I used to be an inveterate fabric shopper and sewed for myself and others since childhood, getting…read moremy first "toy" Singer that actually sewed dolls' clothes. My granddaughter has it now after her Dad learned on it too, when he was young. Because of aging and vision loss, I no longer do much sewing, just the quick small repair using extra lights and magnification. Also I find I often need to "remodel" an item that I bought with the plan to use an alteration to the construction. That is what led me to Sewbo today as there are no more multi craft stores left near me. I prefer quality parts and local ownership so the loss of one chain was really no big deal. But the remaining fabric store, one of my long time favorites, does not carry the sort of thing I was looking for. It specializes in high-end classic fabrics and has a talented staff in more formal design and construction. It pains me to no longer be able to support that business which I had for nearly 50 years. Somewhere along in recent times, Sewbo opened quite close to me but in a rather obscure corner of a shopping center we use regularly for other things. For those confused by its address on Baseline, know that it is on the "back" (south side) of the Basemar shopping center, behind Dougs Diner but with its own parking accessed from 27th Way which connects 28th St to Broadway. You can turn into the store access from 27th Way next to the Core Yoga building. With the reserved parking spaces and before lunch, we had no trouble taking an empty space. Not only does the store carry many choices in contemporary fabrics, they carry lots of notions like zippers and threads. They also teach classes, even for children, which is a great summer project. I wish my granddaughter was here to take one. I found exactly the zipper I was looking for, their colors and lengths stock was expansive. The price was minimal though it appears to be high quality too. A staff member greeted us immediately upon entering and was so helpful in finding the exact type zipper I wanted.. I wish even more that I still was sewing regularly as it is so nice to have another comprehensive quality local source for projects.

I'm thrilled, inspired, and grateful that the Joann closure pushed me to look up new options. I didn't find exactly what I was looking for (green metallic thread to alter my daughter's formal) , but I don't really know where else to go at this moment -- I can't match thread colors online, I need to physically see them. The thread I purchased will suffice, and now I know about a wonderful shop just 15min up the road.

Hobby Lobby - Look-- here's the item FOR SALE Magdalena says she can't take back because they don't sell them anymore.

This was maybe one of the worst experiences in retail I've ever had. The one-star review is…read morespecifically because of an employee named Magdalena. I came in today to exchange some items I had bought for my wife's birthday. Because I lost the receipt, I had to take 60% in credit of the sales price. No problem-- it's not their fault I lost the receipt, it's mine. But what was so glaringly one-star worthy was how painful the entire exchange was because of Magdalena's demeanor. From the sighing, to the glaring-- not only was she not friendly, she was rude! Consider saying please or thank you if you work in retail. Or if you're that unhappy working there: quit! I can't believe this is a Christian-owned business. It's quite baffling! Furthermore, they told me they couldn't take an item back because they didn't sell it anymore (meaning: it wasn't populating on their iPad). Instead of doing some due diligence or giving a consumer the benefit of the doubt, they'd made their decision: we're not taking this back! I literally had to walk all the way to the back of the store and grab the item which they still sell (pic attached) in order for them to even consider they were wrong. Oops! No "sorry about that", no "oh you're right, our fault!" Just a dull look on her face obviously disgruntled because I'm making her do "extra work." Really-- either be happy at your job OR just quit. Don't suffer others because of your lack of happiness. I had $5 left on my gift card which I gave to the customer behind me because I'm never coming back here again, I'll go out my way to go to Michael's. Awful job, Hobby Lobby.

Let me start by saying: this was my first time ever stepping into a Hobby Lobby. I had always heard…read moreit was a Christian-based retail store full of creativity, kindness, and good energy. I thought, what a perfect way to spend my birthday--getting a few craft supplies and treating myself to a peaceful, fun little outing. What I got instead? Humiliation, rudeness, and a total lack of basic human decency. I politely asked a staff member--a young white man with blondish-ginger hair and black glasses--where the googly eyes were. Seems simple enough. But instead of helping me, he literally laughed and said, "It's in the craft section," like I was stupid or something. Then he turned and walked away with another employee (an Asian boy with a bowl cut), both giggling like children. And if that wasn't bad enough? As they walked into the back room, the ginger one turned to his friend and said, "As you can tell, I don't like her." Excuse me? I stood there shocked. I came in with a smile, asked a simple question, and that's how I was treated. I couldn't believe it. I felt completely disrespected, dehumanized, and yes--I started crying. I left the store in tears on my birthday. A place that claims to be built on Christian values should be ashamed to have employees who mock customers, especially first-timers. I was excited to be there. I was kind. And I was made to feel small and unwanted. I will never be back. Ever. Not to this location, not to any Hobby Lobby. You've lost a customer for life. Do better--for the sake of your customers and your reputation. Also I wish I could give you guys a zero fat bitches
