Because he certainly shakes like a leaf as soon as we walk into the vet's office) and he's never given any signs of distress when I pick him up. If you're reading this, you must love your dog like I love mine.. you *know* when something is wrong with your baby as soon as you see them. I've never gotten that vibe from him when he's gone to DT. We recently used Dog Thrive for in-home dog sitting and dog walking. We had all the details for our trip to Ireland planned for over a year with one exception...what to do with our 16 year old Border Collie, Céilì. With the help of good neighbors, we have never had to kennel our dog; however, two weeks is a long time and a lot to ask of even the best neighbor so...we turned to Dog Thrive and we couldn't be more pleased with their service. A dog walker came to the house before we left, asked detailed questions about our dog that only someone who truly cares would ask, and took the time to get to know our dog in a short amount of time. While in Ireland, we received daily emails as well as posts on their app. They sent photos and cute anecdotes that allowed me to fully disconnect, relax and enjoy our family vacation. Our dog is near the end of her life and we had a plan for Dog Thrive to work with our Vet if that was needed. Our vacation was spectacular mainly because we knew our dog was in such kind and loving care. We took our Labradoodle puppy who has never been groomed before to Dog Thrive this morning. We won't be going anywhere else! The staff is so nice and helpful. The groomer, Carrie, went over exactly how we would like Daisy to be cut and spoke with us about all of our options. It was a very personal experience and I felt completely comfortable leaving her there. Carrie even took us on a tour of the place and recommended some good grooming brushes for us to buy. We were extremely disappointed with our most recent boarding experience at Dog Thrive in Gambrills, MD. Our dog was injured at the facility sustaining bite injuries to his face, nose, head, neck and jowls from another dog there. Our dog also has broken and/or missing front teeth and was limping (favoring his left front leg). We did get a brief phone call from someone at Dog Thrive on the day of the attack, but the Dog Thrive employee was very dismissive and provided no details regarding the extent of the injuries our dog sustained, whether the dogs were supervised or unsupervised and/or what was done to treat the wounds our dog sustained. Dog bites are serious and infection can set in if not treated. Dog Thrive completely failed in this respect. This is highly unacceptable when our dog was dropped off in their care in perfect health and with all his teeth. I do not recommend this place for boarding your dog. read more
