You walk in and are transported to the UK with the decor. I rated this pub 3 stars because it is okay. It is not the best British pub I have been to locally and it isn't the worst. You will get an okay meal with decent service here. He had the bangers and mash and I had the roasted beet and goat cheese salad. While my salad was pretty good, the bangers and mash were the okay part...which should not have been the case in a British pub. The service was pretty decent. I use to recommend this Pub, not the case anymore unfortunately. The price of a basket of sweet potato fries runs for $15.00. Talk about sticker price shock! Recently I went if for a quick beverage and overheard rave reviews for their $18.00 burger. There may have been a side but I wasn't interested. I told the bartender I wasn't interested in a side. The burger was expensive enough, I had salad at home. He persisted, convinced me there wouldn't be a charge. I ordered it to go. After paying the bill i notice a 'side' charge. I brought it up to the bartender. I just wanted the hamburger! What part of that 'repeated' statement did he not get? His response was cavalier & dismissive. 'Oh well, can't do anything about it now, you've already paid!' I get home to find an overcooked, dry $20.00 something hamburger. Some things you let slide. Not this $20 something hamburger & a side of 'I could care less'. I left a message for the manager that evening, explaining what happened. Never heard from them again. This isn't the first time I've had an unpleasant experience. One bartender pressured me to give him more (grats) money because he let me 'taste' a beverage or two. He was inebriated. Someone should be paying attention to this. Management certainly doesn't seem to. Shame, I liked the place and most of the staff. read more

Came for lunch with the hubs on a sunny Saturday. We were seated quickly on the patio, which was lovely. Our drink order was taken quickly. After that, the service was not great. To the point where my husband and I actually mentioned it to each other a couple of times. We had nowhere to be so we could wait. The fries, both sweet potato and regular, were DELICIOUS. I'd order just fries next time. Seriously. The burger was a bit dry but I think that's fairly standard for restaurants. I'd give this place a second try for sure! read more

Not a very good meal with matching mediocre service. Mine was the tasteless chicken wings that was just blah. I asked for extra saucy but they missed the mark on that too. The other applie was a baked potato dish with a bacon crust. It wasn't bad but not great. Was really lacking flavour. Our server missed many marks. This is great example of a modern pub. While still maintaining the look and feel of the old school English pub, they've elevated their fare, bar and experience beyond the "pub grub" stereotype simply by ensuring that everything on the menu is made fresh to order from scratch. We were in Burlington visiting relatives recently and went looking for a baby friendly (and apparently pet friendly) patio to grab a couple of pints and have dinner. This seems to be then place to bring your dog for a drink as there were half a dozen at one point on the patio sitting nicely with their owners. We got a couple of pints, I went with Guinness and was shocked at how perfect the pour was and how clean their taps and pipes must have been. Not even a slight after taste (which can sometimes taste like metal), this is something I haven't experienced since visiting Ireland in the flesh. Well done. For dinner I got the steak sandwich au juice. It was really lovely, crusty bread, chopped up beef (not steak kind you) and a nice dip for the sandwich. A surprising highlight were the big beefy chips that came with it. Big English style chips that were hand cut. My wife had a baked Brie cheese appetizer and coconut shrimp which she really enjoyed and highly recommended. It was a Sunday and the patio was packed but the best thing was the live music which was really excellent. I ended up visiting this location for the first time during the day at lunchtime and can say I was very happy with the menu options and prices! For $12 I was able to get a burger + fries and 1 drink of my choosing (the options ranged from a 4oz glass of house red/white wine, 10oz domestic draft, a bottle of domestic beer, coffee or pop). Compared to a meal at Harvey's or A&W I think I would go with this option given the value and quality :) read more

I used to love this place but the experience in no way was the waiters fault but obviously the kitchens. I ordered the chicken fingers and fries as trying to get something safe since I'm pregnant and never had a problem with that before. Well that was a really bad idea it ended up smelling like fish after i bit into it and already swallowed a bit but spat the rest out the fries were great but I had like 12 fries thats it for 16$ and your chicken tastes and smells like fish is garbage. No wonder you don't post your menu on your website must be embarrassed or something. I will unfortunately not be returning and your place legit smells so bad the bathrooms actually smell better failure. At least the fries and the water I had was ok but I mean you cant make mistakes on water. read more

After waiting for what seemed like forever to receive our food, it was fairly cold, I ordered chicken wings, they included 7 chicken wings for 13$ as their "pound". These wings seemed to be old as the meat was fairly hard, not appetizing Staff was not friendly and even have sass when asked to re heat one of our plates as it was cold. We didn't even end up getting it heated. I wouldn't be upset with the wait if it was worth the dinner but it was not, even the fries tasted like freezer burn!! Not good. Not coming back. read more

This was one of the worst experiences I have ever had, the service was minimal at best..While she was friendly enough, she put our food orders off since we were a smaller party and the larger party that came in AFTER us apparently needed tending to the entire night while we sat and waited for orders for over a half an hour, on a Sunday night. The waitress actually told us that our food will be last to come and the large table gets theirs first....are you serious? We were sitting and waiting to order at least ten minutes before everyone from the large table even arrived. I ordered the quesadillas, which were supposed to come with avocado, black beans and cilantro as the main ingredients, there was one tiny slice of avocado on one piece and no cilantro, I even opened up the quesadilla and searched for cilantro and nothing... My boyfriend ordered the royal poutine and it didn't come with gravy... what is a poutine without gravy? Cheese and fries that's what and not worth your money at all. I actually considered dining and dashing because the waitress took forever to bring us the bill...having large tables is not an excuse to not be friendly with your smaller ones and all but forget that we exist, we are customers too after all. read more

Came here by recommendation. Excellent bar: absolutely fantastic. I went during the late lunch service. The waitress was nice and pointed us towards the burger menu. The atmosphere was quiet and friendly, with great decor. They had soccer/football playing on TV, so we ended up staying for some time. My friend and I had domestic beer on tap (Coors and Molsen). I don't know what they do to the beer to make it so perfect, but the beer had the best head on it that I've ever seen, and was super cold. For food, we both ordered the "taco burger". My burger's bun was a bit soggy on the bottom, but was otherwise excellently crafted. The guacamole and the small bits of nacho chip toppings were a nice touch, and the fries were well-seasoned and not bland by any means. My friend had no complaints, and he's usually pretty picky about having a good burger, so I took that as a good sign. The bill was about what you would expect for bar service in the area. Overall, I had a great time. Would definitely come back. read more

Stopped in to our favourite pub in Burlington, for lunch. I have never had a bad meal here. Because I was just getting over a cold I wanted something warm and comfort food like. Great pub atmosphere, unfortunately seems to have lost its direction when it comes to food. As a pub it's great, staff friendly and quick with a good selection of draught beers. The food on the other hand lets the place down, not that it is bad (far from) but it doesn't seem to fit with a traditional pub fare. The Traditional Pub food section on the menu, is small and very limited with none of the favourites usually found in a pub. It seems that they are trying to run under the banner of a British Pub, but have a menu that is more suited to an upscale restaurant. This is reflected with the prices as well. The food is way overpriced for a pub or any bar for that matter. I visit a "Traditional English Pub" for traditional English food, not something with ingredients that you have never heard of. Locally sourced wild boar! What's that all about??? I will still pop in for a pint when down town, but will chose one of the other downtown Pubs for reasonably priced traditional pub meals. read more

Arrived and was seated and ordered drinks and food. An hour and half later we were still waiting for food. After asking what the hold up was. Numerous excuses were given for the delay. Mgmt didn't seem to take any accountability for delay and also provided reasoning (1-1/2 hrs after order). I simply replied you should have told us so other arrangements or alternate dinner decision on our part could have been made. Poor handling of what was advised was a unique situation. Recently booked a private party. Stephen(or Steven I apologize) was so kind and helpful when booking. I got a call to plan the apps and returned the call. The owner answered and was EXTREMELY rude! I almost cancelled my booking. He tried to force me to pay for way more food(even suggested lobster tails and champagne) and made fun of the amount I said I could afford. Prior to the day I said I would be an hour early to set up. When I came in there were three families in the private room and would not leave. Then Stephen came over and notified us that the Owner had double booked the room (we booked two months in advance and there was no one else in the book on that weekend). He felt horrible and tried to make things better. Then he could not find the menu I had sent in... I asked to have them order in a veggie tray which they said they could but apparently did not so poor Stephen had to run around and get something together. They provided us with pre cooked cauliflower (not what I would pay $40 for but had to). Overall Stephen, and the waitress and waiter (Ryan and Anastasia) were great and tried so hard to make things work. Stephen should be running his own pub. read more

I wouldn't go back here if you paid me. This was my worst pub experience in my life. We were told the taste of Burlington prix fixe menu was starting today. Yay. We ordered all our food. Salad came with cheese when we asked for none. Kids food came fifteen minutes later (restaurant was nearly empty). Forty five minutes after that our food came and we were told that it's because the price fixe menu takes an hour to prep (salad, chicken sandwich, bread pudding). If you see a family with four young children ordering maybe you'd want them to reorder if you know they are going to have to wait an eternity? Did we get a discount? Nope. All we got was a dirty look from another waitress when we politely said we had asked for our salad not to have cheese. I considered leaving 0 percent as a tip which is something I have never done once in my life. I will never go back to this restaurant again, nor will any of my family members nor anyone I know. Good selection of beer. Nice pubby atmosphere. The food needs improvement. I figured I'd go for a safe pub grub so I ordered sheppards pie. The meat was nasty and the potato on top was...well, I honestly don't know what they did with it It wasn't mashed, it wasn't whole. I honestly don't know what they did. There were some unrecognizable veggies in it. The only saving grace was the side of brussels sprouts which were really tasty. I don;t think I'll be back just because of the food. The server was pleasant... the food not so. The French onion soup was the most expensive that I have ever had and I've had it in many places far far more upscale than The Qeen"s Head. The price would have been ok if the soup was exceptional but it was worth maybe half the price. The calamari was not the worst I've ever had but clearly a strong second. I don't expect fabulous food at a pub but it should be a cut above a fast food value meal. read more

We wasted 68$ last night on appalling food. The service was fine and the beer as usual. We had calamari which unfortunately had been smothered in a quite tasty sauce but soggy fried calamari. The pot pie was overcooked and is a canned gravy. The liver and bacon was covered in canned gelatinous gravy of overwhelming and unappetizing proportions. This dish was sent back for chicken curry which consisted of a large amount prepared chicken gravy heavily tasting of recently added curry powder over a few slices of previously cooked chicken with some rice on the bottom. It was not prepared carefully or indeed even cooked by anyone who knows what curry is, even pub curry. None of of these dishes were prepared by anyone who knows how to cook and each was expensive for pub food. This place used to be quite nice and fun.The restaurant cannot survive in downtown Burlington with multiple new restaurants if this quality of food is to be maintained. The axe to grind is with the cook and menu! We will not be back. read more
