I'm so glad we have Credo storefronts in the city. My partner and I both booked makeup one-on-one sessions this past summer in preparation for our wedding, and it was a great experience. Neither of us wear makeup on a regular basis, and my techniques were stuck in 2008 lol. So the class was a much needed refresher on current makeup trends. Together, we spent about $750 and didn't get any free samples or gifts with purchase like you would online, so for that reason, in the future, I'll probably go there to try on makeup and make my purchases online, or be more direct in asking for samples/gifts with purchase. I really like all the products I purchased, though my partner picked up some duds (bad packaging, dry product) so in the future, we will make sure everything is working properly before the return window lapses, because these products are not cheap! read more

Who doesn't love a "green clean" makeup bar. I switched over from Sephora many moons ago. Bring in your empties for points. High quality green products and makeup. Visiting the store is nice to try & see things in person. The staff were so helpful in explaining who makes the products and what goes into it. A must pop in while strolling Fillmore. A clean bright store and gifts with purchase and they can make you samples if you are curious. I had a very disappointing experience at Credo Beauty. I went in simply to browse, but from the moment I walked through the door I was followed around by an overly pushy staff member who kept trying to upsell me on products I never asked about. It felt less like customer service and more like being watched, which made the entire visit uncomfortable. I understand offering help, but customers shouldn't be harassed while they shop--especially when they've made it clear they're just looking. The pressure and constant hovering turned what should have been a pleasant, low-key visit into something stressful and unpleasant. Whenever I'm in the Filmore area I always find myself stopping by this location! Super organized and such friendly staff!! They're always so helpful when I'm trying to find new products to buy. I decided to go the clean fragrance route and I was suggested to try Henry Rose! I'm absolutely obsessed! As an older woman with mature skin I was incredibly impressed with the staff at this store, especially Victoria and Lydia. They knew exactly what products worked best with my dry, sun blotchy skin. They were also incredibly helpful with finding and applying makeup that worked well with my fair complexion. They were professional, knowledgeable, and fun to work with! I drove an hour to get to the store but will definitely come back soon and sign up for the service, especially with these employees because they knew a lot about how to apply makeup and make it look natural. I loooove Credo Beauty! I adore that it's in my neighborhood and I can pop in anytime I need a quick fixer. They have the best colors and the ladies there are always attentive and asking if I need help with anything. I appreciate that in a store! They're not just about sales, they really believe in the quality of their products. It's a wonderful testament to clean, green beauty products. I love that you can try anything on to see how it works for your skin. I can just purchase lip stain, to eye shadow, face wash, and sunscreen, to moisturizer. My favorite is the Everyday Oil. My friend and I popped into the Credo Beauty store on Fillmore over the weekend. I was looking for a tinted SPF, but ended up chatting with Stephanie about my skincare routine. I'm a new mom, and have completely fallen off of any kind of self-care. Stephanie took the time to talk to me about what I needed, then sat me down and brought my skin back to life in a few steps. I was so happy with everything she picked for me, and already feel so renewed after using the products a few times. While the products themselves are wonderful, it was Stephanie that made this experience stand out for me. We got luckily and found parking on the first try a door down. Yes, the parking gods were on our side that day! I've been wanting to go clean with my beauty care products for quite sometime and have taken small baby steps. At Credo I was on a mission to find a natural deoderant for hubby & I. They have a decent selection of natural deodorants. The employee was friendly but let us have our space but was still approachable. She answered a few questions I had as well. I like how Credo has a wide range of price points, from items you may find at Whole Foods such as Acure to higher price items such as Tata Harper to fit everyone's wallet. Though, to be frank, most of the items are in the mid to higher price point. Our deodorants by Kaia were in the $20ish range. It's about 4x the amount I paid for my Dove deodorant but is much more ingredient friendly. Credo takes all the thinking out for you to research products with safe ingredients. You can also purchase items on their site. I eventually want to also explore clean foundation and powder. I'll be back to Credo for another clean shopping run. read more

Updating my review. After being rapidly sold products which looked like ick by the time I got back to my car. I returned my unopened products with my receipt. They claimed to be unable to process a credit card refund because I didn't have a profile. Curious but whatever I'll come back and scheduled a make up session. This is the green beauty mecca that I've been fantasizing about my whole life! It's great to have an actual storefront that carriers an expansive selection of non-toxic green beauty and personal care products. I'm a huge proponent of only using products that have an ethical backbone, products that are free of parabens, sulfates, and the so-called nasties! Aka, all the chemically fortified mainstream products you see on shelves of traditional retailers do not exist here. They are selective in the ingredients they choose to carry. Your skin is your shield, but it's also a barrier in which you must protect and nourish with the right ingredients because the wrong ingredients over time can actually damage your skin. I like that Credo carries a wide variety of non-toxic beauty brands such as RMS, ILIA, W3ll People, Vapour Organic Beauty, Lily Lolo, etc. and that you can try on colors in store. That's such a privilege in my opinion because ordering online can be so hit or miss and returning is a hassle too. Testing in stores is critical because you get to see the formulations first hand and see if the makeup jives well with your complexion. The store is beautifully laid out and each collection has its own real estate within. They also carry skin care, sun care, and hair care products. These products can be pricey but think of it as an investment over time! The only thing that I think they can improve upon is the customer service. They aren't exactly at Sephora's level yet and can use a class or two on customer service. The whole time I was there I felt like I was at a self-service beauty bar assisting myself. I was already on a high buying things from this store but they could have took more of my money had they been a little more attentive, especially since the store only had a couple customers at the time I was there. Normally, I enjoy my experiences at Credo and find most of the consultants and reps very friendly,personable and helpful as well as knowledgeable. I especially always enjoy Katina, who has been a star with the store for several years now since I've been a customer. However, I was unexpectedly really put off by my experience today with the store manager, Maria, who was very rude when I went to return a couple of products I had just purchased during the sale this weekend (I actually found a better deal for the same items on the Credobeauty website and directly on Tara Harper). During my return, Maria, immediately and very rudely/dismissively claimed she couldn't return one of the items because the bottom of the box had a couple of dents. I objected and explained to her that the box had come like that, and I hadn't even opened or used the products and had just purchased them that weekend during the time she was there. She tried to deny the return again and when I objected again, she relented and claimed that she would only do the return for me this once and that normally she couldn't do a return when boxes are damaged. I said that's fine, but once again, I was not responsible for the box being damaged and that I hadn't even opened either box and both boxes weren't dented. Regardless if it's store policy, I shouldn't be penalized for ASSumed responsibility for something I hadn't done, and Maria could've been handled this in a much more respectful, fair, and diplomatic way instead of being dismissive, presumptive, and rude. I had already spent almost $600 with my purchases between the store and online, and I found it incredibly upsetting to be denied almost $100 because of a dent and to continue to be blamed for something that wasn't even my fault. After completing my return, Maria informed me that they were having some issues with returns not showing up in people's emails or the system for the last day and to call back if there was an issue. I asked her just in case there was an issue if she could print out a return receipt, which she wasn't able due to the system, so I asked what the amount for the return was, and she gave me some random number of approx $156 (it was actually $180) and also what her name was. She seemed put off by my asking these things just in case as a reference. Katina and the other consultant who were there both politely and out of concern asked how I was doing after the exchange with Maria, which I really appreciated. Also, I noticed a couple of times while shopping this weekend that when a couple of the ladies had approached to help me and I was conversing with, that she would ask them to go stock something or assign them with another task. Whenever, I have been in the store, I've not particularly found Maria very warm or welcoming, and she seems inconvenienced a lot. As a manger, Maria really needs to work on her attitude, customer service and communication skills, and how she treats and speaks to others. She should know better and be a better example. Katina and the other ladies and gents that work there provide much better service and have a better attitude. Katina, in my opinion, should also be a manager or higher level given her exceptional service, knowledge, and warmth over the past several years with the company and that store. Lastly, I think it would be really helpful and much better if the sales online and in store matched as I found some of the same products were a better deal online than in the store, and there were also certain brands and products available online that are not available in store. read more

Splurged on the 90 minute facial since I've been traveling a lot lately and having spent a lot of time sunbathing this summer, my skin was feeling really dull. From now on, I will only shop for my skincare/makeup needs at Credo Beauty. Ever since my mom was diagnosed with cancer, I really pay attention to the stuff I put on my face/body and what I eat. My previous 4-star review is now 1-star based on my experience today. Over the years I have spent hundreds of dollars each time I've walked into Credo and today was no exception spending over $200 so I'd say I'm a pretty good customer. When I came in today I was the only customer in the store I picked up my items, spending maybe 10-15min with the associate. I paid and inquired about my points and what I was eligible to receive. The male manager came out from behind the counter and started going through what my 500+ points were eligible for. I was shopping with my 2 year old son who was in a stroller and grouchy as 2 year olds can be. As the manager started telling me the point products I was trying to comfort my 2 year old. Well apparently that was the wrong thing to do. The manager walked away in a huff and said "I'll come back when you're ready", because there were so many invisible customers in the store??? or because you, a 30+ year old man, was trying to compete with a 2 year old for my attention. Let me tell you the 2 year old will win every time. I made it clear to my manager that was son was 2. To the manager - you may not know this, but mom's have super multi tasking powers, I can hear you, comfort my son and get his sippy cup ready all at the same time without missing a beat. So you throwing a hissy fit because I wasn't giving you my undivided attention was complete bs. Grow up dude, you're a man not a toddler. To make the situation worse, I left the store without my "samples" and headed up the street to Starbucks where someone had left their board right outside the front door making it near impossible to get in with a stroller. I politely told the barista the situation. She told me the sign didn't belong there then walked out from behind the counter, out the front door and moved the sign. Now that is customer service. That's the difference between a Starbucks employee and Credo manager. I know where I'll be spending my money in the future. After being under the sun too much recently, I have decided to get a "Luxury Facial" at Credo. Minette, the esthetician I had, was super friendly and extremely knowledgeable about skincare. I was very impressed with the detailed information, knowledge, and suggestions that she has shared with me. The whole facial process felt relaxing, and I had the impression that the ingredients and products used were natural and clean, nothing chemical or artificial. Minette has also helped the facial area that was damaged by the sun exposure. After the entire facial, my skin well hydrated, firm, and very refreshing. Once upon a time, a trip to the US of Aye would have had me making a beeline for one well known French cosmetic store that until recently also offered makeup and skincare at competitively low rates compared to what we could purchase them for in Australia. Initially an online store, they have newly opened a store on Fillmore Street and I eagerly bookmarked it in Yelp ready for my arrival to the area. Conveniently just a 15 minute stroll from my hotel, an afternoon wandering through Credo was the perfect Jet Lag Remedy. As well as being a calm sanctuary with shelves simply stocked with toxin-free, organic and natural skincare and cosmetics, most of these five stars go to Natalie, the sales assistant who helped me out. She wasn't pushy, nor did she follow me around the store once I mentioned I was just having a look. When I asked if she had any single-use moisturising masks for my skin post-flight she offered the alternative of a mini-facial in store using some of the Tata Harper and MV Skincare products. For $35USD I was treated to a double-cleanse, moisturiser, mask, hand massage and finishing serums. For one tired Australian off a long-haul flight, this was just the "Treat Yo Self" moment I needed. And my thirsty post-pressurised cabin skin is still thanking me for the extra attention. With the lack of aisle space the customers and staff were tripping over each other. Fast forward to January 11, 2021, pandemic style, I decided I wanted some fresh make-up staples being that it had been a long time since I've purchased - even long before the pandemic - and considered Credo again since I was specifically looking for "clean beauty" makeup. Why not now?! It's a perfect time to freshen up the eyes with a pop of mascara (by Ilia), a liquid eyeshadow (also Ilia's), and a brow gel since eyes are the main attraction as long as we are wearing masks; I also couldn't resist the Clean Line gel liner in Dusk and the multi-stick Dreamer by Ilia as well. I digress on the makeup but the main event for me was meeting Katina! Katina, hands down is an outstanding person who exudes professionalism and warmth at the same time; she has been here for I believe 5 years and I am only learning about her now?! I related to her because of her maturity, and being 50+ I appreciated working with someone who gets "less is more" on the face not to mention what is complimentary on the skin tone while factoring wearing a mask and lifestyle - this was all a real bonus for me at least. She is also very knowledgable about the brands at Credo which also boosted my confidence level with what I was purchasing. I should also mention in the times of Covid, I felt extremely safe being inside the small space and trying on what I could (limited due to Covid); Katina kept the area we were working on sanitized at all times. I walked into Credo today and was helped by Katina! I recently made the decision to try out makeup that's paraben and sulfate-free as I struggle with hormonal acne, but had no idea where to start. Katina was very transparent by encouraging me to go home with some samples so that I'm not wasting money on a ton of products that aren't going to work for my skin type. She grabbed a couple of cleanser samples for me, and then also helped to color match me for foundation, bronzer, etc. We'll see how my skin takes the products I purchased, but I was happy with the in-store selection and the service provided! Its been 3 weeks since my facial and the spots I had after the facial are gone and my skin is now actually smooth and really soft and my texture has improved drastically as well. Updating my review for Emily as the last one I wrote was a couple days after the facial and my skin didn't look great, but now that its had time to heal from the extractions its visibly better. Been loyal since they started because they have a GREAT selection of products but the service is not in par with the prices. I think the girls on the floor "try" to be nice in a tense kind of way. it feels like one of those places where the staff is keeping their best face but they actually dislike the management. For a fairly new company I would expect a more eager to please feeling and this place doesn't have that. Ive referred a BUNCH of people there but not anymore Sorry guys. No loyalty program, no bags today, crappy giveaways, call you backs that never happened ....and hundreds of dollars of purchase yikes! Awesome concept but please consider being more customer oriented. This place feels like your highly opinionated friend that sucks at friendship. Ill probably give Credo one more try at some point in the future but Im not rushing to go there any time soon, too many strikes. read more

Hate going into to this store! Staff are consistently cold and rude. One time I went in and I had just quickly eaten a burger at Roam up the street. The girl who was rude to me the last time I was in rung me up and kept giggling to herself. I was like "uhhh what's so funny?" and she didn't say anything! Like just straight up ignored my question. Then when I checked my makeup on the way out I had like a piece of lettuce in my teeth lol. I thought people like this only existed in high school or in movies. Many of the products are overpriced and shitty, there's a lot of crap to wade through in the "clean" beauty world to find the gems. I'm now a devoted user of the Marie Veronique line that they carry but I REFUSE to purchase here even though the shop is so close to my apartment. Go to Ayla, it's close by and carries a lot of the same lines. You'll have a much better experience! Staff there are welcoming, knowledgeable, and take their time to make sure you're getting the right thing. read more
