The store is clean and organized but has several problems. The staff has little knowledge of the product and will tell you so. Much wasted space where they could stage more product as their line of goods is limited. The prices are way out of line comparing them to other shops in the area. They are in a very nice building with a prime location and I imagine the cost to stay there must be quite high. You wouldn't think it; it being just a yarn shop and all, but I felt giddy while I was here. Like a kid at a candy store and being allowed to pick out whatever treat I wanted except that I ended up buying way more than just one treat! I really love yarn, and I love to crochet as I find it to be a great stress relief activity so to me; this place was special. We don't really have anything like this in Florida; I guess with the hot weather there isn't much of a demand for it, and that too accounts for it being so special. Workers were great; really helpful in showing me the yarns I was looking for. I ended up getting some pure Alpaca yarn, and some other stuff including cool/unique buttons with the 3 stooges faces on it; that'll be a fun project! Good yarn like this is not cheap, but they had specials going on as it was the holidays, and this is not the kind of yarn you buy at Joanns or Michaels, you can feel and see the quality so for those looking for something that isn't going to shrink, lose color, or break easy; this is the place. read more

I've been following the shop on SM for a few years and was finally able to get in to visit on this day. I was lucky enough to arrive a day after their latest yarn bombing project on the tree out front had been put up too! As I was looking for the shop using Waze, in the end, it was this that let me know I had arrived . The shop sits in historic downtown Longmont in a narrow but deep building and has everything a knitter, crocheter spinner, or weaver could ask for. Yarn shops are, for me, my grown up version of a candy store and this one offers a wonderful candy selection! So many choices, large selection of yarn including local yarn (which is always my first choice to support these businesses), kits, books, patterns, every tool you could need, and plenty of accessories and embellishments, as well as frequent classes for beginners and experienced crafters alike. The knowledgeable, friendly staff is quick to greet you to share the shop layout so you know where the types of yarn are displayed and to ask for your interests and point things out to you based on your interest. I only spent 45 minutes on this visit but, easily could have been there for 45 more if I didn't have a pizza waiting for me across the street at Rosalee's. As I checked out, I was also given opportunity to join their reward program which I gladly signed up for. Really enjoyed going here as part of the Hot August Knits yarn crawl.. Lots of great project samples/ideas. We liked a sample hat and the yarn so much we decided to give it a go and it became my 2nd crochet project. One skein wasn't enough since I altered the pattern to be more of a slouchy hat, so we went back up the next weekend to get another skein. We didn't mind since the first time going there had us feeling good when we left. Well the second trip also had us feeling awesome since the staff there is so friendly and there is such a vibrant set of folks there--like a community--lots of customers there knitting, crocheting, etc. all with great positive energy. In addition to yarn, they of course have the accessories and tools (needles, hooks, etc) along with fiber too (yippie!). Lots of comfy places to sit and hang out. I went to the Estes Park Wool Market for the first time this past June. Ever since going there I have been wanting to visit this store. So glad the yarn crawl gave us the structure and "reason" to finally make it happen! I started their frequent buyers program so I guess we will see how that goes :). read more

Super cute store. Unfortunately my experience was ruined by one of the ladies (I think the owner) following me around and practically looking through my bags as if to make sure I wasn't stealing. It's very uncomfortable. I've heard similar experiences from other people of color and genuinely believe she is racist. It's the closet yarn store to me but I'd gladly make the drive to any other store where they arwnr racist. Very disappointing in this day and age to be treated like a second class citizen. This is the best yarn shop ever, set within walking distance to good restaurants and shopping (two bookstores and lots more) There's an incredible variety of yarn and fiber, from local fibers to international brands, and everything is arranged very colorfully and attractively. There's lots of cool and handy notions and little extras (aka, chocolate) They have awesome classes on a wide variety of needle and fiber arts. The staff is welcoming and knowledgeable. Not easy to find on the first trip, but worth searching for. Access easier from the back, and there is a parking lot too. Kind of crowded, but the staff does not rush you. Would be fun to take a class, since the staff are very helpful and kind. I got a second skein of yarn here; had gotten one from a shop closer to home, and LYS was cheaper and more helpful. I love this yarn shop! They stock my favorite yarn in every color. Everyone is extremely friendly and helpful. The interior is beautiful but comfortable--it's very easy to see the yarn and navigate through the store and I browsed at my leisure. I'm so happy that I'm near by and can pop in when I need something. I'm looking forward to taking classes here too. The first time I went in they were serving hot chocolate with toppings! They also have a Christmas wishlist that helps friends and family pick the perfect present. It's very helpful if your family doesn't know anything about yarn. I was thrilled when I heard that a new yarn shop had opened in Longmont and I took my 3 little girls in to check it out. It's situated in the back of a business right on Main, which makes it very accessible. They've done a great job creating a cozy little haven...it's very welcoming. The owner is so gracious, kind, and helpful. She stocks yarn that I LOVE and has an ample selection of needles and accessories. I drive 15 miles to this yarn shop to buy 8 skeins of yarn (120.00) and to have them wind two other balls of yarn that someone gifted to me. They stated I'd have to wind it myself because they can't be responsible for my yarn if they ruined it ! Several months ago , they were having a yarn sale. I purchased 7 skeins , but they said they were too busy to wind the yarn and they could do one , but I'd have to return at a later time if I wanted it wound into a ball. ! Bought expensive yarn from this shop while in town visiting my mother. Changed my mind on the yarn, wanted a thicker yarn. Went back first thing the very next day and they would not let me exchange for another yarn. They yarn was in original package, perfect condition and was not used.
